My recent stay at Courtyard Memphis Downtown was nothing short of excellent, and it easily exceeded my expectations in several areas. First and foremost, cleanliness stood out immediately. The entire property, from the lobby to the rooms was well-maintained and spotless. I don't do shower curtains at all, one my personal highlights of the room was the walk-in shower. That may seem like a small detail, but it made a big difference in terms of my comfort and convenience. Another pleasant surprise was the affordability. For a downtown location, especially in a city like Memphis, the pricing was more than reasonable. The staff deserves special recognition. Everyone I encountered was extremely accommodating, professional, and genuinely helpful. Whether it was answering questions or assisting with requests, they made the experience smooth and stress-free. Also, the hotel was impressively quiet. I had absolutely no issues with noise. I honestly had no issues during my stay at all, which speaks volumes. Everything ran efficiently, and the overall experience felt seamless. If I had one small critique, it would be the lack of dedicated on-site parking. However, the valet system more than made up for it. It was probably the best valet experience I've had...fast, organized, and hassle-free. Outside of The Peabody Memphis, this is the only place I'll stay when visiting downtown Memphis. Highly recommended for anyone looking for comfort, convenience, and quality service. read more

Here in Memphis downtown we found 4 Marriott's; a Moxie, Residence Inn, Courtyard & Springhill Suites. We selected this hotel because they had availability, a trolley stop outside the door and we were able to walk to most sites and many restaurants. We valeted our car with in & out privileges for $32 daily. We had issues with our room and finally got settled in room 701. The front desk staff was understanding and accommodating. The 2nd floor had a fitness center, rooftop with a hot tub & complimentary laundry facilities. There was a coffee bistro in a strange lobby with minimal furnishings. Auto Zone is headquartered in Memphis & many men were staying here with signature shirts & badges. read more

I have stayed here several times over ten years or so. I really love the hotel. The location is great for both accessing downtown and Beale Street, and you can quickly get onto any of the several major arteries that extend into parts east, including Rhodes College, Overton Park, and University of Memphis. The staff is accommodating and friendly, always up for small talk if you're so inclined. Drinks and food in the lobby bar are quite good and more reasonably priced than in a typical downtown hotel. In addition, there are plenty of bars and restaurants in walking distance. The scenic Mississippi River is just two blocks away. A couple of things you may want to know beforehand. First, the only parking is valet, and it's run by an independent company, PMC. You have to use their website to pay them directly. Do not pay the hotel, as you will pay twice. If you want to self-park, there is an independent parking garage nextdoor. Second, the bar may close earlier than the posted hours, so keep an eye out for that. read more

It was a wall thermostat, which was nice and quiet. It was a blessing not to have a clunky fan making noise all night. Fridge, ice bucket, hair dryer, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, iron board, extra comforter, safe, desk, tv, sofa with foot stool Bed and pillows were comfortable. Soft pillows, clean bedding, clean room Outside hot tub and pool on the 2nd floor, but we didn't use it Valet parking was good. Service was quick. Attendants were great, professional, and friendly. Just call the desk, and they'll have your car pulled out front. They charge your room each day for valet parking. You probably could park your own car if you're willing to walk to go and get it down at the public parking lot. Shower The shower door design is bad. The water basically runs down the door and onto the floor, making the bath mat soaking wet. Moved the shower head away from the door, and it helped a little bit not much. I got extra bath mats from housekeeping. They were very friendly and accommodating. The water pressure was ok, but the temp was low, given the hotel was full. I finally got a hot shower at 5 am. Sun morning, after many had checked out, or they were sleeping. Location It was a great location for the race. Close enough to walk to the start finish line and to the restaurants. I must say, this was the worst hotel experience that I have personally ever had (and I travel for a living). First of all, I booked through hotels.com and they refused to give me a room even though I showed them the receipt. They made me buy another room. (I'll even attach the receipt that I showed them to prove I'm being honest. When I said it feels discriminatory, the main lady working the counter "Miss Ang Sweat" told me "well, now you can understand how your ancestors treated my family for years." This is completely unprofessional and I have numerous people that were there to witness it (in fact, we are compiling their telling of the events now). When I called her out on being unprofessional, she told the other worker "refuse him service and stop talking to him". And when I asked for her name, she said its "Miss Have A Good Night". I was shocked at how awful she was and have sent an email to her manager James, but have not heard back. read more

