This branch has flooring for 1/2 to 1/3 of the price we've seen it at other places, and a lot of it was good quality! Really nice to see an option like this. A photographer friend of mine in Winston-Salem frequents the ReStore there for items to use in photo session. Since he finds good items at that location i decided to check out the Raleigh location. Facility is large, and full of all types of home items: furniture, fixtures, cabinets, bathroom, doors, windows, and decor. I enjoyed going through the whole store and seeing the variety of things that were for sale. Couple of things to know before buying anything. They have a no negotiation policy on the prices. However items with a dated price tag may be discounted depending on how long the items has been in the store. The store does not offer refunds or exchanges. They do give a short window of time to return appliances should they not work for a store credit. Everything is sold as is, and the profits of the store help fund Habitat for humanity projects. I was pleased with the overall neatness of the presentation of items for sale. I went there to look for chairs to use in photo sessions. Thought the pricing was reasonable, and yes, the nicer condition items were priced higher than those in not as good condition. I purchased a Pier One Imports black bar stool with no nicks or damage for $50. Do check EVERYTHING carefully though. They have a rack of music CD's for $1 each, and I purchased six of them. Regretfully I didn't open the CD cases before I made the purchase. When I got home I discovered two of the six were missing the CDs. If you have time this is a good place to look around and see what's available. As my friend in Winston-Salem does, go often to see what's available. read more

Check the prices before you buy. Went here a few weeks ago and saw a rusty, banged-up, but functional tool box for $80. I was interested until my wife bothered to look up the cost of it brand new. $100. We continued to browse a bit and came across some smaller "Lakk" tables from Ikea that were adequately scratched and damaged, as you might expect in a store like this. They were asking $35 each for them. You get these brand new for $20! We looked through everything and not a single thing seemed remotely worth the price. read more

I've been a fairly regular customer at this location, and it appears they have the same old man as manager (or holding himself out to be manager/cashier), but they seem to have doubled their prices on ALMOST EVERYTHING. They claim to sell at discounted prices, but they often price items for more than the cost of them new, but of course without a warranty or option to return items for a refund. I went today looking for a loveseat or armchair with my daughter. Most loveseats were priced at $200 but the coup de grace was the couch that was marked at $1,500. No kidding. And no sale. Don't waste your time if you are looking for good, used, discounted furniture (which is most of what they have). Check new prices before buying anything here. read more

They also want more money for their dusty broken junk than it was worth new.Some people flock to these stores because they want to help " Humanity"- how is it helping anyone when they charge such outlandish prices for a broken door... and they absolutely KNOW those shopping here are poor??? Not only can you get endless supplies of light bulbs, batteries, lamps, wall fixtures, framed art and other smaller supplies, they also have couches, bed sets, refrigerators, washers and most if not all in immediate working condition. You can staff the home in this one single location. What else do they offer: 1. They get new things donated weekly 2. Great selection of books, vinyl, DVD, CD and cassettes 3. Incredibly caring and supportive customer service to help you check out and get your items loaded up 4. Freebies!!! Outside the front entrance there are always free things (books, shelves, couches, etc) 5. Toys. Yes they even have toys 6. Carpets and rugs 7. Entire bedroom sets (entire) I think this should be enough to get you out there. Even if you don't need anything specific. read more

My girlfriend and I recently found a queen sized bed frame and a lazy-boy and were super excited about buying them, but were not sure how we were going to get them to our apartment, as our car is small. When we inquired about how long they can hold an item for us, an associate named Andre let us know that they can hold it for up to 2 days after purchase and even went above and beyond to tell us that a Lowe's nearby actually rents out trucks for $20 for 90 minutes! We bought the pieces, rented the truck and Andre recognized the Lowe's truck and helped us load the furniture into our truck. He didn't have to go above and beyond, but the fact that he did showed me how great this store is (as well as the prices for the items). We will be back to shop here again. I, too, am a big fan of the Habitat for Humanity ReStore. I love two things in life more than nearly anything: the first is a worthwhile cause, and the second is saving money. Any opportunity to combine both of these causes is always a great thing. As has already been pointed out you can get some really amazing things at substantial discounts and the proceeds go towards building more Habitat for Humanity homes. My very favorite light fixture in the foyer of my house is from here, as are a good many of the replacement light plates. I like to poke around the paints as well. You can get a gallon of very expensive interior paint for four dollars instead of forty that someone had mixed and didn't pick up for whatever the reason and if you like it and need an additional gallon, you get it done by paying Sherwin Williams full price for the second gallon, thus saving yourself 40 bucks. I did that in my second bedroom. What a deal. There are always a wide wide variety of paint finishes and colors and it's fun to look through them. Knock yourself out. read more

This place is Gigantic and has everything you can imagine from people tearing apart houses and digging through the salvage to see what can be kept and re-sold for a profit. Sinks, countertops, floors, fans, doors, lumber, beams, tools, and everything that goes along with those things. It is the place that I love to be when thinking about major home refurbishments or just to see what kind of houses there are in the area. I would not personally buy a used toilet, but hey, people have to do what they can, right? read more

