Nothing impressive here but the service did improve during our stay. They have a nice fire pit at the outdoor seating area but when I tried to sit out there a couple times in the evenings, it was overrun with cigar smokers and or kids running around screaming, playing, being kids. Not something I would call relaxing. The rooms are dated and our bathroom ceiling had what looked like water stains. Balcony door would not open but we didn't have a nice view anyway. (New hotel construction- also loud hammering early in the morning, so be aware of that) Breakfast is not included. One of the mornings it was unavailable due to "someone calling out". That says bad management to me. Another morning some poor guy wanted avocado toast, one of their advertised offerings, and the server said "yeah sorry we aren't making that today". What the heck? We did try the breakfast sandwich and a premade yogurt parfait which were passable but not amazing. All in all we wouldn't stay here again. The holiday inn express is close by and much better. Or splurge a little and stay at the Radisson in steam town. read more

Stayed 4 nights in Aug 2025. The good: room was clean, did not smell. (I was on 3rd floor; coworker on 2nd floor said the corner of his room smelled.) Bed was good. I slept well. Shower pressure and temp was good. Once the lightbulb in the vanity area warmed up, it was bright enough for me to see what I was doing. The bad: 1) I asked for daily room refresh; of four nights, I got a refresh only 2 times and a) they took the bath mat and never replaced it; b) never refilled the coffee packets; c) did not take the dirty dishes nor the tip and 2) conditioner bottle was empty (or, if it wasn't, I couldn't get any conditioner out). I complained Mon morn (arrived Sun night) to the front desk about the conditioner. Tues: no change--no conditioner. Weds I wrote out a list: conditioner; coffee; tip; and gave it to the front desk clerk (same woman as Monday), with my room number on it. Weds night: no change--got a refresh, but no coffee, no conditioner, tip and dirty dishes still there. Weds morning 630AM I chose to eat at the "starbucks" in the lobby. 1) the menu board was so dark I could not read it. One employee turned on the second set of lights and the woman working the counter turned them off, saying she got too hot under the lights. OK. I ordered steel cut oats and avocado toast. (laughing) I am pretty sure this is not sanctioned by Starbucks. a)The oatmeal was properly cooked but salty. b) the avocado toast! OMG. I took a bite, and gave it back (note: I did not ask for a refund nor was one offered). It was salsa. She said it was an "avocado spread" with lemon juice. I replied, "no, it's a salsa. There's no spread here." It was ridiculous. Runny, clear in parts; it was a salsa, or a dip. Absolutely not a spread and maybe it was avocado green, but that was the only 'avocado' thing about it. I ate half of the oatmeal and a bite of the toast. Please to note: I was very hungry too, that's how bad it was. I checked out Thurs morning: still no conditioner, no bathmat, no coffee. **Is this hotel closing? there seems to be a distinct lack of care here. The little sundries store has no dental floss or personal items-lots of empty hooks. The walls of the hallways are banged up, scuffed; wall paper peeling off. Just sad. But my bed was free of bugs and I had a good shower. But if I have a choice, I won't come back. read more

I don't understand the other reviews. The hallways had a nice scent to them that was obviously put in. Our king suite room was nice but not as nice as other Courtyards. Yes, the hotel does need an update, but you can see where they have done work. No there isn't a free breakfast offered in the morning. There is a bistro you can order from. The staff was great and there is a AAA Yankees team right behind the hotel. (We were there for a game with my company's suite tickets...I'm an orioles fan). Everything seems to be very old and falling apart. I'm not sure if it's actually dirty but it certainly looks that way because of so much wear and tear. The bottom of the tub looked discolored. Multiple things looked as if they were on their last leg and about to break. The worst was the smell in the hallway. I'm not sure if it's dank or what but I literally had to hold my breath when I walked by certain spots. We were also surprised there was no breakfast included. We went down to the food place even to buy food and no one was there. When we inquired at the front desk they didn't seem concerned. We drove up the hill to get food. The rooms all have a strong mold odor and housekeeping is defined only as a chance of trash can emptying. 2. After I left, I discovered a credit card charged from its restaurant that I never dined in. After multiple calls I was informed "only the evening hotel restaurant manager can address credit card charges". I received one call from Natalie where I provided the dollar amount, date of transaction, and the dates of my stay then I was never contacted again. Now I must dispute it with my credit card company. The staff was so nice and helpful. The hotel, however, was constantly damp and had a vague mildew smell. We tried everything: turning the AC off, turning the heat on, turning up the AC, but everything was constantly damp and smelly, including our clean clothes. It was humid outside, but still... our friends at a neighboring hotel didn't have the same experience. The pool was also closed (no water) and the gym is impossibly small. There is no room to do anything except be on one of the two treadmills or elliptical or on the bench which is very close to the other machines. Basically, if someone else is in the gym it's not possible for anyone else to be in there. The "breakfast" offered is packaged muffins or dry cereal (eg Frosted Flakes). One day they have GF bobos bars but I didn't see them again after that. Complimentary coffee in the room. We also had a mini fridge in our "upgraded" room, but it was frozen over. I did end up putting a soda I didnt finish in the fridge, but it frozen into ice. I wouldn't stay here again or recommend it; I might try the other Marriotts around this area next time read more