Checked in for a one-night stay. Location can be found on the second block from the river, right along Main St and the trolley line. Small restaurant offering food and coffee, small store as expected. Parking is $25 for valet and $20 for self parking in the garage across the street. Staff was very friendly and accommodating. Received access to our room at 2:30 (30 mins prior to 3:00pm check-in). Found a nasty used soap dish in the sink, a used wet wash cloth in the shower, hair all over the bathroom floor and trash on the carpet. Such a turn off! read more

I had some food at the breakfast bar and it was enjoyable.They do serve Starbucks in the lobby so that's pretty convenient if you don't have time to grab coffee somewhere else tho there's another great shop just 1 minute walk away. The gym is pretty spacious and relatively well equipped so that's a big plus for me when I'm on business trips. The reason why it's not five stars is because I found an AC vent cover not entirely in its place when I entered my room.. so a weird let down but everything else has been satisfying. read more

We were on a return home trip to Texas from Massachusetts. We had a reservation here that was confirmed. We were on an all Marriot trip that began in Missouri and were using our new Marriot Bonvoy card. The reason that we selected Marriot is because they (In most locations) provide a breakfast. This was important to us and this location has photos of their food spread. Imagine our surprise when we came down and were told "The bistro is closed on Monday". We were charged the regular room rate that usually includes a breakfast but didn't get breakfast or a reduction in the room charge. This was very disappointing and will most likely affect our decisions on future road trips. The room was very nice and clean and the employees were polite but what the heck? read more

Very nice Courtyard right in the heart of Memphis, with a convenient tram stop right next to it. You can hop on the tram for easy access to Beale Street and all the 'cue - or just walk 10-15" leisurely along the stately avenue. The hotel was clean and quiet, with a courteous and friendly staff. The standard queen bedroom that I stayed in was comfortable and roomy enough. I liked the fitness room which offered a pair of treadmills, an elliptical, and a bicycle; there was also a separate weight room with dumbbells (up to 50 lbs), a cable weight machine, a pair of leg press machines and a pair of benches. Glad it wasn't all crammed into a tiny room! A nice convenient and well-priced place to stay. read more

Very conveniently located Marriott that is walking distance from Beale Street, Peabody Hotel, Several museums (including the civil rights museum). Parking is $18 if self-parked at an adjoining lot or $22 if wallet parked. We saw very energetic staff fulfilling the wallet duties. Overall, the staff was eager, courteous, and helpful. The gym was nice and kept well. They don't have a pool but do have a hot tub on the second floor. Request high floor overlooking the river Mississippi. Their rooms have nice balconies to sit outside and enjoy the downtown/river views. You can also walk to the park on riverside street and go for a jog or run. The bathrooms and the carpets did have that heavy use feel. The bathroom sink, particularly, had that really stale water misty odor. The sink definitely could use some deep-cleaning. read more

The room I checked in (around 9pm ish) had a bullet hole on the window and the front door didn't lock well. This freaked me out and felt very unsafe. My window was a facing a parking deck. So the view wasn't great either. Two staff came up to check the bullet hole and claim that nobody ever mentioned it. I'm not sure how people can miss it because I literally open the curtains and saw it right away. It was 2in hole. The front desk switch the room but it was only two floors up from the same side (where I can still see the cars on the parking deck). It's very inconvenient to switch the room at night. They didn't offer any discounts. read more