Last year I bought a boxspring , wrapped in plastic .. Got it home and had bed bugs returned within the hr ... the white manager with a bald head and the other guy mahommed was rude .. I prefer donating to Habitat Home Store over Goodwill as the profit does not go to someone's deep deep pockets. Also, the people running the receiving deck actually help instead of watching you and sulking that you aren't doing it fast enough. There is also a large array of materials and household items to choose from. The company as a whole has a good theory give back to the community, but make the community work for it. The prices for a restore are completely ridiculous, you might as well just buy it new. That's not what makes the prices really sad, it's the fact that 85% of the workers are volunteers or people there serving community service, and all of their inventory is donated. In our current pandemic and economic situation, really sad the prices are so high, when profits go to build homes to help families. I go once or twice a month and see the same pieces. read more

This is a super resource! They have whole sets of kitchen cabinets. There were several Kohler cast iron and enamel double bowl kitchen sinks. They were all marked $15. We were charged only $9 because it was discounted for having been there a while. (I am never going to hear the end of this.) I found seven frosted glass sconce shades for $2 each. I am pretty sure we can make them work. But if they don't we can drop them off at our local ReStore store. They are worth a road trip from Asheville. (Sorry after several trips we haven't seen anything reasonable in Asheville's ReStore). read more

Check the prices b4 buying. I bought this oak mirror on a stand and it was a new item so it was $75 which I knew was extremely pricey for what id think it would be. I bought it after sleepling on it. Even though I always research b4 I buy stuff, for some reason I waited until afterwards and I saw it on Google going for $40-55 on many sites. Plus this one obviously had flaws and whereever it came from it had a price written on it for $15. So I took it back the same day for a refund. However I did buy a white whirlpool over the range microwave the day b4 in amazing condition for $21. So you just have to find the diamonds in the rough. read more

I'm a big fan of Habitat Restore. I have found some really good deals over the years. Just yesterday, I found a new, solid surface vanity top for only $10.00. It was too good of a deal to pass up. They carry lots of lighting fixtures, odds and ends and wholesale closeouts. The facility they currently occupy is only a few years old and the staff does a good job of keeping things organized. read more

I admittedly need to give this place another try, but I felt like we couldn't find anything that we really needed. I got some great antique hinges for a project I'm working on, but other than that we came away empty handed. It actually seems a little overpriced. I don't mind paying more for a great cause, but a piece of really hammered particle board was almost $10. That's almost how much a new piece at a hardware store is. I had heard lots of wonderful things about their lumber selection here, and was almost giddy about checking it out. We build furniture and I would love to get some great deals on wood. But everything was in the back lot outside, was not organized or marked with prices, and most of it was rotted because it had been sitting in the rain. There used to be a lot of great buys, but I have completely given up on finding a decent deal now. Most of the items there should be thrown in a dumpster, the rest are overpriced and in bad repair. I've been to ReStore a few times and have found some interesting things. I love what they're there for - to re-purpose and help the community. Some things are a little high in price, but there are plenty of deals to be found. Today I stumbled across a gem - a new 7 piece bed set, made of real hardwood, in fantastic shape, for an absolute steal. I am delighted to have found this, as it is a present for my new house. The staff was very friendly, very available, and very helpful when loading this onto our truck, even after closing. I absolutely recommend this business and will shop there again! And again! Especially when I find some cabinetry for my laundry room. read more

If it was not for all the charity Habitat does, I would bring back the two big rugs, I was conned by the salesperson to buy. These rugs lasted 2 weeks before they started falling apart. They used to have good quality rugs there. I don't know what happened to their quality. read more

They have finally cleaned up this store so it is much easier to look at things instead of sorting thru boxes of stuff/junk. Still dissatisfied w/ check out process and price labeling. Too long of lines and many things not marked, causing problems at check-out. Hi..I must say that I was so excited to finally be able to visit the restore in my quest for much needed kitchen cabinets..I could not hardly wait to get there and find my bargain to finish my kitchen..then..my dreams crashed when I saw the stuff they had..The prices were ridicuious..and the products looked awful...they had only a few things that were priced where they should be..but most of it...come on...get real...the doors and windows, I can get new at Lowes for the price..and even though they had a complete kitchen cabinet set..it was 1600.00..and it was beat up, scratched, and some pieces were broken..No doubt..my excitement turned to disappointment quickly...2 days later..I met someone who had visited another resale store and their response to their vist was also disappointment..You do good as far as your deed to building new homes for people, but your resale store should price as a resale..not a new product..So disappointed.. read more

This is a big store, so that's nice. There is always a lot of stuff in there. I've bought a lot of things there in the past- my kitchen cabinets, sinks, doors, windows, light fixtures, dishwasher, probably at least 50 gallons of paint, dehumidifier, air ionizers, plywood, wallpaper, a propane furnace, and tons of miscellaneous construction stuff that slips my mind. Conservatively speaking, I've spent at least $5,000 there, much of it a few years back. These days the prices are pretty crazy- $10 for a hammer? $75 for a heavily rusted lawnmower that doesn't start? $2000+ for a set of dust covered kitchen cabinets in fair/good condition? $495 for a used top loading washer dryer set? $3 for a partially used 1 lb box of nails? $100 for a used 2 foot tall mini fridge? You'll find these inflated prices all over the store. In most cases you're better off heading to Lowes or looking on Craigslist. I still go there on occasion, because once in a while there is something that accidentally wasn't overpriced and is worth buying. There are always customers inside, so someone is buying the stuff. Just be aware that bargains are few and far in between, and you may come away empty handed. read more
