She was great at answering my messages (messaging me back at midnight to confirm she is coming the next day, and confirmed the next day as well). She and a guy came in and took all our excess furniture off our hands! We had a great experience! She was really friendly. I will add that she didn't take a chair because it had animal hair on it. I am sure if I asked her she can help transport it to a dumpster she would agree. P.S., this organization helps serve many people--some of which are Black. This i a great time to donate since this charity is a way of supporting the Black Lives Movement. Due to COVID-19, a lot of companies, such as Salvation Army, aren't open. This is one way to donate!

They accept donations just as Goodwill and Salvation Army do, but they don't charge their customers for these donated items.... instead, once the participants graduate from the program, they donate the household goods and furniture to help furnish their first apartment. This is excellent!!! My only wish is that they would move the housing/dining facility away from Moore Square so it's not right downtown in the middle of everything, or figure out a way to keep people from just hanging around the area all day & night.

Then I went back and asked for help when I was evicted out of the same place, they had me move into and was told that they were not going to help and that they would not let us stay there either. Most of the women workers there are disrespectful and only help if you kiss their butts. The food was horrible and we were made to eat it even when we had issues from uncooked to harmful to someone who had allergies. If you happen to need a place and go there expect to be treated like you are on drugs and/or alcoholic. And if you have kids, they will try to force their way of child rearing on you. Also, the head guy beware. My first week I kept seeing him staring at my daughter inappropriately, which made me uncomfortable and very cautious anytime he was around the women floor. So beware and save up and keep your kids close if you ever have to go there. Be aware also you will have a bedtime and be locked out the kitchen by a certain time and that the male guards at night make rounds and walk through the lady's restroom at night. So be sure to take your kids at night and be on guard at all times.

There are various projects that your group can help with including packaging food, medicine, or toiletries. There are also some projects where volunteers can make pillow case dresses for girls or shorts and shirts for boys instead of packaging dried foods or medicine. The food project involves placing a vitamin packet (donated by Heinz), a scoop of soy flour, a scoop of dried vegetables, and a scoop of rice into a package that is weighed, sealed, and mailed overseas. Each package can feed around 6 people, more or less. If the packages go to a school, each package may be enough to feed at least 6 kids, but the same size package may not be extremely satisfying for several adults. However, it's something. And, it beats going for days without a meal. It's a lot easier for a child to concentrate, learn, and work when they have at least some nourishment. Having a meal, however small, allows them to focus on the task at hand and not their hungry belly. And, when children can get an education, it helps to reduce poverty, and when poverty is reduced in a country, everyone ultimately benefits. Instead of gorging on cake and ice cream, why not have a birthday party at Stop Hunger Now, where kids can help package meals for other kids who don't have easy access to food? They will probably have a blast preparing packages that they know will help to feed a child the same age as them on the other side of the world. You can organize a work group for a volunteer day if your organization encourages volunteer participation. Or, you can just call them up and see how you can help. Overall, a charity with a great concept and vision to help provide food and aid to people that desperately need it.

Bring your church, office, friends and sign up for a time slot to package meals for those who need it most. Their initiatives to end hunger by 2030 are amazing. We enjoyed ourselves while making a difference. With out volunteers requesting events- RAH could not operate. They employ 140 full Time Employees! That's it! They need our support! RAH is a humanitarian relief program that focuses not only on ending hunger but also education, vitamin distribution, clean water initiatives, irrigation systems, medical supplies & sustainability to reduce dependency. This organization focuses on girls education in turn reducing teen pregnancies from 5 on average to 2! That's huge! Hunger is more than a meal. Hunger is more than a person. Hunger is the key to a much bigger issue. Host an event! A birthday party ! A team building event! 2 hours is about 2,000 meals! How can you help?

Molly is a talented and experienced artist, primarily in oil and acrylic. They had invited about a dozen or so people from around CLT Region who came into town to see her and James since they live in NH. It was an interesting evening because it started raining hard just about 7p as the event was getting in gear. I'm sure it deterred quite a few from attending. There are two floors with other 'artist in residence' so it was a lively and diverse Friday crowd. I did make it 'upstairs' to meet Caitlin Cary, a local artist who has a studio there. Some may know here as vocalist/violin player with Ryan Adams formerly of the band Whiskeytown.

This is not a zoo it's a sanctuary and rescue and I highly respect what they do here. it takes a lot, more that I can probably fathom to rescue and care for all the animals they have here (they do have a lot) from a variety of turtles, tons of different birds that were beautiful, monkeys, horses, donkeys, a camel, cats, dogs, raccoons, fox, bunnies, reptiles, ant eater, bats, pigs, the list goes on. You can tell these animals are well cared for as well, just keep in mind that they are rescues and we don't know what they have been through before they arrived. the entrance fee is more than reasonable for the experience.

I had taken class there many times and had seen the staff member act suspiciously similar to other patrons, but I wasn't prepared for this interaction that left me never wanting to set foot in that establishment ever again. After her unnecessary interrogation, which I tried to politely respond to, she left for a few minutes, then walked back into class on two separate occasions to complain about me to the instructors while I was in the same room. I was a paid customer and the instructors are longtime renters of the community center. As if that wasn't bad enough, the staff member waited until I was near the entrance, bumped into me, then directed her attention to the thermostats. There were a lot of patrons in the room, so it was quite hot. The thermostats were set to 71, but she felt the need to turn them both to 72. After raising the temperature in the room, she finally walked back behind the bar. As a paid customer who was simply volunteering his time to help set up the room for dance class, the treatment I received from this staff member was deeply unfortunate. I will never do business there again.
