A great place for a camping spot. You setup wherever you want in the designated camping areas. The bathrooms are amazing!!! Each personal stake has a toilet, shower, heat and AC. An outdoor sink to wash your dishes. A spout for water to fill your water tank. If you get a good spot, there is power. But at night it becomes a way to meet others and enjoy the evening. If you are looking to be isolated; it's not the place. This is a social, friendly and enjoyable place to make friends. read more

We have decided to make this our annual vacation spot. Sunny Rest is a clothing-optional (except for the pool and hot tub area) resort with some of the best staff I've encountered in a long time. We generally vacation at a nude resort in Jamaica, but this time, we chose to spend our time together here. This place is economical and very close to a town that offers many amenities. When we arrived, it was a rainy week, but that didn't bother us, as our main goal was to spend quality time together. What I admire about this place is that they have nightly games at 6 pm each evening and delicious daily food and drink specials. My only issue with this place is the behavior of some permanent residents at the resort. They keep to themselves and rarely converse, even if approached first. After we decided to keep to ourselves and not try to engage with the group, we had a fantastic time. The rooms are clean, the beds are comfortable, the staff is super helpful, and you can even order food delivery through text. I can't wait to go back again next year! read more

Excellent and fun resort! It's vintage and it's clean. My grandfather had to land his plane on an emergency landing in this resort sometime in the 1960's. I can only imagine what his reaction was. I would buy a ticket to that! Sunny Rest is a nudist resort in Palmerton. It has been around for years. There is a gate and an attendant at the entry point. I believe for a day pass it's 55$, but if you plan to go a lot there is a membership you can purchase. They offer rooms and camping options too. There is a lovely pool and a huge whirlpool too, along with a poolside bar. There is also a restaurant with great food on site. You can get an incredible discount on the days Pretzel City Sports holds their two clothing optional races here. 10$ for spectators and you get full use of the resort. June 23rd this year is the "wiggle jiggle giggle" 5 K & "bouncing buns" is the 7k trail race on August 26th this year. If you want to knock this off your bucket list go to Pretzel City's website and register. You'll get a t shirt included too! If you've ever been a little curious and a little daring, I highly recommend you dip your toe in the pool and check it out on a race day. You don't have to even run if you don't want. I had a wonderful time. People are very respectful and friendly. I was there in the day time so I did not take advantage of the night club or the Karaoke event - which I would've LOVED!! On race days clothing is optional but you must be nude in the pool area. Enjoy and have fun! It's an experience you'll remember for a lifetime. Check out their events page. Overall: this resort has some really nice amenities, and if that is what your looking for, you will not be disappointed. The staff and regulars were great, and overall management of the property was well kept. My biggest recommendation for anyone planning to camp here would be to avoid sites C18-C30 if possible, RV or not. My wife and I are fairly new to visiting resorts and typically just goto the beach, or our secluded back yard so our expectations/ experiences may be different than a lot of others. We typically travel/ stay in our camper so this won't touch on the resorts rooms or cabins they have available. Our first impression-The check in: Check in was super smooth. The guard at the gate checked our reservation, gave us a map, and told us to go ahead and proceed to our site, once we were all set up we went to the office and checked in. The staff in the office were very pleasant, and gave us a quick run down of the rules and expectations, along with their (much appreciated) cell phone and mask policy. The camp site: The site we were on was probably the most difficult site we've ever had to set up on. We booked this trip a few months out and requested an RV specific site. We've been camping in an RV for many years and I've never had to parallel park facing in the wrong direction in order to fit on the site. One of the most challenging aspects of the site was how un-even it was. Because the ground sloped across 80% of the site, and because of the overall size of the site, we had to face our entrance door away from the road and put our tires up on 3 levels of leveling blocks. Admittedly the number of blocks under the wheels was minimal compared to some of our neighbors on our row. There was one camper I saw wheels up about 12" off the ground on one side. The other sites we saw through out the camping area were fairly level so we must have just gotten whatever was left over when we booked. This was a busy weekend so every site was booked up. If anyone from Sunny Rest is reading this: please (for fellow RV'rs) consider leveling out sites c18-c30. The pool/ amenities: Overall this place offers some really nice amenities. The pool, conversation pool, and the hot tub were all very clean and well kept. The outdoor hot tub is new and had a nice outdoor shower next to it, making it easier to rinse off before and after soaking. We didn't checkout the indoor night club, though it may have been closed due to COVID, there was a DJ Saturday night on the pool deck and a band playing during the day keeping things entertaining. This was a busy weekend (naked 5k, and volleyball tournament) so availability of chairs was a down side for us. (There were non available) We set out our towels on the grass next to the volleyball courts and