I've been to this property twice and have enjoyed each time! This is right in the heart of downtown Memphis and literally minutes away from the interstate which was a huge PLUS for me. Courtyard as a brand does not offer complimentary breakfast which is fine with me. They do however offer their Bistro which provides cooked to order breakfast and dinner. I actually picked this hotel on my most reason visit for the on site restaurant. I was exhausted from traveling and had more to do in the morning. I wanted to feel safe, warm, full, and comfy. That's exactly what I received. The property look modern and clean. It was actually very lively in the lobby/Bistro area for a Monday night. I liked it! Attentive and accommodating staff. I ordered the crispy brussels and the cobb salad and enjoyed both. Very filling. This was exactly what I needed. The bed was comfy and I cozied up watching a huge screen TV. 50 inch maybe? Overall great stay while in Memphis. I will be back! read more

Really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is centrally located where We could walk to most places including Bealle Street. The hotel was very nice. No complimentary coffee or breakfast, but the Bistro in the lobby had Starbucks and served Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner. They also had a cool little bar. I spoke with Lois today who is the manager of this location. I had to tell her how much that I enjoyed her staff. Latisha. Andrew, Tanako, Michael, Rico and not to Mention the three people that worked either in the kitchen or at the bistro area. Everyone seemed to enjoy their jobs and were very pleasant. Leticia and Andrew gave us some great recommendations on how to get places. This location is minutes away from the trolley, bass pro shop and walking distance to Beale Street. Needless to say we were happy with the location we picked and just 2 1/2 blocks away is the restaurant called Flight, Eden is a Mixologist there and was fun and delightful, please tell her that Colorado says hi. A great wine list and the food was incredible. I WOULD recommend this hotel because of its location as many other things. read more

Stayed at this Courtyard and enjoyed its proximity to downtown. Rooms were newly renovated and clean. Very comfortable and spacious room. However, I found the staff to be less up to par than the Marriott brands usual. Also, the owner of the hotel seems to think he can park in a handicap with no placard because as his staff told me, "it's private property". Completely against the law and unacceptable behavior for the Marriott brand. read more

We stayed here for our anniversary and overall I was impressed. The room is roomy and the bathroom is nice. Huge walk in showers...big enough to share. Preserve water, shower together right :-) Perfect location. We were in walking distance to Beale St (even though we opted for an Uber lol). We were minutes away from the restaurants down Main st. There were only a few issues. We arrived around 10 pm and the front staff attendant couldn't find our reservation, but was able to re-book us and get us all checked in. Then the following day, after an evening and day (brunch) of drinking, we came in to take a nap and were disturbed! Apparently there is a housekeeping closet right by our room on the 5th floor and the workers kept going in and out (doing there job), but it was so inconvenient to us taking our nap lol. Next time I would ask not to be in that particular room. The work out room was nice as well as the jacuzzi area. I would love to come back when it isn't 100 degrees outside and enjoy the jacuzzi. The housekeeping staff and valet were accommodating and provided great customer service. read more

So disappointed. I specifically called days in advance to ensure there were upper floor corner balcony rooms available. It's my husband's birthday, it's his first time in Memphis, and I wanted it to be special. The person I spoke with said the room was available, to specify my request in my online room reservation, and that he would take care of it. I arrived tonight and the only room they have is on the third floor with no balcony. I understand it's a busy weekend. That is why I called ahead. Memphis has a lot of great hotels and I would not have stayed here if I had known this is the room I would be in. Any other time, I would ask for a refund and move to a different hotel but, since it's a busy weekend, we're stuck here. To add to the frustration, the elevator in the parking garage is broken and the ice machines don't work. The gentleman at the front desk was super nice and did the best he could with a crappy situation. read more

