PLEASE DO NOT STAY HERE!! This hotel is beyond disappointing for being a Marriott property! The front desk staff in the evening and morning was not bad, and generally helpful but that is the ONLY positive about this place. For starters they advertise a whirlpool/hot tub in the property both online and on a directional sign in the building however there is no whirlpool to be found, and not even an area in the pool room where one might've been at one time. The elevator was a complete death trap and smelled musty, as did the hallways. The room was outdated, dirty, and downright disgusting! There was black mold on the ceiling and in the shower, and there was a left over to go box on the ground from a previous guest. The beds were very overused and old and the all the appliances including the tv were at least 12+ years old. There was also no clock in the room at all. The room was also right next to the highway and the window was drafty so the noise of cars revving and buzzing was constant and kept my family up a lot of night. The worst part of this stay was the giant cockroach looking bug (not 100% sure it was a roach but pretty certain) that came crawling out from behind a picture and onto the wall/ceiling! This place needs to be shut down by the health department or at the very least extensively cleaned and remodeled. As a long time Marriott member I am appalled at this disgrace of a hotel and am most certainly never coming back!! read more

I had higher hopes for a Courtyard Marriott. However, I was quite disappointed. The nicest part of the hotel was the group of women who had checked me into my room at midnight is so. Despite the late time, they were quote funny and joyful. My room was mediocre and typical. Beds, mini fridge, etc. However, there was not any soap in the shower so I had to use the 1 bar of hand soap for the shower and the sink. Also, the shower curtain rod was heavily dented in as if someone had been hanging from it previously so I had worried the rod would fall completely. Unfortunately, the internet on the TV did not work during my stay so one could not stream Netflix, Amazon Prime, etc. There is no breakfast included naturally in this hotel. However, one can pay for an expensive Starbucks breakfast. I am a long time Bonvoy member of the hotel, so my breakfast was fortunately included. However, the workers seemed a little uninterested in being there (if they were there at all as one morning I did have to wait a while for someone to show up to the counter). I had only gotten premade things from the cafe (muffins, apple juice, etc) as I did not love the appearance behind the counter. This was overall not a horrible experience. I just had higher standards for Courtyard I suppose. I would come back if I had to but I would prefer to go back to Staybridge Suites which I have gone to before. read more

I purchase 2 rooms for this hotel, costing over $400 total. The room I was in was absolutely atrocious and was even more disgusted come daylight. I expect to pay 50$ for a room this nasty, not $212. I'd love money back. Do not recommend. Black mold in bathroom, windows dirty (who knows what's on there) patio door broken, screen ripped, garbage on the roof- I could've cleaned it off myself. For these prices these issues shouldn't even be a concern. I'm very much allergic to black mold too. So this has been great healing from my stay. read more

Great location in the Hotel District off of Van Dyke Fwy. Lots of restaurants and shopping nearby. We chose this location because it's close to family and the main drag. Nice service at the front desk. Same lady at night and also in the morning. Hope she gets a break. This is an older Courtyard hotel and is in desperate need of some updates and TLC. My impression of this hotel group is it costs more per night and does not serve complimentary breakfast because it has better rooms and nicer beds. Not at this location. The beds were old and the bedding very thin. The air conditioner: heater is the box unit under the window. It was so hot when we first arrived. Overnight it slowly cooled down to be more moderate in the room. However, our teenage son who slept on the fold out sofa was too cold by morning. Brown stain in the duvet cover on our bed day one and day two. Hmm, they don't change or clean those duvet covers! Pink and black mold all over the bathroom ceiling. Will we be back? Not likely. But thanks for the weekend. read more

I am staying here for a work-related trip. The staff has been very friendly and accommodating. I was checked in early and with ease. The lobby has been updated, has a Starbucks counter and is cute, but the rooms need refreshing. My room is clean but there is peeling wallpaper and some mold on the bathroom ceiling. It's not a bad value and fits the bill for this particular trip. read more

The hotel is very dated, dark and beat up. About 8:15 this morning Housekeeping came by knocking on our door- not to clean our room - they had no cleaning cart in the entire hallway - they came to wake us up and roust us out. So, now we're awake after arriving quite late, there's a used coffee pack in the coffee machine and no new coffee packs in the room - the room obviously was poorly prepared before we arrived. So, we go to the lobby, guess what - no coffee in the lobby and no breakfast. This hotel is terrible at customer service. We complained at the front desk - no apology just an offer of the managers business card. Terrible. read more

