Everytime I have to speak to the front office near the gate my blood pressure raises. They never answer the phone. Which wouldn't normally annoy me, however today she specifically wrote her number down and told me to call as soon as I had updated info. 5 minutes after leaving I called over 9 times spanning 15/20 minutes. I went back in and called when I walked in to see if their phones were broke. They rang and no one got up or even looked at the phone. So basically just go in if you need anything. The admin office in the back is much better with customer service. They actually talk to you like a human. The nature trails here are lovely, beaches are gorgeous and the gate guards are so kind. People will throw your laundry out of the wash so beware of the selfish people that come. It's nice that there's so many cabins because it is easy to have last minute visitors make a reservation. read more

The facility went down hill. It use to have beautiful views. Now the trees block most of views from the pool, the cottages, the trails, the street, cabins, homes, the gazebos and pavilion. The fishing pier has views of the river but can use a lot of work. The beach has the view. The tennis court is dilapidated. And I am sure the driving range can use the most. The waterfront cottage was gross. It was dirty with dried bugs on the beds and the carpet smelled like urine What happened to this beautiful place of the past. Who is managing it? read more

You get what you paid for, not bad but not great. I'm only disappointed because we stayed in the cabin and there were so many rules about cleaning it before you depart. The temperature needs to be set to a certain number, you must put all linen in a provided bag, clean ur dishes and put them all away. All furniture needs to be put back exactly where it was note: if you want to use the pull out couch, you will need to move everything, or else you are trapped and have no easy access to the front door Incase of an emergency. The trash needs to be walked all the way to wherever the big dumpster is (never close) and if you like to shower with warm water you have 3-4 minutes of hot water. Lastly do not, have the microwave and tv on at the same time...everything will shut down, that includes the over head fan that makes a wonderful clicking noise ALL NIGHT LONG!! I'm surprised it hasn't fallen on someone yet! Will I satay here again? I'll need to pass and stay on base, it's not cheaper than the base hotel btw, the hotel has no pool but you have to pay $7 per person to go in anyways. read more

We enjoyed our time at Solomons NRC! Things we enjoyed included the nature trail, the beach, the campsite, the ease of check-in and getting in and out of the gate, and the proximity of the NRC to other conveniences and travel destinations. We spent part of a day at the beach and appreciated how clean it was, and that there were 2 lifeguards on duty. The waters were mostly calm because of where the No Wake zone begins. We swam with schools of minnows, and saw a few jellyfish that we were sure to keep our distance from. Opportunities for improvements. This is one of the first campgrounds we have been to that simply have grass and mud for the driveway/RV pad. Even the various state parks we have been to have gravel, so I would assume it's not a cost thing prohibiting this park from doing the same. The mud really makes it difficult to enjoy the campsite after the rain, and causes uneven ground that is hard to level a camping trailer on. One afternoon, we decided to go to the pool. It had rained overnight and there were significant winds. I was surprised by how dirty the pools were. If they can't sweep up the leaves and debris in the pools... are they keeping up with the chemicals needed to clean the water after all the humans are swimming in there? In any case, I do think we would return. Despite the mud and dirty bathrooms, we mostly enjoyed the amenities of the NRC. I think our favorite spots were the nature trail and the beach, for sure. read more

Excellent place to get away from it all. Nice accommodations. The Cozy Cabins are very nice. Rustic style. Very clean and the cabin had everything you'd need. Private full bath, full kitchen, living room, private bedroom, loft, screened porch, parking and a grill. Will be back for sure! read more

My husband and I are full time traveling RVERS. We made reservations here and we were excited to stay by what the pictures had portrayed. We pulled in and directed to our site G36. It was a mud hole!!! Not to mention all the other RV spots were trashy looking and muddy. I told my husband I would not stay here. We were so disappointed that a Navel Base thought that this was acceptable. I understand it rains but, if we would have pulled in that spot we would have needed a tow truck to get out! I wish I could say I saw something nice but, I didn't. We had to find another place on Easter Sunday and everything was closed. We did find a place but this was all very stressful!! I have been coming to this place for ever 30 years, and I have always loved it. Though it has changed over the years it has managed to retain most of what has made it so great, and expand on some the things that were previously just average. When I first started coming here as a child if you weren't at the pool, then the beach near the pier was the spot to be. It had life guards, and a bunch of weird aquatic rides that you could take into the water. My favorite was the over sized tricycle that you could ride out in, or the 2 person pedal boats that they had (which are gone now). They also did bonfires, and a bunch of different events at club 9 for the kids (which they no longer do). The pier itself used to have employees that ran the stand in the front. They used to sell bait, and certain food. I used to stay going there just to get the snow cones (which is now closed, and so is part of the pier due to tropical storms) I know you're reading this like damn, well whats left? Well as most people who come do, there is still plenty to do as a family on solomons island. The base is on the edge of Calvert County, and St, Mary's county which have both really been built up since my days as a kid on the base. The pool area is easily one of the best in the county, and with the addition of the log cabins and a few other housing areas you can make you trip as modern or rustic as you would like. The beach near the pier isn't really monitored anymore, but they carved out a area to swim that is right next to the pool, knocked down the old playground that was there and put a new one across the street. the miniature gold that used to be right next to the pool, as been renovated and now located across the street next to the activity center (which gives you access to the driving range, miniature golf, arcade, pool tables, and other activities that small kids/teens will love). The environment is very safe, and I personally have never heard of major issues occurring on the site. As a child growing up spending the majority of my summers on this base, and now being a parent myself. I still love coming here and being able to share the experience with my children. Definitely a good time for everyone. read more

Cancelled the pavillion 22 days prior the use of the Pavillion 28 July 2012 and was charged a $25.00 Administration fee.