3.5 Memphis, your hotels are not cheap. Between Nashville and Memphis, visitors to the Volunteer State might need to start packing tents! I was visiting Memphis for work and this hotel was the best blend of location, price and comfort. Don't be put off by the 3.5: this is a perfectly fine place to lay your head for a couple of nights. With a few changes, I would wholeheartedly come here without reservation. Pluses: the staff with whom I interacted were all Grade A. From the valet to the desk staff to the cleaning staff, everyone was friendly, approachable and engaged in making my stay as pleasurable as possible. It sounds like such should be second nature for hotels but when you travel enough, you begin to see that this isn't the norm and should be called out for commendation. My room (601) is one that I'd ask for. It was huge. It was a corner room that wrapped around the side of the building and had a terrace! Despite the weather (it could have been warmer), I, gladly, walked outside, sat on the chair and looked out and below at the life on the trolley line. Beale Street is only a quick walk away and there are plenty of sights to take in close to the doorstep. I enjoyed the view greatly. My king bed was comfortable but it did come with those small pillows people speak of in other reviews. Luckily for me, I don't have a big head so it didn't bother me that much. The bathroom is a good size but not very modern. I'd say it's comfortably mid-90s in amenities and appearance. Nothing offensive but you might be left wanting more. I felt the same way about the carpet. I try not to think about *some* things while in hotel rooms. The carpet is one of those things. Again, the appearance suggested a time gone by and, for me, that suggests things living in it. That might not be fair but it's a trigger. I'd imagine it's a trigger for others as well. Back to the positives, the work desk was quite generous in size and the cherry wood helped make me feel productive. After a workout one morning, I wasn't left with much time to hunt for lunch and was left going to a cooler of sorts to pick up a sandwich rather than getting something from the on-site restaurant. Not a huge thing, but nothing that helps earns a full four stars. This Courtyard has a lot of good things going for it and given the location and cost, it probably is one of the better bets in the area. There's some room for improvement but I don't think you'd dislike your stay. read more

This hotel caters to the male travelers. How do I know this? Simple. The hair dryers. This bathrooms in this new and otherwise well appointed hotel have the most horrible, outdated, weak hair dryers that took a good 25 minutes to blow dry my hair. As any woman would tell you, this is not cool. Other than that, the room was, for the most part, comfortable and large, with reasonably fast free internet. The only other downside to the space was the pillow situation (see picture). For a king sized bed, they provided only four teensy tiny square pillows - I've never seen anything like it. Hotel staff were friendly, meeting spaces were serviced promptly, and food served on site was reasonably good. The location was convenient for most of the downtown area, and almost anything in the tourist-y area was a safe and quick walk away. The valet parking was well staffed, and we never had to wait long for our car. I wouldn't object to staying again, but I'd bring my own hair dryer. read more

If I could give this hotel zero starts I would. We had to do a last minute trip to Memphis, and in typical Memphis fashion the good Marriott affiliated hotels were booked (looking at you, Westin). When we pulled up after 14 hours of driving with a baby and a preschooler the woman at the front desk claimed they don't have pack n plays or cribs. My husband comes back out and opens the door to blow cold rainy wind on me to inform me of this (that's not really relevant but I'm still annoyed by it lol). I was trying to insist that wasn't true because, first of all, the website said they had them. What are you talking about lady!? Second of all, is it even legal for hotels to have no where safe for a baby to sleep? What if the baby falls out of the bed?? We cancel the reservation and my husband goes back in to let them know. All of the sudden on the way back in she said they do have them. Too late lady we already cancelled the reservation and booked someplace else. I'm not sure what she was trying to achieve but surely she knew that all along. read more

Stayed in Memphis for five weeks on a project as a guest of the Courtyard. It's relatively new and not in a terrible location, right on Main St and pretty easy walking distance to Beale St. and downtown restaurants. The negatives- the breakfast food is terrible, the crew is disorganized and they are frequently out of things. The walls are thin, and do NOT stay on the 8th (top) floor- the elevator mechanism is on the roof and the soundproofing sucks. Lastly, every room they gave me had something wrong with it- one, the curtains wouldn't close. Another- the shower door wouldn't close and showers would flood the bathroom, etc..... Then again, not sure what your other options would be in downtown Memphis unless you want to shell out the big $s for the Peabody..... read more

Immediate problems with our room. For the price it wasn't worth the problems! We travel frequently and were in town for wedding, with plenty of our party staying here. -hair found right away on the toilet seat: gross. -trying to use the outlets and finding them to be faulty and shorted out by the bed: not trying to die in a fire. -the exposed wires falling out of the phone jack by the bed, also: not trying to die in a fire or get electrocuted. -fridge did not get cold the entire time, maxed out on the setting. -shower seal was false and leaky. End of rant, but I expect more from a Marriott. Also, valet was incompetent and stained the drivers side carpet and refused to admit any knowledge of it. read more