Horrific! I travel a few days a week and a Marriot Gold Member.This is without a doubt, the worst Courtyard I have ever experienced. I came for the first last month and was hesitant to come back because of room smelling like smoke and having to change rooms. Unfortunately, I tried again last night. My first sign should have been that my room number was written in sharpie pen and there was no number plate next to the door. I walked in and it was clear that the bathroom wasn't clean...disgusting muddy footprints, an open bar of soap on the bathroom counter and filth and hair in the shower. When I turned on the faucet in the sink, the water pressure was so low that only a small trickle came out. I went to my room phone to call downstairs, but when I picked up the receiver, there was liquid and I decided to not put that on my ear. I sent a message in the Marriott app to explain what was going on, but there was no response until I checked out the next day. The next morning I attempted to shower, but the water pressure was too low and the shower was filthy, so I used bottled water to wet a wash cloth to attempt a bird bath since the shower wasn't usable. I would have been better of at a motel 6. Highly do not recommend!! Also, there was trash in my trash cans. It had not been emptied before my arrival. I could barely sleep knowing I was in filth! read more

The lobby is a mess, the staff are dressed in street clothes no name badges to identify as staff. Copy paper signs taped up everywhere with useless information and guidelines that are not enforced. The first room we were assigned had black mold in the bathroom. We were reassigned to a room with a ripped up screen on the window, a couch with a bed sheet over the cushion to hide damage, most outlets don't work, clock is broken, small coffe maker no coffee and broken toilet seat. The carpet has visible stains all over I walked in my flip flops the whole time. The staff were as helpful as they could be with obvious limited resources. Very disappointed in Marriot as we have had good experiences at other locations. read more

Her initials are IDM on my receipt. She said her name was Renee. Called to talk to the manager and would not let me talk to her. I hope someone from headquarters sees this. Horrible experience! Actually by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed at - all due to management and how they handle their customer service. I have made multiple attempts to their manager for help and have yet to receive a call back. I was charged twice for the same room for one night. One charge from reservation.com and one charge from this hotel. Courtyard was supposed to be crediting my account for all of the problems encountered during our stay, but instead, billed me again. Over $400 for one standard room for one night! WTH! After checking in and unpacking, we learned the TV didn't work. That's a pretty big deal on NYE with kids. They told Us we had to pack up and move into a new room. Huge inconvenience. Our new room had blood on the bed and the toilet didn't flush. There were many other problems with the room but it's obvious - no one there cares. I was told the manager handles two locations and she doesn't have time to return calls. wow! Avoid This place! We stayed here 4 nights when visiting for a wedding. The hotel was fairly standard. Rooms were fairly updated and other than some minor ongoing repairs the lobby was nice as well. WHAT REALLY SETS THEM APART IS THEIR SERVICE We were warmly greeted by Kathy on arrival. We had 2 separate rooms for our party and everything was as requested. As we were walking to our rooms we were enthusiastically greeted by our housekeeper Lefty who immediately asked us if we needed anything additional. She was super throughout the stay always giving us extra effort and always asking if we needed anything extra. I have traveled extensively for years and truly don't think I have ever encountered a housekeeper who so greatly and clearly enjoyed her job and took such joy in what she did. She greeted us just as warmly when we left as she did the day we arrived. Pat gave us great service on checking out and even assisted my wife with a minor repair on a jacket she tore that morning. Rooms and lobby area was always clean. Plenty of daily newspapers and actually 3 separate computers in their business area. Bistro area seemed busy and the food seemed to come out very quickly. We will definitely come back to this location next time in Detroit as service and cleanliness are so much more important to me than anything else. read more

Booked room for our family of four to stay after a concert. Checked via the app, to save time. Got in and still had to do all the check in steps. Room was only prepped for two people to stay in. No coffee cups or coffee provided in the room. Cleaners left cleaning supplies in the room, bathroom moldy, and windows screens were damaged. No food service is available. read more

This hotel is basically a dump. The rooms are dirty, the common area is a mess, and the hotel staff won't even clean your room without a special request. The toilet seat was broken, the shower curtain was loose, and the carpet had large black spots over it. There are almost never staff at the front desk, and those who are there are fairly disconnected. Its comments about cleanliness during the Covid pandemic are just comments--they do nothing to effectuate a clean and sanitary stay. Save yourself money and grief and avoid this hotel--there are several other chains in the immediate area. read more

I stayed here on points for two nights while visiting family friends and taking care of some family business. This property is pretty typical of a contemporary Courtyard and that, by and large, is a good thing. Nicely maintained, clean and functional rooms. Decent decor. There is a Bistro on site; I had a breakfast there that was quite good (egg white fritatta). Front desk personnel were reasonably pleasant. The location is a bit odd, at the end of a street that's accessed through a shopping area then a community of townhomes. I'm a big walker, and there are restaurants and shopping within what is walking distance for me but which might be too far for many people (though still within a very easy drive.) Free parking and wifi. I'll likely be back in the area in the future and I'm likely to return to this property when I do. read more

