A very nice hotel with large guest rooms, comfortable beds and pillows. The room had a small refrigerator, coffeemaker, the fitness room is has several from to machines to choose a nice business center. The bathroom was tiny, but well appointed . They had a great hairdryer- a powerful hair dryer is important to those of us with longer, thicker hair. Nice thick towels and decent soaps and personal care items like makeup wipes make it more comfortable. The front desk staff was has helpful and friendly. The hardest worker was the lady who restocked the breakfast area. I breakfasted at 7am. They had bacon and eggs along with waffles and the typical fare. A man asked if they had the link sausages like they did in a prior day. This lady smiled and said "sure, " then complied with his request. My husband ate around 930 am and this lady was still hustling to clean, restock and keep the breakfast area clean and neat. She restocked as more folks came to breakfast. Kudos to the staff.

The husband booked this place since we were going to be in town a couple days visiting Busch Gardens. This is conveniently located close to the parks. We had a very comfortable stay...The area felt safe and the rooms were very clean. The breakfast area was beautifully decorated- clean (once again) and spacious. I have no complaints and would definitely stay here again.

Never been to this Comfort Inn Gateway Williamsburg VA hotel. Minutes away from Richmond road. Beautifully outside appearance. Very updated lobby with a welcoming vibe. Staff is friendly. Even though outside signage AND signage located throughout the hotel hardly no staff are wearing masks. Samantha is the front desk agent at my check in counter visit. She informs me she is new. Although she is a new employee she quickly answered my questions since I never stayed at this hotel. There is a stairs in the lobby. I didn't ask nor I don't know where these steps leads you. All hotel guests are wearing masks in the public areas. I had a 2 queen bed room. The room is immaculate. The small refrigerator and microwave is located at the front door. Nice, modern and updated appliances and decor. Bathroom is nice size although the toilet to extremely close to the bathroom door. You have to close the bathroom door shut in order to maneuver to the shower. Plenty of white towels. This is the ONLY HOTEL (chain IHG, CHOICE) that has ACTUAL HOT breakfast. Due to COVID many hotels choose to NOT offer or offer grab & go pastries as a alternative. Amazing stay, friendly and attentive employees. Choice ( COMFORT INN Gateway Williamsburg) this IS A 10 star rating. Minus -1 for employees not wearing masks. Please REGARDLESS of vaccination or not REQUIRE YOUR EMPLOYEES to wear masks.

We arrived around 6:30 PM to check in on a Friday and were promptly greeted. Desk attendant acknowledged my Platinum Status and was very friendly. We were given a room on the 1st floor. Room was a two queen bedroom suite with a sofa. Room was a fair size, one tv, bed was comfortable and everything appeared clean. Breakfast each morning was good. Eggs, hash browns, a meat or apples, waffles. A very good selection. Sunday there was a large group of students. Everything was pretty good. They have a game room present with an arcade. My youngest son spent almost an hour in here on 10.00. We used the pool which had a tepid temperature and the hot tub was so so. Location is outstanding. Short drive to Colonial Williamsburg or Busch Gardens. Plenty of restaurants and other businesses nearby. Only question is the color scheme, otherwise this is a perfect option in the area. I'd definitely consider staying here again.

We appreciated our stay but have experienced better at other Hilton facilities. This does not mean that the staff are not attentive, just a different experience for us this round. Swimming area was nice though a bit warm. Water temp was nice. Hot tub was not working very well, but they were aware and were trying to address it. They said "we thought you already checked out." I had not and felt extremely intruded upon. I gave it a second try last weekend - never again. This time there wasn't much the staff could have done. The hallways and main corridors were super warm. The room was renovated and was clean - mostly, however, the walls were super thin. One one side a family was blasting the movie Hamilton halfway into the night while on the other side a toddler was screaming for hours. The child did not sleep until after 1AM... so neither did we. I don't blame the other guests, however, structurally I would not stay here. The doors were also thin so I knew who was running down the hall and talking at all hours. I was lucky - our room, 403, was near the end of the hallway. I can't imagine what it would have been like in front of the elevator. At breakfast the person helping us kept standing there staring at us. Each time I went back up to the buffet, I felt their eyes on me. It was quite uncomfortable. Finally, worst of all, I did not feel safe in my room. The hitch that holds the door closed was loose and I didn't trust it to keep us safe. I reported all of these concerns at checkout. I was not even thanked for letting them know, muchless had anyone apologize for the experience. This one is a nope for me.