This hotel has a 24 hour firepit outside and I suggest you stay there instead of inside. The lobby is dark and depressing. The halls and elevator smell horrible. The room was ok but the shower was a little dirty. We checked out at about 5:30 am. We walked into the lobby and there was a messy girl behind the desk with blue hair and facial piercings. We said hi here are the keys. She didn't acknowledge us at all. She was writing something on an envelope. We waited and said do we need to do anything else to check out? She looked at us but said nothing. Finally we said ok fine and walked out. She never acknowledged us. Never seen anything like it. I would not recommend this place. read more

My family and I were extremely frustrated and disappointed in this hotel for multiple reasons. Despite having a reservation for a room with a king bed and a sofa bed, we were advised upon arriving that the hotel had given our room to someone else. I asked how that could be possible, since we had reserved the room and given our credit card in advance. I was told that nothing could be done, and that we would instead be in a room with two double beds and a sofa bed on the 2nd floor. This was definitely not what we booked and not what we had agreed to pay for. We were told that it was an "upgrade" because the room was on the courtyard side, but it was far from it. My family and I were only at the hotel for one night, and we specifically wanted a king bed because the quality of our sleep was much more important than overlooking a small courtyard and a parking lot. As we were only on the second floor, we could also clearly hear hotel guests hanging out in the courtyard as we tried to fall asleep. Our six-year-old son especially was complaining about the noise. Additionally, the elevator, the entire 2nd floor hallway, and our room smelled like a toilet. This was one of the worst hotel experiences I've ever had, and it was a far cry from what I had come to expect from a Marriott stay. read more

I'm giving this two stars because of the location - convenient to PNC Field and area resorts, concerts and casinos. Everything else was very blah. Covid cases are on the rise and not one staff member was wearing a mask. Hallways smelled like cigarette smoke. Not much of a blanket on the beds. Water flow in the shower was terrible, and the shower was not draining properly. I asked at check in to switch the credit card that was going to be charged and handed them the one to charge, yet it was not changed. I get that many hotels have reduced breakfast options over the last year due to covid, but this was the worst I have seen. One night here because it's close to the airport and it's a Marriott. This Courtyard is the "older" style which is fine. It's still everything I have come to get used to from the Courtyard chain. Quiet and clean and with the Bistro in the lobby. No free breakfast, because that's how the Courtyard properties roll. My room on the third floor was roomy and comfortable. The bed a little soft for my taste, but it was good for one night. I had no issues. I would stay here again. read more

Reviewing a Courtyard is a lot like reviewing a Dunkin Doughnuts or a McDonalds in that for the most part if you've seen one then you've seen them all and you know that no Courtyard is perfect and each of them has their quirks which keep them from being great or elite hotels. I've been coming to this Courtyard since around when it opened and while they may have tried to feng shui the room décor the same problems that have existed since the beginning still exist today. 1. You still have to make the turn of death at the bottom of the driveway to get out onto Glenmaura National Blvd. Nothing like having it flurry/snow and with the road being slick you then are trying to make either a blind left turn across four lanes or a blind right up a hill that would make a Billy Goat blush. 2. The elevators are S-L-O-W. This past weekend the hotel was dead and even with no one in them the elevators would take what seemed like minutes to get down to the first floor. 3. The pool is still the size of a shot glass. 4. The "restaurant" is not really a restaurant in so much as it's a glorified snack bar and to call it a restaurant is a euphemism in the worst possible way. But on the good side the bed was very comfortable and nice and the staff we did encounter were extremely friendly, hospitable and truly seemed to enjoy what they were doing. Also the location right off of 81, PNC Park, the Montage Shoppes, and the ski area cannot be beat and while this hotel will never be four star material, or even three for that matter, it does the job for a cheap short stay nicely. read more

