I am so impressed by Covenant and here is why (even now, after being away for almost 2 years): teachers who truly get to know their students, invest in them, and love them. I believe this school is very special! I can't sing their praises enough. I miss it dearly after becoming a stay-at-home parent. My son and I had a similar experience as Bonita W. He attended from 2004 to 2010, leaving in 9th grade. He didn't fit the CCA mold. The lower school, when we started was good. My sons elementary teachers, grade 3 through 5 were very exceptional, his 3rd grade teacher was phenomenal. She is no longer there, or his 4th grade teacher either. They had a change in administration, and many of the long time people left. I know from painful personal experience that the teachers and administrators do gossip about the students and their families. They don't temper what they say in front of their own children, so often the teachers talk is repeated at the lunch room table the next day. It was common for one administrator to call students into his office and interrogate them to "tell" what they knew on other students and their families. CCA published rules of conduct were not applied equally to all students, it was subjective and up to CCA teachers and administrators to dictate as they saw fit. CCA advertised as a classic Christian and college preparatory institution. The education is obtained at great expense and has no transferable equivalent to the local IB high school in either AP classes or IB classes. The honor designation that CCA has for their classes does not transfer to any standard outside of CCA. As they advertise as a non denominational "Christian" institution, I found them to be less compassionate Christian and more Calvinistic in their beliefs and outlooks. It was my observation that the majority of people at CCA were cliquish and suffer from a religious elitist snobbery. There were some teachers, administrators, students and their families who were kind, caring and compassionate. I hold them dear in my heart. It just seemed like there were so many more people who were thoughtless and over impressed with their own sense of self righteousness. The few good did not balance out the many perceived bad for us. I could write a small novel about our dismal experience with CCA. I will not. After careful consideration, I can say I do not recommend CCA as a Christian academic institution. read more

I am writing this review for parents who are on the fence about putting their children in this environment. This is simply my experience and not a personal attack. The only reason I give the school two stars is due to the curriculum. Otherwise, zero stars would be given. I went to covenant from about 1997 to 2005. From pre school to 7th grade. the lack of empathy shown to a child suffering severe clinical depression was horrendous and traumatic. I was severely depressed from 4th grade much into my life until recently and instead of being guided I felt more like a throw away than a child deserving of gods love. This feeling was largely brought on by the bullying I felt by the teachers and the parents gossiping about my struggle with self harm. Things may have changed, but I feel very very sorry for those who do not fit the cca mold and how the gossiping between faculty and parents damages those children who are already suffering. read more

Three of our children have graduated from CCA and our youngest will graduate in 2016. Each began at CCA in Pre-kindergarten. Our children have been enrolled at CCA for each of the past 28 years. CCA has been an incredible blessing to our family. Two of our children had learning differences and succeeded. All of our children have received classical educations and have been grounded in truth, goodness and beauty. Our oldest son is now an Air Force JAG Officer, recently returned from deployment in Afghanistan. CCA prepared him well for an undergrad degree in political philosophy and for Law School. One of our most academically challenged children graduated Summa Cum Laude from The Savannah College of Art and Design with a degree in Photography. She received the highest art scholarship awarded by SCAD. CCA was instrumental in helping her discover her giftedness. Our youngest daughter is studying abroad in Japan in her 3rd year at Calvin College. She received the highest merit scholarship awarded by Calvin College. We would highly recommend CCA to any like-minded family who wishes to invest in their children. read more