I was very excited to stay in Downtown Memphis during my drive to Texas from Philly; unfortunately this hotel was horrible. I checked in and was given a room on the 3rd floor. The 2 ladies at the front desk were not welcoming nor were they friendly. After walking into my room, I realized that a hand towel was used and on the sink. Additionally, the bar of soap was open and used....wtf!! I went downstairs and requested a new room from a different lady. She was very helpful and understood my frustration. She moved me to the 4th floor; all was ok with that room except 2 lamps didn't work and the toilet made noises. Unfortunately the hotel, in general, was not in good shape. Was expecting so much more, especially being near the "famous" Beale street...never again. read more

The hotel is the first one in Memphis to be built with Marriott's "refreshing business" concept. The spacious lobby has a full-service bistro that serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, plenty of space for sitting and working, and private booths with TVs that are equipped with laptop and iPod ports. The Courtyard also has a large workout room, guest laundry machines and a completely genius computer where guests can print their boarding passes for flights. There's also plenty of meeting space. There are two boardrooms, a large conference hall that holds 120, and a media room that's perfect for meetings (or movie screenings). The Courtyard has 131 guest rooms, all decorated with luxe furniture and muted colors. Some of the rooms have balconies, and all have ports to hook laptops, iPods and more to the TVs. Since Courtyard was designed with business travelers in mind, it's also got free wireless internet. The Courtyard is located directly across from Court Square in the center of downtown. It's about a 15 minute walk (or short trolley ride) to Beale Street, and a five minute walk to the Cook Convention Center. read more

The hotel is clean, nicely laid out, and very reasonably priced. On March18-20 I hosted a birthday celebration in Memphis and needed 14 rooms for guests. The hotel provided first class accommodations. It is next to the trolley and 25 paces from a trolley stop, very convenient for going to Beale Street entertainment district. I would definitely stay here again. read more

So now that I'm checked out I can give my full opinion. The staff were very polite and pleasant at all times. The room was average it had a fridge but no microwave which really became a pain, if I want something chilled then common sense will tell you I'd like it heated up too. I was told the only microwave was downstairs by the check in. Unacceptable... at least put one on each floor by the ice machine. And they don't offer free coffee, I should have just stayed at the springhill suites next door. read more

We traveled to Memphis to attend Memphis in May BBQ contest. Although the front desk staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, we were disappointed with the final outcome of the stay (checked out of room 819 on May 18th). In our rush to leave, we left a necklace on the bathroom counter, and a jacket in the closet. After an hour or so after checking out, we noticed we had left the items and immediately called the hotel. My husband spoke to Leticia who worked at the front desk. She took his phone number and stated she would check and call us back. We never received a phone call! We called back the following day and spoke to Leticia again. My husband told him who he was and that we had called the previous day about the items left behind. She put him on hold and then came back and said nothing was found! My husband said "how can that be as we reported this quickly." Either the housekeeper kept it or the housekeeper did not thoroughly clean the room and missed a jacket and necklace (highly unlikely). We are Elite members and have stayed at Marriott properties over 45 days this year alone. I would not recommend that you stay here because you can't trust that if you leave something, it will be returned! Again, very disappointing! read more

This is a bad place to stay! The rooms are fine, but from the attitude at the valet stand, and then to charge me $20 for your attitude, no thank you. Next, no coffee in the lobby- every courtyard I've ever started in has free coffee, in the lobby, in the mornings...but not here! I was told"This is Memphis". Really, well this is a really good customer, platinum and gold level for as long as I can remember, telling you that it's coffee. Rooms are ok, but this isn't a 5 star Ritz or Four Seasons. The front desk people seemed nice and do their job well, but this hotel gives the impression they're too busy. Seriously, isn't that the job- serving customers? What irritates me most is I burned to certificates to stay here- because of its category- don't waste your time, it isn't that great. Pay more and stay at the Peabody, where at least you're treated with respect- which is also where you'll find me and my money next time I'm in town. And Aisha in valet should be fired for speaking to customers that way. read more

