This was such an awesome experience, the staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Keep in mind these people are volunteers this establishment runs off of people like you and me visiting and donations. This is not a zoo it's a sanctuary and rescue and I highly respect what they do here. it takes a lot, more that I can probably fathom to rescue and care for all the animals they have here (they do have a lot) from a variety of turtles, tons of different birds that were beautiful, monkeys, horses, donkeys, a camel, cats, dogs, raccoons, fox, bunnies, reptiles, ant eater, bats, pigs, the list goes on. You can tell these animals are well cared for as well, just keep in mind that they are rescues and we don't know what they have been through before they arrived. the entrance fee is more than reasonable for the experience. read more

The 5 stars is for the overall experience. It's an animal rescue on a personal property, it is not a "zoo" that being said we saw some things we have never seen in a typical zoo. You also get up close to the animals but they are still in enclosures. For $15 a person it's more than reasonable and you know your money goes to helping the animals. If you are traveling on I-95 this is 12 minutes off the Benson exit. A great break on your long drive on I-95. Walking surfaces are natural, not paved or concrete, please consider this when choosing your footwear! read more

My experience was mostly just sad - sad for the animals trapped in small enclosures held together with what seemed to be chewing gum and duct tape. We had read about the private experience with a sloth and monkey and when we inquired they told us that would be $50 each for 30 minutes instead of the extra $20 as advertised. We looked for the kangaroos and the white peacock, and learned both kangaroos were dead and never saw a white peacock, though there were the usual peacocks around. The goats and hooved animals were in a pasture and mostly so far away there was no petting except for a couple horses and a camel that did a drive-by. This place is mostly birds, mostly run down and gives poverty vibes. Much of the water bowls were nearly empty on a hot day and some of the ponds were completely empty of water, yet the big birds were standing in what should have been their pond, completely dry. Many of the animals were just pacing and when asked about the tortoise pacing at the front gate, we were told she's just looking for food. Overall it just seemed pathetic and in need of funding and staffing for proper care and caging of the animals. I just felt sorry for the animals and the struggle it must be to care for them properly. Staff was nowhere to be seen - even when checking in - nobody at the front and the sign said to press the call button on the walkie and still nobody came for 15 minutes with several of us waiting. Finally somebody wandered by to take our money. Signage not great to learn about animals since this was a self-serve type of place - hardly any directional signs or info about the animals. Bad vibes throughout - they are struggling - both animals and owners. read more

I took my family on an outing to Animals Edventures Sanctuary; and, we had a fantastic time! The guides were very informative. They let us explore at our own pace, but they were around if we had any questions. The animals look healthy and happy; and, they appear to be well cared for too. If you don't want to make the long trip to the big zoo, Animal Edventures Sanctuary is a great substitute because you can experience many different species of animals in their habitats. We got to give the camel and some of the other farm type animals snacks. The entrance fee is very reasonable to see all of the different animals because otherwise, you might not get those experiences. I did want to pet more of the animals, but we didn't. It might have been because of the time that we went or maybe it just wasn't a safe thing to do for the animals or us. read more

What a fun afternoon with the grandkids and daughter! Lots of cool animals and birds. Dogs, pigs, tortoises and cats roaming free to pet and fuss over. A couple of kangaroos too, but don't touch them! Teddy was a sweet capuchin who was excited to have my daughter play peek-a-boo with him. What a cool little place! I highly recommend the trip! There were about 200 animals on site; many are in enclosures but there are several that roam the property: a big friendly dog, some peacocks, a couple of big pigs, cats and even a pair of kangaroos at the time we went. Things aren't fancy here but we left feeling really connected and involved with the animals. We paid an additional fee to have a private encounter with Betsy the sloth and Teddy the monkey: well worth it! ( $20.00 per person per private animal encounter) We were able to pet and feed both and learned a great deal from staff member, John, who hosted the encounters. Everyone there made us feel welcome and really seemed to enjoy working there. Time wise- we spent a couple of hours here and saw it all. I love what they are doing here and will make sure that next time I'm in the area, I visit again! read more

I'd been hearing about this place for weeks before I finally got the chance to visit, and I'm so glad I did! The animals seem happy and relaxed, and the staff really cares about them. It's not as organized as a zoo style experience (because it isn't a zoo) so if that irks you maybe steer clear, but I thought it was phenomenal. The kangaroos as well as several dogs and a couple pigs roam the property freely. All of them are friendly and a blast to interact with. (I even got to hang out with a baby kangaroo!) Having the chance to chat with the owner while I was there was very informative and I'd recommend this place to anyone looking for a fun, different and educational way to spend a weekend read more

