During our trip to Williamsburg, we decided to stay at this hotel, and we were very pleased with our choice! The rates were reasonable, and the location was convenient to several places we planned to visit. The hotel was clean and the bed was very comfortable, the parking lot was well-lit, and the swimming pool area was clean, free of debris, and well-maintained. We also enjoyed breakfast at the hotel. Our only complaint was that there were only two waffle makers, and they definitely could use a few more--especially on holiday weekends! The staff was very friendly, courteous, and welcoming throughout our stay. Overall, we had a great experience and would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for a clean, reasonably priced, and conveniently located hotel in the Williamsburg area. read more

Once again, I wish there were 1/2 stars. My wife, youngest son and I stayed at the Comfort Inn Williamsburg during a weekend in early October. We had a two queen bedroom which was very clean and comfortable. The mattress was very comfortable as were the pillows. We arrived around 1:00 PM on a Friday and they were able to give us a room on the first floor which was appreciated! Room/area is very quiet. Hotel is less than 10 minutes from the William and Mary campus and there are plenty of restaurants nearby. We only had breakfast one of the days which was pretty tasty. This is a really nice clean, comfortable hotel. I would definitely recommend the hotel and consider staying here for my next William and Mary visit. read more

First impression of the hotel was that it had been renovated recently. Location is great. Colonial Williamsburg, William & Mary, premium outlets and plenty of restaurants are all within a short drive. The room is quite standard with a refrigerator and microwave. But it is very clean which is extremely important to me. Hotel provides breakfast that includes a couple hot items and a waffle maker. I don't eat much but having breakfast is convenient. There were a couple minor issues that could use improvements. Bathroom is very new but there aren't any towel bars. The door is very close to the toilet which is a little annoying. The wifi was difficult to connect. I called the 800 number to resolve the spotty connection issues. Overall, I am very happy with the stay. read more

A very nice hotel with large guest rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. The room had a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, the fitness room is has several from to machines to choose a nice business center. The bathroom was tiny, but well appointed . They had a great hairdryer- a powerful hair dryer is important to those of us with longer, thicker hair. Nice thick towels and decent soaps and personal care items like makeup wipes make it more comfortable. The front desk staff was has helpful and friendly. The hardest worker was the lady who restocked the breakfast area. I breakfasted at 7am. They had bacon and eggs along with waffles and the typical fare. A man asked if they had the link sausages like they did in a prior day. This lady smiled and said "sure, " then complied with his request. My husband ate around 930 am and this lady was still hustling to clean, restock and keep the breakfast area clean and neat. She restocked as more folks came to breakfast. I've been staying at this hotel off and on for the last ten years. Our most recent trip is a perfect example of why I will continue to stay at this particular Comfort Inn every time I'm in Williamsburg. First off, we weren't the happiest of travelers. Our A/C had broken during one of the great Heat Waves of 2024, and due to health issues, we could not stay at home. We live close to a beach area, so all the hotels' prices were ridiculously high. We convened a family meeting, and decided our best bet was to go north, to Williamsburg for a week. The hotel itself isn't overly fancy. It's showing a little wear in the corners, like where the paint is chipping off the doors or the mirrors may be losing some of their decorative edging. But it's clean and still very pleasant to be in. There's a big TV, decent wifi, a microwave, and a mini fridge, so you can eat in the room or reheat your leftovers. There's a laundry room, which I used (everything worked well), a pool that we didn't use, vending machines and a breakfast which we slept past each day (our bad). But honestly? The real treasure here are the people. When we arrived, hot and tired, two housekeepers immediately approached us in the parking lot and helped to load all of our items onto a cart and take them upstairs. We had just left a different hotel where we'd paid more and nobody had assisted us at any time. Our party consisted of one very senior lady and another lady that's physically disabled, so the assistance was greatly appreciated. During our week, I did not come across a single employee who wasn't friendly and giving their all. Everyone went above and beyond. For example, my senior-aged mother needed a shower chair and asked one of the housekeepers. Five minutes later, she had one safely set up in our shower. The kindness of the employees was exceptional, and because of that, I would choose this hotel again in a heartbeat. No, it's not super fancy or slick. But you get a great rate, a clean and comfy room with all the typical amenities, and fantastic, kind-hearted people to be around. All in all, that's a win for me. read more