We have been so impressed with everything! We love how all things at CCA are sprinkled in love, prayer and the desire to honor the Lord. Our son's teacher is such a blessing as she has really reached into his heart and brought out some amazing fruit in him as he transitioned to a new environment with new friends and surroundings. My wife and I have had our two children at CCA since pre-K. Our oldest is now in 7th grade and the youngest is in 3rd. Each new school year we ask ourselves if the money spent in tuition is worth the education our kids receive, and each year we decide to enroll again. Our family has been here for 8 years and could not be happier. Every environment has pluses and minuses, but our child has thrived here. The teachers are exceptional and have promoted a true love of learning and the students/families have been exceptional. I have 2 children who have attended Covenant. One started in Kindergarten and one in the Pre-K 4 class. My oldest is now in 10th grade. I could not recommend a school more highly than this one. My children have received the best academic preparation possible, all taught through a Christian world view so they are becoming young people who know why they believe what they believe and are grounded in their faith. in addition, they feel loved by those who teach and mentor them; teachers and older students alike. The school is large enough to offer lots of extracurricular and athletic opportunities yet small enough that anyone who wants to participate can. As a graduate of this school, I can honestly say my experience at CCA was Pretty good, and overall the curriculum was better than most Public schools, apart from the honor system and lack of AP/IB options. As a whole academically, I was much more prepared to go to College than 99% of my friends that went to public school, so the college prep part of CCA is spot on and I am very thankful for that. After CCA I was ready for the college workload and it seemed just like another year when I went to college. However due to the lack of the AP/IB options, I was only able to have 6 hours going into college and I believe the maximum you would be able to get is far under 20, with most studious students getting about the same amount as me, with the options available around CCA it is frustrating seeing this happen especially when my friends who were about as studious if not a little less go into college with 30+ easily. For education, CCA gets a A- and the only reason it's not an A++ is the AP/IB situation But apart from these complaints the education at CCA is Unbeatable in the area as far as classics and a Socratic learning style which is so uncommon these days. It was nice to be in an environment where class discussion was fostered and learning was active. My main complaint comes in just like the others in the fact that the administration ( not all, but seemingly anyone with any sort of power or influence) is very biased and Calvinistic. Many of the administration Coke from the same Presbyterian background and although Calvinism isn't explicitly taught, it is definitely known by all the students that the majority of the administration is very openly Calvinistic. I feel like for any institution that claims to be non denominational there needs to be much for denominational diversification among the staff. The school as a whole is almost entirely Protestant as well, just a side note. The second complaint I have is the interference with students personal lives. I understand that CCA was going for an Christian life approach but there is no reason that any school should be involved with students lives outside of school and their family situation as much. CCA is definitely a family and during my years there my personal family felt the same way, but this is a double edged sword in the fact that if you need help with almost anything, especially spiritual needs there was someone who more than wanted to help you, but if your situation involved something the administration didn't agree with, you'd be In a rough place. Everybody knew everyone's business and through CCA glasses this transparency was great because it allowed for accountability outside the classroom, but there is a point that is too far, and in my experience, it was crossed far too many times. My classmates were punished many, many times for things that got to the administration through the grapevine that didn't happen on CCA property or during School hours or involve CCA in any way outside from a student who went to CCA being involved. To you this might not be a problem, but to me it was completely ridiculous. Also big side note , the entire entity is COMPLETELY homophobic, and the teachers and administration Are not in the slightest embarrassed to admit their open disdain for the LGBTQ community. Hate was never preached but the administration definitely viewed homosexuality as inherently evil. The athletics were fantastic, especially since every student is encouraged to do as many sports as possible, and the coaches in all the sports were for the most part far superior than most public school coaches, who maybe might know the game slightly better and have more coaching experience, but we're lacking hard in the athlete empathy and common sense departments. For athletics I'd give CCA and A+ The student life is pretty good and apart from the usual school cliquey-ness which is unavoidable at any educational institute, the students welcomed newcomers with open arms, to give a concrete example on my first day of school at CCA I walked out of school with plans for the weekend. For student life CCA gets an A The fine arts at CCA are pretty good, however, the fine arts budget is dominated by the annual play which most students are involved with in some way, shape or form, from the art students helping with set design, theater and choir kids in the production, the video production kids doing the technical side, the yearbook kids doing photography of the performances, and whoever else who wanted to help doing makeup, or backstage work. Because of this inclusion and how good the performances are for how small CCA is, most people don't have a problem with the Musicals, however, they should spend more money in other fine arts. Overall i'd give experience at CCA a B+ and after talking to other friends to who to other private schools in the area, I'd say CCA is a decent choice if you are alright with a religious elitist dominated educational experience read more

The teachers and administrators are kind, loving, and well-qualified. The school is more than a school, it's a community. Teachers communicate with parents. Parents help each other out. I could not be more excited or passionate to write a review for Covenant Christian School and to sing their praises. My daughter started this year in 9th grade and from the time I first attended the open house to her shadow day experience and connecting with teachers during the summer to her first day of school and into this next semester....she has had an unbelievable experience. We originally came from another private Christian school in the area so I was a little nervous to enroll her in a classical school however after much prayer and seeking God's will for our lives I stepped out in faith. The transition to this school has been so seamless and so incredibly peaceful. I love being in the center of God's will and being obedient to his call on her life which as a parent allows me to surrender my will to HIS will. She is thriving at this school and is constantly being challenged to live up to her full potential from the classroom to the soccer field. I am so grateful for the administration and teachers for creating a space where the students in the rhetoric school can truly feel like they are becoming young adults. The teachers are so vested in these students and take the time to get to know them at a HEART LEVEL so they can truly speak into their lives and minister truth and love to them. If you are trying to make a decision about this school and whether it will meet the needs of your child then I am highly recommend you prayerfully consider this opportunity to step into an AMAZING experience and possibly a place where your child will be transformed in every area of their life. My daughter has attended CCA for the past 5 years after a very bad experience at another private school in the area. CCA could not have been better for my daughter. Her self esteem was severely damaged and the teachers and students and parents were very understanding and eager to help her reclaim her self worth. This school has a heart for children and families who are believers in a healthy environment with high standards. I appreciate CCA for many reasons. They have a special environment there at CCA that encompasses the heart of Christ. I have discovered that from the admissions process all they way through the curriculum and administration and teachers they truly partner with families who want a Christian education in a Christian environment. CCA follows biblical principals and expects the parents to hold up their part of the covenant in doing the same at home. I am pleased to say that CCA has a heart for missions and ministry, however, their main goal is to educate our children in a Christian environment, and they expect the church family of the parents to minister and provide the missions opportunities. That is why it is so important to the covenant that is signed by each family to be active church attenders. Being a parent at CCA is a true partnership of parents and school to teach our children a worldview education with a Christian perspective. It is a balanced education in that our children have the tools to defend their faith when they are out on their own and find that at every turn their faith is attacked in the world around us. At CCA, they have been given the tools to defend and follow God's promises and commandments without judgement. I am proud to say that CCA's mission statement is followed without variance and they stand strong even in adversity to what they believe.