Nice lobby upon entry. No water upon checkin. Room decorated very modern and very clean. I suspect a recent refurbishment. Room well laid out. Shower big. Nice sofa in the room. Big TV in room with lots of channels. Paul Mitchell amenities. No shower cap. Staff very service oriented. We asked for many things and they were extremely responsive. Gym had only a few pieces of equipment- elliptical and treadmills. There were hands rights. No bike. No ball for abs. They were out of towels but immediately refreshed when I said something. There were sanitary wipes. Water cooler had those annoying come shaped cups that you can't put down. Make sure you request a room not facing the highway. Store had lots of snacks. read more

Here is my review. I am sorry to say but I will never stay at this facility again. It started when I checked in the girl was extremely rude. Then when I went up to my room I found used wash clothes on the couch. When I went down to tell the girl she could have cared less. I asked for another room and she act like she was doing me a big favor. Then this morning I go downstairs and ask the person behind the desk if she could print my receipt. She then tells me she cannot print my receipt until I check out. But, there's one problem I have done this 1000 times I am a titanium elite member. I stayed at the Courtyard for almost 2 weeks. Overall, it's a very nice hotel. I'll begin with my differences and end on a good note. I was in room 232 and shared it with a coworker. Our beds were loosely made everyday but our sheets never got changed. The floor never looked vacuumed and the room had a humid odor to it most of the time. The bath was always cleaned and the used towels were always replaced. I just wasn't impressed with housekeeping. The rooms were nice, but I have to say the beds at holiday inn were better. There was some peeling paint on the ceiling of the bathroom but wow they had great water pressure! The desk was very accommodating and nice as can be. There were 14 of us staying there and they treated us quite well. The back patio was wonderful and relaxing with a nice open fire and comfortable seating. We spent a lot of time out there. There was even a great propane bbq if you wanted to bbq. My favorite part of the stay were the girls at the Bistro. They worked so hard, put out great food and were so very kind! The menu was plentiful and food cooked to order. Very tasty! Thanks again for all your help! read more

The downsides; the water runs dark brown (there is a sign out front warning guests of this issue) when it rains. The mattresses are very, very VERY old. If you don't mind being the meat in the taco, have at it. The edges are still new, but the middles are as soft as warm cheese. Both my wife and I were constantly colliding in our sleep due to the soft/broken down middles. I did share with the front desk that these beds are not 'normal' to expected Courtyard or Marriott properties. The desk clerk agreed that a)these are the most used beds, as the balcony rooms are popular. b) the mattresses likely need a change out as they receive 'occasional complaints.' The upsides; Newly remodeled bathroom, the area is beautiful, the fireplace outside is enticing, especially with the woodsy background. Breakfast is mainline/standard fare and they did keep food rotating. Front desk help was outstanding on check in, but the woman at checkout was constantly playing with her tongue-piercing (distracting and annoying, not to mention somewhat disgusting). She was nice enough, but I'm really not interested in hearing the clacking nor seeing a tongue constantly roll around in an open mouth. Overall, we'd stay here again, assuming they change out the mattresses. read more

The hotel staff was welcoming and efficient. The room was decent. The stars are for the hotel, I give ZERO stars for the 'bistro'. It was horrible. We went for breakfast...no one was at the counter to take our order. When she showed up she seemed stressed and in a hurry and like we were a bother. We sat at a table and waited for our food for at least 30 minutes. I wish that we could have walked out, but we had already paid when we ordered. When they finally brought the food they did not bring any utensils or napkins. When I asked for a fork I was tossed a package of plastic flatware. Not very classy for a 'bistro' that serves breakfast on a wood plank and is supposed to be upscale. Everyone else around us had been given real silverware. The food tasted terrible. It all had a rancid taste to it like the oil used to cook with was weeks old. Needless to say, we could not eat it. Bottom line...we liked the hotel, but don't waste your time and money at the 'Bistro'. read more

This has been very disappointing stay and definitely not up to standards for a Marriott. Flew in early and swung by at 130 just by chance we could check in early. Normal check in is 4. Person at desk had no mask. We gave the desk clerk a mask. Rooms were not cleaned and could not check in early. No problem. Told to check back Check back at 3. 315, rooms not ready. Told to check back at 4. Room not ready checked in at 415. The grounds are a mess, litter everywhere. Pool, restaurant closed due to covid 19 but nothing on website about this. Left room at about 1130 am. Came back at 100 pm. Saw no housekeepers on floor. That is when I noticed how dirty mirrors were and our ice cube bucket had not been emptied and only 3 bath towels when we checked in. Asked front desk to have room cleaned. She asked you are staying for 3 days? I said yes. She said we don't do that normally. I said you mean you don't do vacuuming, towels, make up the beds, replenish coffee and cups? She said we van do the towels. Came back at 530 and front desk said management's policy was to not go in rooms when customers still checked in!! Not in room room, mind you, but checked in. I asked if this was Marriott's policy, no our management company. I said so we can't get towels , toiletries etc. ? I said had I known that I wouldn,t have stayed here. She went to the back and got the housekeeping supervisor, who comes out with her mask below her nose and said they can not go in rooms while guests are still checked in. I just shook my head. My thoughts, don't stay here and pay 100$ a night for service less than that of a Scottish Inn. Go elsewhere. Nothing on website or in room to show they won't clean rooms , pool not operational, restaurant closed. The employees are courteous, in all fairness. But that is it as far as good news about this place. read more