I think that part of the problem is that they have a number of long-stay residents, as I've learned from talking to fellow guests. Yes, I know that Residence Inn is generally targeted for longer hotel stays, but these are people staying months at a time for a temporary job. There is nothing inherently wrong with those types of guests, but it leads to a downgrade in level of service from that of a hotel to that of an apartment building. Also, as a pet-friendly hotel, the hotel has turned into a de facto unattended kennel during the day. While their owners are at work, or vacation travelers go to places where dogs are not welcome, the dogs are left alone in rooms all day, barking and whining...all day long. And once one starts, they all start. The constant din is really unbearable during the day. In the last year or so, signs have gone up around the hotel about Quiet Hours being from 10:00pm to 8:00am. The fact that the hotel management felt it necessary to put those signs up portends the type of behavior that you can expect from some of their current clientele. Garbage cans/piles sitting outside rooms will be there all day long. The walls in the hallways are all marked up. The internet was squirrelly and, according to the staff, it has been that way for over a month due to a power outage. On our most recent visit, we were in our room for less than an hour when the door pops open with another guest walking in that had been assigned the same room...assigned by the same person at the front desk that assigned us that room. When we queried the lady at the front desk about it later, she said that's been happening since the power outage a month or so ago. The lack of concern on the part of the lady at the front desk was alarming. It's really a shame. It is a great location, right on the strip. Many of the staff are friendly and trying to do their jobs, and the complimentary breakfast is pretty good. However, this hotel is not operating anywhere NEAR the Marriott level, and it is damaging the Marriott brand.

First of all, there was an instruction card that came with the reservation however while it did indicate that there is a backdoor, it did not inform that this was the 'main' entrance. There is very limited parking and if you want to park across at the church on or the street, you are at risk of towing. They have no passes for parking in these locations. The beds are their own issue. If you are vertically challenged, you will have great difficulty getting into the main beds. We stayed in a 'suite' (I use this term laughingly as it was just two connecting rooms) that had another room with twin beds. While the main bed seemed to have a mattress from the last century, the twin beds were ancient. The "pillows" that they give you are quite literally flatter than a pancake they would serve you for breakfast. The suite we stayed in was in the front of the house and there is no insulation to cancel ANY of the traffic noises from outside. It was very very stuffy inside and I wasn't able to open a window. We asked for a step stool and were given one that wasn't even as high as a normal step on a staircase. It was still very difficult to get in to the bed. At no time while I was there did I see, hear or meet the host/hostess of the B&B. The only time we met any employee was in the morning during breakfast. These ladies were AMAZING. They almost made up for the lack of any other service or greeting in their friendliness. The breakfast was late the day I was there. There are signs everywhere stating that it would be served at 8:30 but it was closer to 9:30. I'm an early riser so this was a bit of an inconvenience. At least the coffee was available. They had eggs, fresh fruit, yogurt, toast, cereal etc. It was set up as a buffet style in a very stylish area of the serving area. The dining room table is gorgeous but there are no placemats to put your plates on, I felt very worried about scratching this gorgeous table. The non guest rooms were fit with comfy areas to just relax and chill after a day of being a tourist. The furniture may not have been the most comfortable, but given how cozy each area was this was easily forgiven. I really enjoyed that each room had a Christmas tree already set up. This is not very handicapped friendly as no matter which way you enter, there are very old steps. The front steps were especially bad. To sum up; Parking; F Comfort; B Room Comfort: C+ Breakfast: A Location: A- Price: C (for our experience it was really really pricey)