even that was tough finding available space. The regulars told us (after the fact) that the thing to do is to go and put your towel out in the morning before it gets crowded... We did take a walk along the nature trail, and this was one of my favorite features of the resort. The trail was nicely maintained and well marked. Not the longest hike, but more than what I expected. The feeling of walking naked in the woods feels truly connecting with your surroundings, more so than we've experienced before. The crowd: The people we met and spoke with here were nothing short of pleasant and welcoming. Anyone we interacted with was exactly what you would expect at a reputable place like this. Though there was definitely a "Lifestyle" vibe in the conversation pool and hot tub at times (partner trading who sits on who's lap) we were never approached, though we did get out at one point when people started acting inappropriately. To the resorts credit, their security staff DID act on the situation and put a damper on their fun before anyone had to say anything. Covid handling: Masks were required at any "service" station- at the pool side bar, food truck, inside the office and the resort did a great job enforcing this. I've seen on the webpage and other social media platforms about a bracelet to indicate your socially distancing, we never saw anyone wearing a bracelet, nor was one offered to us at any point. Most people were doing the right thing though and keeping a good distance, anytime my wife and I felt it was getting too crowded for our liking we just simply got up and moved to another less crowded area. WOW!! Where do I begin? This was my first visit and last visit at Shiitty Rest. Checking In: I entered the "resort" office. I walk in, and barely even get a hello or a welcome.. They don't even take your temperature like every other hotel I've been at this summer. At first I bought a day pass, because that was my original plan, but extended my stay for 4 nights. (One of the Worst Decisions of MY LIFE). The rep who was checking me in was so miserable! She didn't offer me a tour, tell me about the resort, or even give me a map of the property! They didn't even hand me a map. Didn't tell me any rules or regulations eitherI had to go back into the office to find a map. All she said was, "that's the pool." Really? I've been in and out of customer service for 25 years, and I have never treated a guest/customer the way I was treated. The Room: So, I get to the room, and it's like an oven, there's a couple of dead bugs on the floor, and 2 of the drawers in the dresser smelled like mildew. Also, regarding the room, it bounces! If people are walking on the deck or even the couple next-door walking around or having sex, the room bounces like a basketball! Oh, and there's no room service or fresh towels or fresh sheets, or fresh anything. The Pool Area: I was there for 4 nights and a half of a day (I'll explain the half day later if you're still reading), and did not once see anyone cleaning the pool, wiping down chairs, checking chlorine, or anything else regarding maintenance or cleaning, especially during COVID!!! Disgusting! Bugs in the pool. They say the hot tub is open either 24 hours or until 2AM. We never got an actual time, but either way they closed it at 11PM! Food and Bar: Apparently, there was an electrical fire in the onsite restaurant, which they failed to mention on the website. Instead they have this food truck there that only has food if you're looking to carb load, and it's not very good. You're supposed to get a free breakfast, which you do, but don't ask for a side of fruit or an extra bagel, because they'll charge you. Oh, and for your "free" breakfast, you have to tip a MANDATORY 18% tip, which you're forced to do at the bar as well. Pretty sleazy! With A Cherry On Top!: I met this girl on bumble, and we had been chatting for a few days. I told her that I was on vacay, and that we should wait to meet in person until I left. After going back and forth for a while we both agreed to just meet and get it over with. So, she came up to the resort. She was able to come right to my room. Nobody asked her to register or anything when they opened the gate for her. She was supposed to stay for a drink or 2, but that was to be it. However, she got friendly with this swinger couple and started hanging out with them. I left to run some errands, and come back and see her with the female swinger with containers of food! I told her she better not have charged the food to my room and she nodded her head in agreement I then went back to my room until the next morning, because I was extremely hurt that she came to visit with me, but ended up with the swingers. Oh well. The next morning I checked out and was told that she purchased food under my account, that I did not authorize! The check out lady told me that I gave my permission for her to get food, which I DID NOT! I told them that if anyone should pay for the food, it should be the swingers, but they continued to charge me. Any other hotel or resort would try to accommodate their guest, but not this place. I said, "This is BS," and the lady replied, "Well, you don't ever have to come back." "This place is a shit-hole anyways," I said, and went to the pool. 15 mins later this lady with a security guard told me that I am no longer allowed on the property and can never come back! They would not refund my money for them forcing me to leave before I was planning to. The security guard watched as I went to my car, and made sure I left the premises. You would think I was a criminal or something the way that I was treated! I have never been treated like this anywhere, let alone on vacation! As an influencer, I am really looking forward to sharing this to my 25K plus followers!!! There were so many better ways that you could've handled this! I'm not a criminal, geez! read more