Ugh, this property looked and felt like a Courtyard slapped on a Motel 6. Nothing was updated (HVAC needed to be updated--we have a wall air conditioner we had to set at 66 degrees to even tolerate the heat and humidity in the room. Bed was uncomfortable, and both front sliding door and side door were broke. When we got to our room (on a sold out night), our light over the sink worked for my husband worked, then 10 minutes later when I tried it, the light wouldn't. I was told that maintenance would look at after 10 AM the next day. How terribly convenient--not! Then the next morning it turned on. Front desk says that it's a non-essential light if there is problems with the power from storms. Huh? Nobody else in the area had that problem. Property was dirty and not up to Marriott standards. So disappointed from someone who stayed 97 nights last year at Marriott, I've seen a range. This rated as the worst. read more

I arrived at 5pm on May 16th to find out that the hotel was overbooked and that there wasn't a room for me. I guess I was the last of the "too many" guests to arrive so I didn't get a room. I suppose I was the last to arrive because I had just drove 10 hours from Philadelphia. Never mind the fact that I booked under a wedding and there was supposed to be rooms blocked off for us and that I booked my room well in advance. The manager must have said, "I understand" about 47 times. If he did understand, I would have had a room. Hey, but it was okay, they arranged for me to have a room at The StayBridge next door and the Marriott paid for it. That wasn't the point though. I wasn't concerned about the money. I was already prepared to pay for my own room. It's asinine to overbook like that. I guess Marriott feels it's better to inconvenience a weary traveler than to risk not selling out every single room. I'm assuming they overbook so if there are cancellations then they'll still be at capacity. It was also discourteous and unprofessional to not call me in advance to let me know the situation. Instead, they waited until I was tired and stressed from a long drive and standing in their lobby with my arms full of bags to break the news to me. I would love to know how long Courtyard / Marriott knew they were overbooked. Did they know the situation in advance and not bother to notify me (and probably others)? Or did they just give my room away that day? Either way, they're top notch a**holes. Oh, and what if StayBridge didn't have a vacancy that night? That was quite possible because they were completely booked for the following night. I will certainly never book at a Marriott or Courtyard ever again if at all possible, even if it costs me more money per night. Even though the hotel was nice (they did have my room for the 17th), I won't give my money to an establishment that is so unprofessional and disrespectful. read more

Business travel gets older and older every year, just like me! Knowing where to stay makes a big difference and Marriott Courtyard is a reliable brand. They usually have full service bars and light meal cafes open to 10:00 or so which is a god send. No free breakfast but, on the other hand, no powdered eggs, cold biscuits and greasy sausage. The vent fans, AC and bathroom in my room were a bit noisy but they did not keep me up. The bed was comfortable and this place was easy to find with my GPS. read more

This location was perfectly located near everything I came to Michigan to do - including eating lots of yummy food. I stay in quite a few hotels and by far this one had the nicest staff that I've encountered in a long time. Everyone was beyond friendly and helpful no matter if it was helping me locate a straw for my drink or if it was helping me figure out wifi on my new laptop. I'll admit that my only complaint was that the hallway noise is excessive, but then again I was near an elevator so it's my fault for not requesting something else. I cannot say enough nice things about this location. Definitely the preferred hotel for our multiple trips back 'home' we make per year. read more

This hotel is very dirty! I have been here for 1 wk for a business trip and have not heard the housekeepers use the vacuum once...I had french fries on my floor when I initially arrived into my room. The elevator floor and stairwells haven't been cleaned either...same dirt and grim since I arrived. Ceiling tiles are missing from the hallways, emergency door in the stairwell has caution tape across it due to the door falling apart. There continental breakfast is a joke too....which they don't even stock on a daily bases...two out of the six days and couldn't even make coffee one of the days. Good customer service from all the staff, but the hotel is outdated. No valet or help with our luggages at the front door. When we entered our room, it had an bad odor probably coming from the carpet. I was surprised that this location only has one connecting room in the whole hotel. When your traveling with multiple families you need the convenience of connecting rooms. Won't stay here again for these reasons. read more