Descent and clean enough, but WiFi...oh my. So so slow and hard to connect. I finally used my cell phone's hot spot to get internet access on my laptop. Also...there was a quarter roll of toilette paper IN TOTAL when we checked in with our family of four. Really? Cost saving my hoping we don't use too much single ply sand paper/toilette paper? His lead to an early morning call down to the desk, and then I had to go get the roll of toilette paper in my pajamas. No offer to bring it to my room. If you use WiFi or toilette paper...look elsewhere. read more

First, the good: It's location (except for the street entrance) is ideal. It's close to a lot of stores and sites to see. Now, the not so good: The AC unit that was in our first room was broken (blower fans not working on one side, pushing out heat instead of cold). We called to the front desk and they sent up a repair person who only knew how to clean the filter and verify that we had the correct settings. He then said that the other person who could do the repair would stop by in 10 minutes. It was already around 8:30pm and with our 5 year old son it was getting late for us to go to sleep. I called back to the front desk and asked for a new room and they did it - but this option should have been offered to us right after the first repair person stopped by since he also agreed that the AC unit was really broken. I got the sense they had plenty of rooms available too based on the number of people that got evacuated when ... Around 10pm on our second night the fire alarm went off for about 3 minutes. Then it went off again, and then on again after 10 minutes and stayed on. Ok, if there's a fire or another issue, fine, let's go to a safer place. After 2 hours of waiting outside it was determined that on the first floor one of their sensors detected a high level of chlorine in the air from the pool area and had spread to the other first floor rooms. Now granted, this could have happened to any hotel with a pool, but it further raised doubts about their attention to details and issues that could or should have been avoided. Lastly, the street side entrance is a bit dangerous because there is a double blind spot when going out and in. It's around a tight and fast turn which makes it hard to correctly estimate and wait for the fast traffic coming from each direction. Overall our stay was a little sub-par, the staff and GM are nice, but we're not sure that we'll stay here again. read more

It pains me to even give this hotel one star.I'm still shook that this is a Marriott branded property.I made a reservation months ago without issue. Arrived on a Saturday for a 4 PM wedding. Attempted to get early check in and was told an aggressive NO by the woman at the front, only to arrive at 3 PM (check in time) to a line of 40 people and an empty front desk. Not one single employee to be found in this shithole. Figuring I didnt want to be late to my cousin's wedding should the front desk not arrive, I decided to leave and give them a ring on the way. I spoke with someone and let them know I had arrived and was ensured I'd be able to check in after the wedding without issue because my room was available and ready. But, WRONG AGAIN! Arrived back around 1130 PM TO THE SAME SITUATION! A line of 40 people/ travelers and NOT ONE SINGLE EMPLOYEE working the desk. T-60 minutes later I was told there were zero rooms available, they were all overbooked, all of the sister properties were overbooked, and there was nothing they could do about it. Manager came in 45 minutes after the fact after a night on the town, "tipsy" as he put it, and continued to be unable to assist a now angry crowd with finding any rooms and proceeded to call the police on the "rowdy" crowd.. Pretty sure no one really ever wants to sleep in their car ever, let alone after a wedding but this was our reality with no suggestions available. The best part is that Marriott had the audacity to charge my card after being the shittiest hotel with no rooms and the shittiest employees on the block. #Scranton read more

The thing I like about Courtyard hotels is they are consistently good all over the country. Another thing I like is the front desk people are extremely nice and helpful. This hotel was no exception. The lobby was tastefully done and very clean. Our room was decorated in a retro style. We could not figure out if it was old or remodeled in retro. In any case it was clean and everything worked well. As an engineer that is important for me. Our breakfast was typical Courtyard and quite good. And it didn't cost us $30 per person like it does at the Hilton. Whether this is an unrenovated Courtyard or a retro renovation, our stay was very nice. We will definitely stay here on our next visit to Scranton. read more