DO NOT RECOMMEND. The woman who checked my family in on Friday wanted to swipe my card THREE times. Told her get a manager, it was agreed that it was a mistake and did not need to swipe again. Check out on Sunday. Monday comes, I've been charged an extra $900. Not only that, my bank continued to block more transactions, showing the hotel made attempts to charge $400+ twice! What made it worse, I asked to speak to a manager and at first the manager wasn't in. Called later, the manager is "in a meeting". The representative answering the phone made a bunch of excuses. I want to clarify that this is NOT a hold, since the money is NOT in the account. They took the money before my bank finally blocked them. I'm told "the money will return by tomorrow". But nobody can explain why there is additional charge for $225.91; $275.92; and $451.82 after already being charged $501.92 x2 (for two rooms). What are these other charges that the woman could not even explain to me. If my total per room was $451.82 + $50 incidentals= $502.92/room, then why would I be charged another $451.82 plus the other two charges and why are they still attempting another $451.82? I would suggest anyone staying here to check their banks and report them for fraud. That's exactly what I am doing now. I also work at the bank so I know exactly how pending charges work. Never been to this Comfort Inn Gateway Williamsburg VA hotel. Minutes away from Richmond road. Beautifully outside appearance. Very updated lobby with a welcoming vibe. Staff is friendly. Even though outside signage AND signage located throughout the hotel hardly no staff are wearing masks. Samantha is the front desk agent at my check in counter visit. She informs me she is new. Although she is a new employee she quickly answered my questions since I never stayed at this hotel. There is a stairs in the lobby. I didn't ask nor I don't know where these steps leads you. All hotel guests are wearing masks in the public areas. I had a 2 queen bed room. The room is immaculate. The small refrigerator and microwave is located at the front door. Nice, modern and updated appliances and decor. Bathroom is nice size although the toilet to extremely close to the bathroom door. You have to close the bathroom door shut in order to maneuver to the shower. Plenty of white towels. This is the ONLY HOTEL (chain IHG, CHOICE) that has ACTUAL HOT breakfast. Due to COVID many hotels choose to NOT offer or offer grab & go pastries as a alternative. Amazing stay, friendly and attentive employees. The hotel room itself is very nice. It is spacious, and very clean. It already had five sets of towels, which was very nice. Laundry area is open 24 hours, thank you .....because when traveling sometimes you are out late. Perhaps though, I was spoiled by the way I was treated at a sister hotel near Washington, DC....but the staff here are proficient but really could care less about you. They are concerned with pressing their keys and going home. I also did not like the invasive questions as to why we are visiting. Asked at check-in with response logged. Nope. None ya business. Then, my card went bad and I found an extra card. She wiped the old ones and gave me two new ones. HOWEVER never asked for my ID so I could be Jack the Ripper getting this key Geez....a little security is good! Hotel room itself, nice, and very comfy. Staff....well you don't see them much anyway. The staff was awesome. Ms. Michelle (Night Shift Desk Manager) stepped in to help us out with reservation and billing issues at the sister hotel. Sister hotel near park had overbooked and moved us to the Comfort Inn. The first hotel staff were uncaring and didn't even provide directions. I had to ask for an address. Once at the Comfort Inn, I was met by Ms. Michelle. She listened and worked with her General Manager to address the issues. Day Shift Manager was very nice and he checked on us every time he saw us. For families- this is the perfect hotel. Very quiet and clean hotel away from the large groups on buses. They don't tolerate out of control guest. The Comfort Inn provided easy access to restaurants in one block (Cracker Barrel, Jose Tequilas Mexican Restaurant) and 10-15 min drive to shopping centers (Marshall's, etc). Thank you Ms. Michelle and Comfort Inn staff for making our 3 day stay so enjoyable after spending all day at the parks. As a single parent - we felt safe and welcomed. We will be back. read more

This is our 3rd time visiting Williamsburg, and so far, this is our best hotel stay. This place was really great! Very clean, great customer service, good hot breakfast, guest laundry ($1.50 each wash/ dry cycle and takes quarters - make change at the front desk), lovely outdoor pool. Our room had 2 queen beds, and the beds were very comfortable. They also give you 4 pillows per bed which was great. Our room also had a microwave and mini fridge. The bathroom was spacious also. My husband hurt his ankle so they gave us a room on the basement level that was very close to the back entrance next to the parking lot. This was great and made it so easy for him to come and go. The pool area has towels there so you don't have to bring your towels down from your room. The hotel's location is also ideal because it is only minutes away by car from all the Williamsburg attractions and Busch Gardens and Water Country, as well as many restaurants and the outlet shopping center. We paid $119/night that we booked through hotwire.com and after taxes and fees, it came out to $132/night but it was worth it. We would definitely stay here again. read more

