We unexpectedly had to travel to the Scranton area 2 get married under some difficult family circumstances with my father-in-law ill at the time. I wanted to make our wedding night something special despite the fact that it was not as planned. The owner was able, on short notice, to make arrangements to have a small wedding cake in our room, and had sparkling cider ready for us when we returned from exchanging our vows. The Silo room is the honeymoon suite of this location. A multi floor Suite with Gorgeous views, the Silo Room has a separate area with couch and television, as well as a oversized bathroom with whirlpool tub. A small kitchenette with coffee or tea making supplies, a small fridge and microwave made this a mini home away from home. One of the minor but strange things about this location is the door between the bathroom and the bedroom in The Silo room only has lace. You can look directly from the toilet to the bedroom, so if you are sharing that room with someone make sure there aren't any secrets between you! Breakfast was simple fare, but fresh and plentiful. Our order was taken the night before and everything was ready when we came downstairs. We had an omelet with ham and cheese, plenty of toast and muffins, and hot tea . If you like train memorabilia, this place is the spot for you. The owner has a mind-boggling assortment of miniature trains, antiques, signs and collectibles. There are other buildings in the Red Barn Village complex, including a retro store, a market, and mini golf. We did not get a chance to experience those, and we may need to do so next time. There will definitely be a next time, the owner here cares about his customers and it shows.

We were quickly seated, and the place was pretty full. It looked like a private event (bridal shower?) was happening outside. We both ordered the same things. The soup and salad option with the French onion upgrade and Caesar salad. The French onion was one of the best I have ever had. The broth was rich, the onions were plentiful, the cheese perfectly toasted, and the crouton the perfect foil. It was so good we ate it slowly and even drank the broth (I know that's uncouth, but it was so good and nobody knew us there) from the bowls. We even scraped off every single bit of the toasty cheese on the sides of the bowl. I would go there just for the soup. The salad was also good. A small portion since it was a combo option, but the dressing was excellent, there were large shreds of asiago cheese, and actual anchovies. The only complaint was that it wasn't a bigger salad. Again, left nothing on the plate. The soup and salad dish was $15 because of the upgrade for the French onion soup. The service was fantastic. The place has a rustic but elegant feel. Lots of wood. I bet this place is beautiful decorated for Christmas. Great experience and a perfect place to eat on the first day of a road trip.

Desk agent asked if I was parking a car in the garage next door and I said yes. After that.....poof, no charge. If you need to be in Scranton proper for any reason this place is perfectly located. Very close to the University of Scranton, Steamtown, any of the actual in town sites from The Office and right off of 81. No real issue with the room. The carpet was stained in multiple spots but aside from that, everything worked as advertised. While there are several bars/restaurants close by, I opted to stay in since I was beat from a long kayak trip and had another one the next day. The restaurant, PJ's 1910 Pub, ain't sexy, but it gets the job done. Note that the menu on the website, while close, is not accurate to what they actually serve and that's aside from the specials they offer which you can read about while waiting for the elevator in the lobby. www.pjs1910pub.com/our-menu/ www.google.com/maps/@41.4069365,-75.6628473,3a,75y,102.53h,106.1t/data=!3m7!1e1!3m5!1sCIHM0ogKEICAgIC65bKtlAE!2e10!6shttps:%2F%2Flh3.googleusercontent.com%2Fgpms-cs-s%2FAB8u6HagnZJGyLen0DpKLPxZwFB46LEzYuh1-XTMR3WqR6bwVUW2ZpuOZVSwZds6DO36nf4V0fB4b-SC6N44VU80mhmCvIgPHRXhUVFMv7SEehJN9DJNvB_KKIjAaihiAEu_089swzqVAw%3Dw900-h600-k-no-pi-16.096135953756686-ya220.9319001501209-ro0-fo100!7i13872!8i6936?entry=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MTAwOC4wIKXMDSoASAFQAw%3D%3D The burger was good enough, the fries were well seasoned and the adult libations were heavily overpriced but considering the source, none of the above was shocking. Good enough hang with the small group at the bar which consisted of a few guests and what seemed like a few locals that stop by frequently since the staff knew exactly what they were drinking as soon as they got there. At the end of the day, this place isn't new and it isn't modern but to me it more than gets the job done and commensurate to the price, I can't complain. Good Enough.

