This is easily the worst Courtyard experience that I've ever had. The expression "dire straits" comes to mind when thinking about the dreadful room that I had to endure. Normally this is the road stop hotel that I choose because it's solid. Nothing fancy, but always safe and clean. The beds are always comfortable and have good crisp linens. We were on a road trip and decided to stop in Montgomery around 5 am. The reception ladies were so nice and the only reason I wouldn't rate this excuse for a Marriott one star. As soon as I walked into the room, I wanted to walk out, but it was 5 am and I had already returned to the front desk which was a long walk from the room because my key wasn't working. The stench of mildew was palpable. Stains all over the couch (I did not so much as brush my leg against it the entire 6 hours I was there) and it was clear that the door had been PRIED open at some point by someone desperately trying to get in for some godforsaken reason. The hallways reeked of someone smoking marijuana. Is smoking even allowed in hotels anymore? To add insult to injury the price of this hotel with taxes was 170 dollars. Leaving this review so that someone doesn't make the same mistake we did. Drive a few more miles and find another Courtyard in another town! read more

I ended up here and I was not happy from the beginning. Old, dated rooms, and a baby spider crawled out from behind the headboard. The pool, even though it is probably not in season in March, was atrocious and filled with algae. Prostituti*n, dr*g addicts were walking by and around the parking lot as soon we arrived. When I book with Marriot I expect a certain quality. This did not meet expectations and really should not be a Marriott It is so rundown I checked for bedbugs. Non of the drawers in the dresser work properly. The sleeper couch cushions were filthy. The front desk twice told me they had no extra pillows. What they really meant is there wasn't any at the front desk but neither person offered me that information. Finally someone coming onto the shift interrupted and said they would have housekeeping bring us pillows and a blankets for the sleeper after we had one night without. What the hell? read more

This was the worst experience with a hotel with a courtyard ever. I drive a tour bus for a country singer and stay in courtyards every single day. Not only was the indoor area gross, it stunk. The staff at the front desk could've cared less about us checking in. At 3 pm we still could not check in. We were told they were booked out the night before. They didn't have rooms ready yet. There were only 7 cars in the parking lot, I counted. They said it would be 30 mins more. Every person that tried to check in afterwards was told the same exact thing. We left at 330 after finding another room at another Marriott. When we told them we were cancelling we were the second ones in line to do it. We started a firestorm when we said we were wanting a refund for our 3 rooms. They said they couldn't do that, we had to cancel within 24 hours of the booking. The other people in the lobby also were in the process of leaving when we did and were arguing about a refund. ***Worst Experience Ever! Do not stay here.!!! read more

The property is run down and in desperate need of repairs. The first room I was in was on the first floor. The sliding door was shattered and there were shards of glass in the doorframe and the room. The room was also missing several pieces of lamps. Apparently guests just take them on the way out. When I told the front desk about the condition of the room, they moved me across the hall. This room was also missing several pieces of furniture, including the mini fridge. The shower had zero water pressure, making showering near impossible. On the positive side, the staff were great. Do not stay here. You will pay Marriott prices for a Super 8 experience. Hotel is very rundown. Hallway carpets are stained and threadbare. There was someone's half empty water bottle in our room when we checked in. Tile falling off the wall in bathroom, elastic in the sheets was shot so old mattress was exposed (yuk), A/C smelled musty, the toilet was wobbly, many old water stains on the ceiling that were barely repaired. Front desk staff is poorly trained. We asked for extra pillows--they said they didn't have any. The hotel was nowhere near full--they couldn't go into an unoccupied room and get a couple pillows for us? I will preface that all the staff I encountered was very nice and willing to fix whatever I asked, but there's only so much you can polish a turd. This place is very dated and needs a complete renovation. If you've ever stayed at a Marriott, this motel will disappoint you. The rooms are dark and damp. The walls are thin, I could hear my neighbors snoring and smelled smoke even though it's a smoke-free hotel. There were days when they couldn't refresh my linen because they just didn't have any towels or pillowcases-a first for me in a hotel. Musty-smelling hotel room on a crime-ridden road. While traveling for business, I was recommended this Courtyard to be an affordable and convenient option. As soon as I told some locals and Uber drivers where I was headed, they would ask me in very concerned manner, "you're staying off Carmichael!?" I came to find out that the road is ridden with crime. Conduct a simple Google search and you'll see arrests made on Carmichael Road in various cases of suspects accused of kidnappings, burglaries, drug deals, murders, etc. As a woman traveling alone to a different city, all of this was very unsettling and made me feel extraordinarily uncomfortable. The lobby is deceiving because it's renovated, but things need to be updated including the bathroom and the pool. With all this said, the two attendants who checked me in and out were professional and nice, hence why I'm giving the hotel two stars. I won't ever stay here again as feeling safe is my no. 1 priority while staying in a hotel. read more