Nice lobby, extremely nice staff and helpful. The most import was that it was clean! For a 2 bedroom suite, the layout was very odd and a bit inconvenient. For anyone to use the bathroom sink and mirror, it was basically in the bedroom so you couldn't really turn that light on or use it without waking those sleeping in the bedroom and the door into that room wouldn't shut. The only other negative was that the bathroom especially seemed to need some remodeling but was at least clean. Their was supposed to be shuttles by the hotel to the wedding reception but they didn't leave on time and not nearly enough space, on the return, they didn't even show up and we had some elderly ready and waiting for the first shuttle that was supposed to arrive at 10:30 and don't think it ever did show up and we found rides for some of the older people. read more

I stay at hotels 3 nights a week and prefer Courtyards....this one however is a dump. I checked into my room and found crap on the toilet seat, a left over coffee bag in the coffee maker, a dirty glass that looked like it was never cleaned but instead just put back on the fancy white paper, and a can of Genny Cream Ale loaded with cigarette butts on the balcony. Was this room ever cleaned or is it the break room for the hotel staff? read more

If you're looking for a noisy hotel, go no further. 11:00 and kids are still.not only running up and down the hallways, but are in the backyard area laughing, playing in the snow. TV wasn't working and was told for me to unplug and try to reboot it. No luck. (Until hubby tried it later) Went down to the lobby to sit but was filled with kids, loud kids. Stayed at 5 other Marriott hotels this month and none were like this. If the parents cant tone down their kids, management should!!! (And yes, I said something to them earlier) Why can't groups of kids like this be placed one section? I'm disabled and had to walk 'Between' kids to get to the elevator. I decided to stay at the The Courtyard in Moosic on my last business trip through the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre area. I was tempted to stay there in lieu of other local properties because I'm a whore and wanted to take advantage of a free night promotion Marriott is running as well as a desire to keep my Marriott Elite status another year and to get both on my employer's dime. The Courtyard in Moosic has both positive and negative attributes. I'll start off with the positives. - The hotel rooms are clean and well equipped. They appear to have been upgraded fairly recently. - The hotel is well located. It is close to the highway and convenient to Montage Mountain for concerts and skiing. - The hotel lobby is also upgraded and has a "bistro" and bar included in it. - The free coffee is Starbucks, for the Starbucks fans out there. - The staff was very pleasant throughout my stay. The negatives: - The walls are very thin and/or not sound insulated. Apparently my neighbor likes to leave the TV on while he sleeps. I could hear SportsCenter clearly through the wall. Luckily the PTAC unit was pretty loud and I was able to crank the AC and let it drown out the TV. -The sink/counter is located outside of the bathroom and is very cramped, with almost no counter space. I only needed room for my shaving kit so I imagine it would be a royal pain for a girl trying to do her makeup. - The shower head is low, a pet peeve of mine. I'm 6'3" which is not abnormally tall and had to bend down to get under the shower head. - The hotel does not offer complimentary breakfast, it must be purchased at their bistro. - Getting out of the hotel is an adventure. The driveway is located on curve in the road, on a hill, on a heavily trafficked road. You are blind in both directions to oncoming traffic. A right turn is the safer option but that takes you up the hill. Luckily I drive a Jeep and had plenty of power to jump out and go up the hill, if you drive a Corolla or Prius or anything else with a glorified lawnmower engine it you're risking getting rear ended. Turning left appeared to be foolish to me so I didn't bother. In conclusion, the Courtyard is a perfectly acceptable place to stay and I would not hesitate to stay there again. However, there are other options within a mile that I have stayed at (and Yelped about) that were nicer for a similar price. Therefore the Courtyard in Moosic would not be my first choice on my next trip through the area. read more

"I CAN DO ATTITUDE!" That is how I describe the service at this Courtyard! I am blown away and greatful for the excellent service I received! I arrived at 5:15, tired from a full day of work and then driving to the Courtyard. I pictured crashing in my room for a bit before finding a restaurant for dinner. To my surprise, I had a slow leak in my tire and knew it had to be dealt with immediately! UGH! Where to go, when to get it fixed...overwhelming at this moment! The people at the front desk jumped right in to assist me. They offered to call my tripple A, they had the matinence guy look at my tire, they called around to see who would fix my tire and then, they had a driver follow me to the auto tire place to make sure I was okay! Once I got to the auto place the driver offered to wait for me in case I needed a ride..but at that point I was in good hands! When I got back to the hotel, everyone was very happy to see me and happy It was all resolved. I never expected this kind of service and I was overly impressed with the entire front desk staff and maintenance people. They truely went above and beyond for me! Had I been at home when this all happened it would not have been a big deal...but when out of town, long day, cold night, it was a big deal. read more