We visited Sunny Rest resort for July 4 long weekend - We arrived the Thursday before. We tented so I can't say anything about the rooms, but the bathroom and shower facilities were adequate and clean. Its a beautiful large property with trails and all. We visited the bar and snack bar many times during our stay. Bar service was fast and friendly. the food was adequate but seemed just thrown together at times - but it was a busy weekend so maybe that played into it. The pizza was pretty good and we were surprised it was actually real pizza and not some frozen stuff The service at the snackbar was not to great. We visited for breakfast lunch and dinner and can't say anyone was that pleasant or helpful except for the one guy taking orders. Seemed like we were bothering them or interrupting them from something whenever we showed up so we started ordering from the pool bar most of the time. The first morning we were there (friday) we interupted the girl who was working (dark curly hair I think) from her smoke break and got the 'hold on darlin' while she finished up her 'cigarette'. the next time we went up that day for lunch it was like we were an inconvenience to them all when we pulled her and the other male staff away from looking at something on her cell phone. She had a real attitude when all we wanted was some food without having to drive off property. The older gentleman who served us a few times over the weekend was good. Real personable even though he looked hot and busy. The pool area was a little crowded at times for my taste, but the view and music was good The resort is green friendly and everyone (including the on duty staff which surprised me) seemed to be partaking. We enjoyed the freedom to partake in the friendly environment and even got some accessories from the shop. Overall- we will probably go again but would go when it was alittle less busy. Scheduled activities and music were fun. Will definitely pack a cooler too since the snack bar was such a hassle for the employee to serve us. The people we met and hung out with were friendly and welcoming. We made some great friends and most of the staff were great and the security presence made us feel safe. The fireworks were fantastic and that was the highlight of the trip. 3 stars because of rude, unhelpful staff and poor food service which is important when your staying somewhere for 4 days. read more

I am a big fan of clothing optional beaches, so have been spending most of my free summer weekends at the shore. Finally making it to Sunny Rest with a friend reminded me of how freeing and enjoyable it is to be in wooded nature as well. This resort's swimming pool, conversation pool, and outdoor lounging area are all very nice. The food was good, though I would have preferred another vegetarian option or two. I especially like the fact that there are plenty of opportunities for a party atmosphere with the bar, karaoke, and nightclub, and the overnight camping area can be a bit more relaxing if that is desired. Sunny Rest is a choose your own adventure kind of place, and I am very much looking forward to visiting again next season. read more

Went for the first time this past weekend and had a blast. Initially had planned to just stay for the day and then decided to stay over. The room was clean and had what we needed. The pool, conversation pool and outside bar were lots of fun. I read some of the old reviews that were not so good, but whatever was going on a few years ago has been corrected. I understand they now have a professional company that cleans the pools and handles the chemicals. Any oil on top of the water is from sunscreen that didn't get washed off (and the signs ask that you please rinse off). The outdoor showers were great and clean. They could use a few more umbrellas by the pool, but that's not such a big deal. The night club "flashers" was fun and everyone was having a good time. Other reviewers talked about there being a strong swinger presence, but I think if that is what you are looking for then you will find it anywhere. People were having fun and it is up to each individual to decide what conversations and behaviors you are interested in, there was NO pressure to do anything and I did not see any public sexual activity. There were some groups that were more open than others to that world but it is not out there in the open for everyone to see and can easily be walked away from. There is security and they walk around and patrol the grounds, including the night club. They did not stop people from having fun but also keep any uncomfortable situations from happening. We also noticed children of all ages, infants, toddlers, elementary kids and preteen, and no one acting inappropriately in front of the kids. Opting to get a room waived the day pass fees and included breakfast. We bought A LOT of souvenirs (3 sweatshirts, a t shirt, a tank top, a bag and a cup, we ate lunch and dinner (for 2) and drank only about 3 cocktails (order a double if you want them stronger), along with renting a golf cart and the bill was very reasonable. $217 for the room which included our day passes for 2 days and breakfast- maybe because we are from just outside of Manhattan, but that seemed like a good deal. Place is a Dump always smells like sewage, the staff are very Rude the pools need better maintenance! Forget getting any good food there drinks are weak and overpriced! They keep having fires and what I was told the restaurant and night club were remodeled with NO permits pulled all done illegally don't know how they are still open but I'm sure it will catch up to them. Went here for the first time with some friends. HAD A GREAT TIME!!!! So much to do and see, great pool, great conversation pool, nice vollyball court. The night club was off the hook. The DJs were fantastic. Had live music by the pool, lots of planned activities if you are into that, or nature trails if you are into that. We stayed at the tent camping area. Imagion doing woodstock naked. Overall, I would give this place 6 stars if I could. read more