Wow, I don't really have the energy to adequately and fully describe my stay here. In short, my room was nice. Overall, the hotel is also descent but definitely needs some upkeep. Some staff workers definitely made you feel like you were bothering them any time you had a question. Room cleaning was every third day. I was in the area working a graveyard shift and asked if there was a way to get my room cleaned during the evening hours...nope. When I checked out, I realized a few hours later that I left my cell phone and tablet on the desk. I called and was told a message will be passed to the housekeeping supervisor. I returned early evening the same day and housekeeping said they didn't find anything. The night manager took me to to their laundry facility and helped me search the linen bins. During the day, I called my phone...ring, ring, ring...then the voice message. Tried calling when we were in the laundry room...now straight to the voice message. That means the phone had now been turn off! This place has the potential to get consistent four star plus ratings. But until the staff is better trained on how the hotel industry works and how to support guests needs, it'll get poor ratings. There were a couple helpful workers, but they can't and shouldn't have to carry the load for the others. read more

This is an older hotel. The carpet is close to needing to be replaced and the walls in the halls are a dark color, but it seems to be up to Marriott standards. It is clean, in good repair, and the staff is friendly and helpful. We often avoid Courtyards because they don't have free breakfasts, but since COVID, the free breakfasts in hotels have been going downhill. I'd just as soon stop at McDonald's. Tonight, we are glad we have the hotel bistro. It's pricey, but we got in late and don't want to have to leave the hotel. We just ordered wings and quesadillas. The hotel lobby is presentable and misleading. Once I got to my room it was a struggle to open the door. Upon entry, I can tell there was no attention to detail by whoever "cleaned" that room. There was a used mask on the couch, stains on the table stand and even the remote was greasy (yuck)! The bathroom was average and also didn't seem properly cleaned. I stayed here for 12 days on business. As soon as I waked in, I tried to go somewhere else. Unfortunately, there was a lot going on in Montgomery while I was there and everything else was booked. Yep, first impressions mean a lot. They weren't good here. It took quite a while to check in. There were some complaints before me, which took time to resolve. The receptionist didn't seem like she could do much. The property overall is old and dingy. The hallways are dark. The curtains in the hallways are old and worn. I was hesitant to use the laundry room because I felt dirty just walking in there. The gym equipment is about to fall apart. Customer service is poor. I leave good tips to housekeeping normally. At least bring me some coffee!! Several days I had to go to the front desk to get refills packs. Not good. The front desk staff was ok, depending on when you went. Evening and afternoon were good. Morning, not so good. I had an early flight out of Montgomery and had to leave at 4am. I couldn't check out the night before (apparently a system limitation), so I checked out before going to the airport. The attendant claimed he couldn't print a receipt. After I pushed back a little, he clearly could print a receipt. This is NOT what I would expect from a Marriott Courtyard. Do yourself a favor and try to stay somewhere else. read more