We tried this today on a Groupon and WOW. Totally a hidden gem! Our kiddo loved being able to be so close to the camel and goats in the front and was intrigued about being able to feed them. The rest of the sanctuary provided such a variety of animals and was such a great learning experience for to see all these different types of animals in real life and not in a book! We've been to many wildlife venues... but this place is very special - for a number of reasons..... 1.) You can go on Groupon and get $20.00 for $15.00. Very affordable for families or others on a budget. 2.) This sanctuary takes in ALL sorts of distressed animals. From a very cool sloth, to rare foxes, birds etc. It has a LOT to offer in a manageable area, especially easy for kids to roam, without having a expansive zoo to negotiate around. 3.) There is staff throughout the sanctuary, which are working, but will answer any questions you may have. If you go to the herpetology exhibit (enclosure) you can see some amazing snakes, turtles, gila monsters etc. There is young man who specializes in these creatures. Ask for Kanyon! He is only 15, but we think he more like 35. He knows a LOT !! 4.) There is an amazing amount diversity. Enough to keep you occupied for 3 hours or so. Kids will love it (and older folks too!) 5.) Many animals roam about free; Kangaroos (2) peacocks, dogs, etc. for a cheap $1.00, you can feed a pretty chummy camel, goats, pigs. If you want a fun inexpensive day trip, we highly recommend visiting here. The owner, Corey is about the property and will share how she purchased the property .. and runs it on a shoe-string budget. One issue we had, is a lot of signage is missing. We wanted to know the names of animals in the enclosures, what country they are from etc.. but there was a noticeable lack of these. We asked Corey about this and was told hurricane Florence did a lot of damage. She had someone to do administrative tasks, such a making signs but she left suddenly. I'm not mad that we came here and tried something new. But, I wouldn't come again. It's pretty small for the price (around $38 for a family of four) it's not set up very well, and it's around someone's house. Most of the animals you could see anywhere (pigs, chickens, horses). We learned of Noah's Landing when they brought some of their animals up to Durham for the Great American Tobacco Duck Race. Decided to do down to Coats, NC this weekend to see the whole thing. Very glad we did. Noah's landing is a private zoo of mostly rescued animals about an hour drive from Raleigh. The price is very cheap - $10 for adults, $8 for kids. This comes with a two hour personally guided tour. Unlike most zoos this tour has you face to face (feeding, petting, etc.) the animals - see my pictures. Make sure you bring good walking shoes and a camera on your visit. Our tour started at 11:00, lasted for over two hours and was personally guided by Nathan. Nathan was knowledgeable on all of the animals, was very attentive to our kids and made the experience one of the best outings out family has had together in years. My personal favorite was their monkey who loves his back rubbed. Our kids' favorite was the Cockatoo that sang Old McDonald. The kids loved feeding the horses, donkeys, zebras, rabbits, tortoises, llamas, and yaks with carrots (they provide). read more

I was a bit skeptical about the quality being that it is privately funded, but I was completely surprised. Though it may not be much to look at, the variety of animals they have there makes for a great short outing with the family. Oh, be careful around the free roam pig too. Such a hidden little gym that supports the community around them and has great care for their animals

Visited on Sunday and was surprised to find a place like this. Animals roaming around and very friendly. They had a lot to see in a relatively small location. Kids loved the feeding area, $1 a bowl was worth the price for the fun the kids had feeding the goats, pony, lamb and a very hungry camel. Kangaroos, emus, peacocks all roaming around with dogs a pig and a sloth to boot. Not as much to see as asheboro zoo but way more impressive. Plus they are rescue animals or confiscated from illegal trade. The folks here clearly care about their job, we will be back! read more

I was a little skeptical even bringing my daughters here because sometimes places like this can have animals in, well meaning but not so great conditions. Not the case here. the animals have enclosures with ample room to get around and exercise. the staff was knowledgeable and helpful. We got there at opening and it was a little confusing...but it was figured out within 5 minutes so no biggie. if you can afford it, do the In The Scenes tour. It was well worth the extra cost. Really in depth tour and lots of meet and greet with many animals. i don't live near here, but if i did it would be on a regular to do list. Thanks to Cory and her staff for a great day. read more

Wow, what great work this group does to help these exotic animals. A variety of animals, some with such sad stories. So happy their struggle led them to this loving place. We stopped here for an impromptu visit and break from driving on our way home from Carolina Beach. We didn't do a ton of research but should have. First of all, this is someone's house...That's fine, it just wasn't really advertised as such. I have no expertise here, but to me, the animal cages seemed small. The restrooms were unclean and the porch on the house (center of the property) was cluttered and distracting. Lots of animals to see but many of them were things you can see anywhere such as rabbits, birds, and raccoons. My daughter did enjoy feeding the camel. read more

I have been a volunteer at Animal Edventure for four years. I take care of the Parrots and Macaws in the bird building. I love working here. Everyone who works here whether they are full-time employees or volunteers are here because of their great love of all animals. The animals that live here are well-loved by all of us. Cory Freeman, the owner gives 100% of her energy to this sanctuary and the animals that reside here. There are over 200 animals that live here. It is a great place for families with children or anyone looking for an interesting place to visit. This is not a zoo, it is a sanctuary. We found this place on Groupon and loved it. It's a good value even without the Groupon though. The staff was extra friendly & knowledgeable, there was a huge variety of different animals and they were obviously loved and well cared for. They all had names, were kept in nice enclosures, seemed very happy there. They were all rescued from what we were told. There were friendly cats and dogs roaming around the property that loved to be petted, and you could pay a little extra to have encounters with the monkeys, etc. We went on a really hot day but were very comfortable since the majority of the animals were under the shade of trees or in buildings. There is a picnic and playground area in the middle that our kids really enjoyed as well. We will be back! I recommend this place for sure. Great place to take the kids. read more

Worth every bit of $10. So many animals and you can pet quite a few of them and the ones you can't, you can get really close to the cage. This place as more animals and such a large variety than anywhere else. Staff is very friendly as well. read more