This is the second Courtyard we have stayed at in two months. The last one was in denver - and it was not good. This Courtyard is modern, clean and very friendly. Valet parking is a must at this hotel. Please tip the valet. The cars are not on site and they have a little run to get your car. Our only issue is the bed. This was also a issue in denver. To simplify - the mattress in room xxx sags in the center. Unless you like this, you need to sleep on the edge - otherwise you will slip into the center. This is not a mom and pop motel off old HWY ABC. This is a Marriott. Honestly this is the same issue we had in Denver. We will continue staying at Marriott - but it's going to be a long long time before I stay at another Courtyard. read more

This is rated as a three star hotel but it's in better shape and more convenient and cleaner than the four star properties I've stayed at in Memphis. Better than its $200 price would suggest. Blows doors on Doubletree room I stayed in a few weeks ago scant blocks away. Rooms clean and recently decorated. Downstairs public areas have food and coffee options missing from competitors. I also like the way this and three other hotels share an enclosed motor court off the public street. We rolled in at midnight and when we got out of the car we were on semi enclosed. hotel property so didn't worry about getting stabbed. I have an aversion to undeserved stabbings. Also valet is only 18 per night and the garage is nicer than the ones down by Beale St. So yeah read more

We stayed here with several family members for a weekend wedding. The location is awesome, right on Courthouse Square with an easy walk to the river and to Beale St. The room was large and comfortable, the closet held both of our stuff, and the bathroom was fine, the shower powerful. Our only issues were with service. The front desk did fine, but they did not keep the self-service store very well stocked, and the service at the Bistro was abysmal. They had one cook and one counter person on duty no matter how busy it got, and the counter person was often overwhelmed. This made for long waits. Once we even gave up and went somewhere else for breakfast. The prices at the Bistro were also astronomical. The maid staff did not show up on our first day until nearly 5PM. (We had been gone touring in the city for most of the day, so there had been ample time to do our room.) At that point we were getting ready for the wedding, so we had to refuse maid service and sign off that we had done so. The furnishings and rug were showing their age. There was a light stain in the middle of the floor between the TV and the bed. All in all, an okay experience, but for $159 a night I would expect more. read more

Saw that this Courtyard opened up in late 2009, so we wanted to try it out...will NOT be going back to the regular Marriott. This Courtyard is AMAZING and reasonable. Do valet...it's only $3 more and you don't have to walk a block to get to your car. There is a quasi-Starbucks in their lobby, along with a limited selection of foods, but it's perfect for a business traveler or someone who is just staying the night. I stay at the Courtyard Marriott downtown Memphis for business. Now, I will say that the bedding in this hotel is great and the balcony rooms have a great view, and that I've had better experience in the past. That being said, I've always ran into at least one issue each time I've stayed. This particular stay, I had multiple. I couldn't change the TV channels using the numbers on the remote and the TV did not display channel information. So, no way to go to a particular channel and then I wouldn't even have a way to know what channel I'm on. This is frustrating when you are coming back from working long hours and trying to relax. I called down and 2 different folks came up to see what was going on. They brought replacement remotes but to their surprise, they didn't know the not being able to use the buttons thing was even an issue. "You would think that with these flat screens that you should be able to change the channel, you know?" The toilet would randomly leak water every 15 minutes or so (flushes on its own). One of the guys that came up for the remote, replaced the seal for the flusher (excuse my layman's terms). However, instead of flushing on its own every 15 minutes, it turned into every 30 minutes. Awesome. Last thing for this trip, the shower door, when opened and close, makes a CRAZY loud squeal sound. It probably just needs some oil on the hinges. You would think that Housekeeping would have been annoyed enough by the sound when they are cleaning that they would have fixed it... This was all in room 624, which I would avoid if you plan to stay here. read more