Stayed here in August 2018 against my better judgement which I regret now because it was a horrible experience. The rate per night for a second rate hotel was very high so I began walking away from the front desk to go stay at a Hilton property with a much better rate but much further away from my function. The Mgr told me they'd match Hilton's rate but it would be an hour before a room was ready, well two hours later I was told my room was ready. Well when I open the door to room #1 ( pictures below ) I noticed that the room was not clean. It looked as if it hadn't been touched since the last guest left. I went back to the front desk and told them about the room, they followed me down there as if they didn't believe me and once the saw the room the apologized and told me they'd get me another room. But when I got to room #2 I walked inside and discovered that the room was already occupied ( glad I wasn't shot ) because of the hotels mistake. Again I went to the front desk and they realized their mistake ( again ) and they decided to get me a third room ( room #3 ) and personally walk me down there to make sure everything was ok, which appeared to be. So I decided to stay and I moved my things in. I woke up the next morning itching and that's when I noted several bite marks on my legs ( pictured ) and I called down to complain. A few moments later a manger and house keeping supervisor arrived at my room and began inspecting my bed. A few moments later they huddled up and then made a determination to remove all of the linens and I mean all of them including the bed cover. I was told that I'd be compensated for for the two I was booked and that I would be refunded all of my expenses. But as of today March 2019 I have only been credited for one night not two. I have called several times, asked to send the pictures I took and begged not to share them. Well I still don't have any answers or credits so I'm posting my displeasure. It's my fault I should have went to Hilton, they usually don't make these kinds of mistakes but if they do they fix it. read more

Eck, this hotel is terrible. When I went to check in, after waiting in line for 15 mins, my room key didn't work. Had to go all the way back down to the lobby and wait in line again to get a key that worked. Then later that night, I was locked out of my room again. Same thing, had to go down to the lobby and wait in line for about 15 mins to get the key fixed. The ladies at the front desk were super nice and helpful, but the hotel is understaffed. On my way back to my room, a drunk guy TOTALLY WASTED literally could not walk. He was stumbling down the hallway and almost fell into me. He got in the elevator, I skipped that round because I was not comfortable being in an elevator with him. A second layer I heard all this crashing noise in the elevator, it was the drunk guy. Called the front desk to alert them about the situation, they never picked up. Ugh. Never staying here again . read more

Checked into the hotel and got into my (initial) room without any issues. I freshened up and went to dinner. When I returned, I wanted some fresh air. When I went to open my sliding glass door, it wasn't locked. Not only was the door lock broken, there wasn't even a security bar. (The housekeeping supervisor should have noticed this, but I digress.) As a female traveler, this was quite disconcerting. I called the Front Desk, explained the situation, and they changed my room, but there was no assistance available to help me with my room change. Needless to say, I had to repack all my items as I had done so when I originally checked in. When I got into my second room, I immediately checked the lock and security bar on the sliding glass door. All was in order, so I felt it "safe" to unpack. I went into the bedroom area to call a friend and when I returned to the vanity to get ready for bed, there were ants all over the vanity and climbing on my cosmetic bags. I checked availability at another Marriott and reserved a room. I repacked (again) and checked out. I told the Front Desk clerk that I was not paying for either room that night and that I was cancelling my reservation for the following night. I received a folio with a "zero" balance. When I checked my credit card the next day, there was a charge for 2 nights at this "hotel" (shocking) . When I was able to call later that day, I asked for the GM. I was told he had left for the day. (It was 3:45pm- what GM leaves at that time?) I asked for the MOD and Evelyn, the person that answered the phone, didn't even know what the acronym stood for. This is a MARRIOTT employee. Most everyone (excluding Evelyn) in the hotel business knows what MOD stands for (Manager on Duty). She told me she was the MOD. I explained my situation and told her I wanted the charges reversed. She placed me on a terminal "hold" and eventually I hung up. Naturally she didn't answer my subsequent return calls. I spoke with my credit card company and they will be reversing the charges. This is a CLASSIC example of the INMATES RUNNING THE ASYLUM! DO NOT stay here! Pay the extra money and go to the Fairfield at East Chase. What a nightmare to sweet dreams difference! read more