Amenities include a small arcade room that held a claw machine and a video game. The indoor pool is small but there are towels and seating. The gym, also small, has new equipment. An outdoor patio includes a fire pit and seating. All the public areas are clean and in good condition. I didn't look for a laundry, so check their website for that information. I booked through their app and a King Suite was eight dollars more than a King room. After traveling for several days I thought the extra space would be welcome . Definitely worth a few dollars more. The long entry into the room has enough space to set up the portable luggage rack. A wet bar in this space includes a fridge and microwave. The closet has a few hangers plus an extra blanket, iron and board. The bathroom is spacious. Plenty if counter space. Clean. Multi-use body wash, shampoo, conditioner and skin cream. Enough soft and absorbant towels for our one night stay. Ice bucket was located here as well. Next to the entryway is a couch, coffee table, small kitchen table, two chairs and a coffee maker. The King bed is further in the room, across from a luggage rack/bench, dresser and TV. A comfy seat, ottoman and desk area are by the window. Bed was comfortable. Heat control on the wall. Everything in the room was in good condition and clean. We could have checked in via the app, but chose to do so onsite. Receptionist was pleasant and the process quick. She told us what time breakfast was served as she handed us the key. There are a few restaurants within walking distance. The hotel market includes soft drinks and beers as well as snacks and microwaveable items. Breakfast hot items were sausage, biscuits and gravy. Oatmeal was instant packets instead of the crockpot cooked version. Cold cereals and break items as expected. Milk was available in one of two fridges. Coffee station is across from the food area with nice big take away cups, tea and cocoa. A pancake maker is near the coffee. A fireplace was burning during breakfast service. Several work station type seating is available in the middle of the room and smaller tables along the window wall. A staff member kept everything in order. Plenty of parking. Close enoigh to the highway and within quick driving distance of shopping, fuel and restaurants.

It had a fitness room which is a rarity in two star hotels (why I picked it) and the price was lower than you'd pay for a 3 star. The front desk staff was friendly. The free breakfast was basic but nice. I went with packaged yogurt and fruit plus coffee and instant oatmeal. Pretty decent. The room was small and had a musty odor. Sheets were wrinkled. As others have mentioned, it's hard finding the entrance to the hotel from the street. The walls do seem a bit on the thin side, but I slept fine regardless. The hotel seemed safe but some other guest behavior left me scratching my head. (Passing the breakfast nook late morning, I spotted a family eating there barefoot....so not the classiest clientele) Location is pretty good, close to plenty of the shops and attractions in Dickson City. I came here while visiting family. I wouldn't be excited at the prospect of coming back here necessarily, but I would consider it.

For that reason this was the perfect place and for the perfect price. Amongst all our various hotel check-ins, this was by far the most efficient and quickest check-in. As soon as we parked our vehicle, we walked in, and gave our name and received a key. The room was clean, though it oddly reminded me of an old cruise ship with its wooden interior and mud-colored carpet in a cozy setting. Heater/ air conditioner also needs a desperate cleaning. If I'm not mistaken, there was mole in the vent. My respiratory system is very sensitive to smoke and on clean air. As soon as I started coughing and feeling uneasy, I decided to check the vents and noticed what look like mold. Other than that, I liked everything else about the room. The breakfast in the morning was decent for what one would pay for this hotel. They don't have any protein besides boiled eggs, but I was there for the waffles. The staff was also very friendly and efficient. Again, this four-star out of five rating is while keeping in mind that this is a budget hotel.
