We were also incredibly lucky to visit while the fairy garden installation was happening, which was truly the cherry on top. There were so many little details to discover, and it made the experience feel extra magical. We took our time wandering the grounds, had a picnic at the designated table area, and then spent time in the craft workshop making mermaids to take home as a special memory from our visit. We also loved getting to see the animals--it was such a fun and unexpected surprise! This was one of those places where every time we thought we had seen everything, there was something else to explore. It was such a wonderful experience, and I highly, beyond highly, recommend visiting!

There is a welcome hut where they give out maps and collect the suggested $5 donation. We walked some of the woods to view some of the sculptures. Several were very attractive and other pieces were not as striking. There is a fairy garden type play area where a number of kids were running around. We walked through the main arts building. We saw some exhibits and the gift shop. On the whole, it was smaller than I expected, but we did not walk all of the paths. I'm glad we took a look. I would be interested in returning when they have a festival or for the holiday lights.

What a gem! Chessie's Big Backyard is such a great spot for kids (and grown-ups who like a good…read morewalk). The walking trails were really nice--well maintained with peaceful forest views. Perfect for a stroller, and some nature scavenger hunts. The playground itself is huge and looked really well cared for. The toddler area was unfortunately closed during our visit, but the rest of the space more than made up for it. There are tons of benches and seating all around, and you can see most of the playground from just about anywhere, which is so helpful when you're keeping an eye on kiddos. There's a massive covered pavilion area that would be perfect for group meetups or a picnic in the shade. And while it was still closed for the season, the splash pad/water park area looked like fun! Definitely planning to come back in the summer to check it out! Such a great spot to have in the area!

Which wouldn't normally annoy me, however today she specifically wrote her number down and told me to call as soon as I had updated info. 5 minutes after leaving I called over 9 times spanning 15/20 minutes. I went back in and called when I walked in to see if their phones were broke. They rang and no one got up or even looked at the phone. So basically just go in if you need anything. The admin office in the back is much better with customer service. They actually talk to you like a human. The nature trails here are lovely, beaches are gorgeous and the gate guards are so kind. People will throw your laundry out of the wash so beware of the selfish people that come. It's nice that there's so many cabins because it is easy to have last minute visitors make a reservation.

Hollis Park is a small 1.9 acre park space beside the municipal building in St. Michaels, near the…read moreChesapeake Bay Maritime Museum. There is a canal running along one side of it, and a nearby bridge. The park has benches, picnic tables, and a playground (swings, slide, and wood pirate ship). A park this small is not really a destination, but it is nice to have as public space, especially due to the number of tourists visiting St. Michaels. The sitting places and waste disposal are very helpful for those needing a place to rest a bit while walking the town, or to eat lunch, or bring a blanket to picnic. I know that with a baby, stroller, and dogs, this kind of stop can be really helpful just to regroup and regain composure for the next activity. For those with older kids, it's a great spot to get energy out on the playground, or simply running in the grass. This would probably also be a good meeting place for visiting groups, or like a check-in location for a field trip. It is a peaceful little spot, and the harbor is directly across from it, so there are great water views!

The Salisbury Zoo is such a cute, fun, (and free!) way to spend an afternoon…read more They have bears, a white peacock named peekaboo (who is not albino contrary to popular belief), flamingos, macaws, otters and much more. Overall pretty small, but totally packs a punch for a community zoo that runs on a donations only basis. We learned that Peekaboo the white peacock, loves to show off to guests wearing bright colors, because the female peacock that they have on the grounds, doesn't like him, hahaha. What a shame, he's so pretty! We also learned that Peekaboo thinks that he's prettiest from the back (ayeeeee) so if he's shaking his tail feathers at you, he must really think you're fineeeeeee. Too funny.

They were working on one small section, but it didn't disrupt too much. It doesn't matter which entrance you start at - there's not much of a hill, and there is park to walk in on either side of the zoo as well. The only animals we didn't see were the Spectacled Owl, Lynx, Prairie Dog, some of the monkeys, Ocelot, and Fox Squirrel. Everything else was out and mostly awake. My favorites were the Burrowing Owl, Peccary, and Flamingos. I've never been that close to a flamingo before and they sounded like geese! We'll definitely stop in again whenever we're in the area. (an EV charger nearby would be perfect!)

There is an entry fee for non AA county residents of $8 and for residents it's maybe $5, cash or card. Lots of parking at all different places. Recommend coming early on nice days to avoid crowds. I have been many times to do many things and we always enjoy coming back!

They have a peer that you can go fishing on as well as crabbing and they also have a kid friendly outdoor pool which is separate from where the pier is located. It's very inexpensive only three dollars to enter and everyone is nice. I've never had any problems and the kids are super friendly Cash Only (it's not posted on the web site) and be ready to have a lot of fun!!