We are traveling for a wedding we booked two rooms Upon checking in the front desk host was ok. Completed check in go to the 1st room it was desent but still needed work. 2nd room had a horrible smell. Went and got the room changed twice because the next room had the same smell. We thought we were gonna have a decent pool to go into and the pool has green bottom. After being here for 2 nights the pool now looks like slime. Go to the front desk and ask about the pool the lady apologized about the pool. The host stated they wouldn't put there grandmother in that pool.I then asked about breakfast that was suppose to be included and i was told by one of the staff that breakfast was not included . She chuckled and said we dont give free breakfast no matter what u already paid for they not going to give u free breakfast. The over all experience was a 2 outta 10 for me . Friendly customer service, excellent room, comfortable courtyard area for leisure, as well as a decent-sized fitness center. This Courtyard experience turned out to be a good overnight while traveling from New Orleans during a heavy winter rain storm. Although this hotel is clearly older, you can tell that it has been renovated over the last 2-3 years. The dark green color of the hallway carpet, combined with the lighting, allow the hallways on all three floors to appear to be darker than it should. Yet despite that, the rooms (at least mine did, anyway) appear to have the feeling of it being updated to 21st century hotel standards that also include a reasonable upload & download internet speed. As always, any Courtyard by Marriott does not include breakfast within your rate. You'll have to purchase it on your own at either the restaurant, or the Burger King next door for those that are in a hurry. While I missed the breakfast selections that the restaurant offers during limited morning hours (closes at 9:30 AM), I was a little disappointed that this Courtyard location didn't have the Starbucks Bistro that is advertised on the room key cards. I was told that Starbucks is set to arrive in due time. There is a slightly large pool on the premises, yet it is outside and locked during the winter months to ensure that no Clark Griswold-Christie Brinkley shenanigans happen on this property. The fitness center is pretty decent, considering that it has two treadmills, an exercise bike, elliptical machine, and free weights to get your day started. Other than having a balcony view of a slightly dumpy neighborhood development on Carmichael road, I had a good experience at this location amid a dark & stormy night of wintery Montgomery weather. read more