I booked my original stay online before I realized I could stay 2 nights instead of just the one I booked. I called before arrival and, although the desk agent couldn't help me, she did tell me to ask at check-in as things change and maybe something would open up. She was correct. Upon arrival I asked and was pleasantly surprised to find I could add the second nights stay to my booking due to a cancellation. (It would not have been a problem for me if they couldn't have done something.) During the whole process the staff was amazingly friendly and courteous explaining all the things they were doing to make my stay the best it could be. While I didn't ask for it, I was given a room that was close to the elevator and a short walk to the entrance/exit door. This was a huge thing to me as my husband has mobility issues and I don't always think to ask for a handicap accessible room because he is able to walk short distances. I'm not even sure if it's just the room that was available to us or that the person at the desk noticed and assigned the room to us. The room was clean, cool and inviting. The bed was comfortable and so were the chairs in the small sitting area. The bathroom was a little small but that could be how it felt because the door was very close to the tub and toilet when open. Another plus was was the amount of plugs with easy access for charging phones and other electronic devices. Although we were told breakfast was available, we never actually ate at the hotel. The outdoor pool was nice though. The hotel even has towels you can use located on shelves in the hallway leading to the pool in case you don't bring one from your room. My only complaint here is that it took me a little bit to figure out how to open the gate to get into the pool area. Hint: you pull up on the knob at the top of the magnetic locking bar. Overall, I'd recommend this hotel based on its location, pricing and fantastic staff. read more

We frequently go to Williamsburg for short getaways but had never stayed at this hotel before. We loved it! Convenient location to our favorite spots such as Kilwins, CookOut, Busch Gardens, Colonial Williamsburg, and shopping. We were there for three nights and did not have any issues. The hotel was one of the cleanest that we have seen in a while. The lobby was welcoming and inviting. The beds and pillows were very comfortable. The air conditioning unit in the room was quiet but worked quite well. What made this hotel so wonderful though was the staff, especially the manager Naresh Naran. He was friendly, helpful, kind, pleasant, and every interaction that we had with him was enjoyable. He exemplifies customer service and the hospitality industry. We stayed one night at the Comfort Inn. Two things stand out in my mind which make this place pretty great, one big and one small. The big thing - I had a billing issue (I made a mistake when booking this hotel) and the manager rectified the situation quickly and with no hassles, which was a big relief. The small thing - the free breakfast closes at 10 am, but at 9:45 am, the staff brought out fresh donuts/pastries, refilled the waffle batter, etc., for the latecomers, instead of starting the break down process at that time like most other comparable places I've stayed. When we first came in I noticed bugs in the sink. I'm not prissy but if I wanted bugs I would have went camping. A wash rags appeared to have blood on it. The shower curtain has mold. I'm sure it's stained that way but still gross. Unfortunately I forgot shampoo and conditioner and they have a generic brand. The two rooms were in the basement level. Luckily we had a window or I would have refused. They have blinds and drapes but drapes are decorative only. You can't help to wonder if people can see in because window is level with sidewalks. We saved about 85.00 (between two rooms) here compare to other place we normally stay at( country inn and suites across the street from here) I will not worry about the savings next time and will not be returning here. Also the walls are paper thin and I believe the kitchen is above these rooms. The positive ... beds and pillows are clean and comfortable, WiFi, decent tv and blow dryer. Over all is clean except few things. They did offer to move room Bc bugs but kids were in room next to us so I washed them down drain. Lastly the towels are changed every three days unless you request more !!!! 3 days ! read more

We stayed two nights on the week before school starts. We had two rooms, my husband, I, my 5-year old and the 19-months old. My mother-in-law stayed in the next room, but since we are traveling together, we requested a connected room and it happened to be available. More spaces for the boys to run around. Overall, we enjoy our stayed there, the place is new, it's clean, the staff are very friendly, front desk and housekeepers. It doesn't have an on-site restaurant, but who cares, there are so many places to eat nearby. It is a very convenient location to the Busch Garden and the Water Park, less than a 10-minutes drive. The breakfast has the standard stuff, bacon, eggs, bagels, toasts, mini muffins, waffles, English muffins, yogurts, fruits, OJ, milk, etc. It has an outdoor pool, not huge but it's a good size. If we come to Williamsburg, we definitely will consider staying here again. read more

I would have rated this at 3 or 4 stars. The reason I did not was when I went to take a shower the next morning, there was a face towel, with brown residue on it that was in the corner of the tub(the side away from the shower head). I asked my wife if she had used the tub and she stated no. So the cleaning crew had not removed this. I promptly removed it and under it was a used bar of soap. I disposed of that as well and let me wife know that we will never be returning here again. If something as obvious as a used towel is not removed by the cleaning crew, it makes me wonder if the sheets are changed and the floors vacuumed when a guest leaves. The breakfast was a 3/10. There was a waffle station, with batter that was empty. Some sugary cereal, egg patties, sausage patties, english muffins(no toast) and some apples. I sat around for an hour watching tv and saw hordes of cows eating whatever they could get their hands on, but I noticed that the fruits and breads were not replenished by the staff. Sorry Comfort Inn, but there simply is no way to explain away the nasty towel. I also took photos which I will upload as soon as I figure out how. To the manager: saying you are sorry is not going to fix the issue. Make sure the people you hire are doing their jobs and spy in on them and the work they do from time-to-time.