Entering with your camper in tow is tight, check in could be more welcoming, drinks at the outdoor bar were weak, and breakfast at restaurant was pricey. Pool and hot tubs are very nice, plenty of activities, club is very modern and had a very good DJ on Friday night 7/19/2013. Outdoor showers are great, clean facilities, spacious full hook up sites, most people we encountered were friendly and we do recommend Sunny Rest as well as we will be returning for many more visits. read more

Make guests shower prior to hot tub , and pool. Water is dirty from over population . Speed up kitchen help, and don't allow them to hang out and smoke outside for all to see. I have camped here awhile back but never stayed in the room until this weekend. It was great, rooms were nice, clean, tidy and there is coffee in the room, breakfast included. The trail was fun as well as the pool and hot tub area. My massage therapist was amazing i had aches and pains from walking the past few days--- all gone. I can't wait to go back! read more

I had the opportunity to visit Sunny Rest Resort Saturday August 19, 2017 for their Bare Vine Wine Fest. This was my first visit to a domestic nudist resort. I have always wanted to explore a domestic nudist resort since I frequented international clothing-optional resorts. You are greeted by security upon entering the grounds of Sunny Rest Resort, and directed to their main office. Your driver's license is required and the option of placing a credit card on file to purchase food, alcoholic beverages, and items. Sunny Rest Resort policy and map is provided, and then you are directed to the guest parking area. My friend and I were treated incredibly well at Sunny Rest Resort. There is a swimming pool, restaurant, and night club on site. The Bare Vine Wine Fest was held on their sandy volley ball court. Various vineyards were well represented by clothed employees offering samples and bottles of wine for sale. The guests in attendance welcomed us with open arms, and showed us around the camp grounds where there were cabins, tents, and RV's. The campground resemble a small community where everybody helps each other out. Unfortunately we did not spend the night at Sunny Rest Resort due to their cabin rates, which were expensive. The economical choice to stay at Sunny Rest Resort is the camp grounds. Invest in a sturdy tent and a air mattress, if you decide to stay on the campgrounds. The campground rates are inexpensive. My friend and I rented a room at Super 8 Allentown West Kurtztown, which is a thirty minute drive away. We had the opportunity to dine in their restaurant. Very interesting experience dining in the nude. Please note, the staff in the restaurant are clothed. I loved the evening's entertainment featuring the live cover band: Shake Shake Shake. I love live entertainment, and they were great. I found my new happy place: Sunny Rest Resort. I look forward to returning in the near future. read more

My first time here and was so sorry I never made it here sooner. Very friendly staff at the gate and in the office, very accommodating, easy check in, easy to park. When you walk in past the office you are literally smack dab in the middle of the resort and everything is pretty much in a circle and within a few steps of each other. To the left at 9:00 is the heated pool, next is the bathroom/shower house at 10:00, the bar is at 12:00, the conversation or whirl pool is at 1:00, the seating is at 3:00 and right behind that is the volleyball area and at 6:00 is the restaurant. Very clean, great layout, lots of activities going on and many very nice, friendly people. Came back later in the evening for the disco - so much fun - great DJ, nice bar, great environment. I cannot wait to come back here and either bring the RV, rent a room or get a hotel nearby and just be free! read more

This is our first year visiting Sunny Rest, and we sorely regret not having gotten here sooner. Friendly people, lots to do and well maintained. We have gotten here as often as our schedule allows this year and will continue to find time to return. Most unusual for a resort of this type is the food- surprisingly well prepared, delicious to eat, and reasonably priced. After many visits this season and consistently good meals, what finally got me to write the review was a special order- when I asked them to take their best shot at making a buffalo chicken cheese steak (not a menu item). What Chef Marisa sent out was delicious enough to be added as a regular menu item. I know, I know - just a cheesesteak. Thing is, we all have seen things just thrown together and sent out. I didn't expect much, was just hoping for something decent. What I got was good tasting and assembled by someone who clearly gave a crap about what they were doing. The food in the on site bistro is great, no need to leave. I have tent camped in the past and even that was nice. The people here are very welcoming and the staff is super accommodating. I usually come here twice a year for the two running races that the resort hosts. There's is quite a bit of land here which is nice if you need elbow room. The pool area can get festive with live music and water volleyball. The restaurant means you don't have to leave the gates just to eat.