So boom! It's New Years and I need a hotel away from the house to relax with my woman! I check into the Courtyard Marriott like.... It's the Marriott! I check in smooth, grab my keys and go up to the room. My first thoughts is, I need ice to enjoy some drinks in the nice room. Tv's a lil obsolete but it's cool. Hook up my ps4 because we play zombies every night, that's just what it is. Anyway, the HDMI 2 never connected, I tried putting it in place of the cable tv but I couldn't control the volume from it. Not even from the Tv. That shit was lame fr! But it's cool. My girl about to scoop some ice to mix the drinks andddd i hear "ayy what's this black stuff in the ice"? I come over and was like nahhh we can't have that. Not tonight... I go back to the ice machine to get more ice and notice the MOLD all around the ice handle you have to press down to get ice. That mold looked like it was moving!! But yeah, this is the end of my review. Why? Yaaasssss! The Marriott Gods have heard our cries... This location is finally renovated! This Courtyard was long..long overdue for a make over. Luckily for me, I was able to enjoy this new & improved location. The Courtyard is a great hotel. Usually inexpensive & decent amenities. I'm a Marriott girl so I'm always searching to stay with the brand. Normally when I'm visiting Montgomery I'm forced to stay at the Renaissance downtown (which is an amazing hotel btw) but sometimes it doesn't agree with my budget. Unfortunately due to the horrible reviews at Courtyard & the outdated rooms.... I had no choice. Not anymore! This location is finally up to speed with beautiful modern decor just like a Courtyard should be.... Bistro that serves Starbucks & offers a decent "hotel" selection of beer, wine, & food! The rooms were up to par as well. Clean, comfy, & modern. Super happy to know I can visit Montgomery and not have to spend a fortune staying downtown each time I'm here. This use to be my favorite hotel to have breakfast in college and now it's totally gone down. The menu and the lodging has changed. The upgrades on the rooms which were much needed are present but the bathrooms were left unfinished. A new shower curtain and rod to update design. Service is now raggedy and unbothered. No team work to resolve issues. Blames others for business not having enough manpower. The lack to multi task is present and disgruntle attitude towards task are also present. The Bistro is not gourmet for the purpose price and accessibility for some reason I can see this being a lucrative business and marketable product but again the ball was dropped. I would have liked to give it more but the hallways have done this place an injustice. We had to go up and meet a client to handle some paperwork. Out client was nice enough to reserve our room and let us know that when we arrived that our room key would be available at the front desk. Upon our arrival, it was late due to a busy day beforehand like around 11ish, I went into the lobby, there was no one at the counter so I said "Hello" loud. After a moment I moved closer to the counter, thinking maybe the person hadn't heard me, and said "Hello" again. Upon still not receiving a response I went to the counter and started tapping it and saying"Hello". It got the attention of the lady for the counter, who was on her phone around the corner as she had to say to whomever she was speaking with "I think someone is here let me check". When she got to the counter and I explained who my husband and I were she said "OH, I have been waiting on you". She gave me our keys and room number and told us the easiest place to park due to my husband being in a wheelchair. Where she told us to park was perfect and when I got my husband to the door to go in that is when we noticed the carpeting in the hallway. Our room was great, a little cold cause the air was set at 58° but nothing that turning it up couldn't solve. After getting settled in the room I realized that I forgot my ponytail holder so I went to the counter to see if maybe sundries had some, they did not, but they had some old-time shaped Pepsi bottles that I bought for $2. Looked for a spot to handle the paperwork with my client and saw the business center was perfect. The bed was comfortable and we slept really good. The next morning my client meeting went off without a hitch and we all left in a great mood. read more

Once we left the lobby and made it to our room, I realized I made a mistake booking here though. The room was fair. The bathroom was disappointing and dark. I think there is a mold issue because I have allergies and got a headache within an hour of entering the room. I took medicine and still woke up with a headache and so did my son. The room was humid. I have always loved staying at a Marriott, but I won't return here. It is pretty run down overall - I'm guessing Marriott bought out another hotel and tried to revamp. Staff is generally friendly and clueless. I wasted 10 minutes trying to log into the wireless by following the directions on the table tent in my room only to be told by the 1-800 support that there was no wireless available except in the lobby. When I called the front desk to ask them why the &%#%$ there were instructions in my room for logging on to wireless I had no access to they couldn't explain it either. After all this hoopla, the internet was so slow it was like a flashback to dial-up. The maids tried to clean the room at 8 AM, so make sure you put the privacy please hanger on the door if you want to sleep past salesman time, especially because the bed is quite comfortable and you might want to stay in it. The woman who was taking care of the breakfast buffet was rather rude to me, and I wrote it off because I know that those who tend the free breakfast buffets generally see the worst of human behavior, until she dumped a check in front of my husband and I and I realized that we'd just spent 14$ on the type of meal we could have gotten at a Hampton Inn (which is in the same price range as Courtyard) for free. The only indication that you have to pay is a little tiny sign, and the staff should have alerted my husband to the breakfast facts when he checked in. Too bad, because the room was pretty nice and the tv was decent, but after paying 114$ for a room I feel fleeced. read more

Very dated room, we did not have hot water the morning we were checking out, carpet filthy, tub had hair in it. Breakfast stopped at 9am & they were out of most thing, the restaurant wasn't open after that. Room had previous guest trash still in the garbage can. A lot of people walking through the lot all day & night from neighboring area. room is just dingy. Stay one exit away in Eastchase at the Hampton or Hilton. There's a lot of shops & great eateries there. read more