I would give 0 stars if I could. I arrive at 330 am after driving 11 hours from NYC (and scaling through their obstacle course of a parking lot due to the *major construction* they didn't even mention was going on at booking) only to be told they don't actually have the room I reserved, in fact, they don't have any room at all. Don't worry though, they were "very sorry for the inconvenience." So sorry in fact they made accommodations for me at La Quinta... no offense to the lovely people of La Quinta but it's hardly the Marriott, and not what I was paying for. Whatever. I ask the receptionist if these accommodations are just for tonight or for all 3 nights I booked for? "All three nights," she assures me. I collect my belongings head back out into the impound lot-esque, car jungle parking lot and make my way over to La Quinta. Upon arrival Im told the Marriott has only paid for one night, tonight, meaning I'd have to check out in a few short hours. I call the Marriott back and ask them to please inform La Quinta that this would be a 3 night stay. "Oh well I just spoke to my manager," my new friend and receptionist at the Marriott says, "and my manager says we have rooms tomorrow and Monday so you can just come back tomorrow." C'mon, this makes no sense man. Im supposed check in to La Quinta at 4 am, to check out at noon, to recheck into the Marriott at 3? Who wants to do all that traveling, while traveling? No thanks, refund me my money. I just felt like the back and forth, lack of communication, and lack of empathy on the Marriotts part was really disappointing and not what I'd expect from them. 0/10 and would probably not stay again. read more

Still a Courtyard. I came in here right in the middle of construction, and it has been a pain in the butt, you couldn't come in through the front entrance, and I worked a 2nd shift so I was sleeping during the day and I could hear some of the noise in my room. So, I would hope that by the time you come to this hotel it's all good to go. The rooms are already renovated so they are nice. The staff is super friendly and welcoming. They also give me 250 extra points if you refuse the housekeeping for the day. I thought that was a brilliant idea because I really don't need housekeeping every day and I get rewarded for it too?!, bring it! Nice area around and plenty of restaurants choices. read more

Clean hotel in a decent area. Unfortunately our ac didn't work well the first night and the room was hot and stuffy. We notified the desk in the morning and hey promptly sent up maintenance who recommended we switch to another room. This was handled quickly. The room decor is a bit outdated. The mattress was on the soft side but tolerable. No free breakfast here. On site cafe but the food is overpriced. Pool is small and the hot tub was not working properly. read more

This hotel needs to get an upgrade! Stayed here with family for a wedding and couldn't get connecting rooms so lame! Had a shot at the bar and it was $15. You can hear everything through the walls and whatever is going on outside your door. (Nightmare). No valet and there was no help with our bags. The pool was out of service! They only give you one key to the room. Annoying! I don't recommend this hotel. read more

After a complete makeover this place is much nicer than it was and its right next to Dave and Busters so you'll always have something to do when travelling. I miss the continental buffet but the new café is nice enough. It snowed the one night I was here and one of the staff went out and cleared off all the windows of the cars. Was a very nice stay. Yes you can hear the traffic noise but the staff is super friendly. The pool and whirlpool were a lot of fun. Having a whirlpool tub in the room was very fun. The place is spotless. Considering it's a cheaper type of hotel, I think it was very nice. read more

They did fire alarm checks all day one day during our vacation and then told us they would be cleaning the carpet in our room the next day. We were on vacation and just wanted some peace and quiet and not be told we needed to leave our hotel room to accommodate them. The maid also ignored our do not disturb sign on our door and tried to barge in on us. Pathetic. We won't be staying at Marriott again. read more

considering all the construction, staff did a good job of making what was left known and livable. the ordinary guest room valiantly trying to pass itself off as a fitness room was just .... creepy. kudos for keeping the pools up and running. i wonder about safety in a building whose prime egress was totally cut off. not any kind of expert on that but hope the fire dept signed off on it. helpful and friendly as usual, but note to trainees or anyone who has not worked face to face with the customers, please read this.... speak slowly, as not everyone gets the urban staccato memes that seem produced in a different time bubble. clue ::: if more than one guest has to ask you to repeat yourself, you have a communication problem. slow down, do not talk when I am talking. if i begin to say something this is your cue to start listening as if you job depended on it. if you are not clear on it, ask what i mean. read back what you thought i said. enunciate, speak at a tone that adds a measure of efficiency in to the transaction, without sounding like software was used to remove all gaps between words! It seems like Courtyard Marriott wants to compete with hyatt. there is much more wood furniture in rooms and a very nice decor package, updated TVs, etc. with the HVAC system brand new and very quiet. for a room this nice i would expect a small refrigerator and possibly even a microwave. pillows and bed were great except we had to go rooting around for a decent blanket, there was no blanket on the bed other than that stupid little polyester postage stamp size foot warmer that could stand in for the cummerbund worn by the wizard of oz. that thing is totally useless, as it is made from a taffeta-Like fabric that has an affinity for slipping off the bed. towels were too small. this they have not upgraded! internet worked great and was not billed per device so no complaints there. the bandwidth was about 20mb down and 2up. not enough trash cans in the place. one, in fact, for the whole room including the bathroom. marriott! dudes, you need to give us a place to store trash or its going to end up all over the room! we did check out early but only because plans changed! nothing to do with the hotel. coffee was ....OK only, as in room usually is. regards!
