Conventry Gardeners is the landscape company that others aspire to be. They specialize in stunning gardens that will make you the envy of everyone on your block. When I first re landscaped my historic home back in 2001, I didn't go with Coventry but in all the years that have since passed, I wished I had. So when it came time to pull the landscaping and start anew, my first and only call went to Coventry Gardeners and they delivered on my vision beautifully. While on the pricey end (you get what you pay for) their team of designers (thanks, Rebecca!) do a beautiful job in laying out the garden. I like that they show you a layout as well as colored pictures of what plants you are agreeing to. While I like to putter in gardening, there were some plants that even my green thumb didn't recognize so the pictures were really helpful. And once the garden has been installed, their seasoned team of gardening professionals take care of it like it is their own personal garden. I stepped out of the house on a Saturday, only to find their lead gardener in my garden making sure that everything was growing as planned. The other nice thing that they did was "save" some of the plants that I was removing and found other places to tuck those plants in. Really special. If price is your determinant, then you should look elsewhere as while competitive, Coventry Gardeners are at the high end of the range. But if you want quality from the design stage, to the plants themselves, to the maintenance, then this is the company for you. I have a main garden on the back slope, a shade garden near the house and a garden at the front of the house , all designed by Karen and installed over the last 3 years by her capable and personable staff. Neighbors even come over to have their family pictures taken in front of the dazzling, colorful display! We could not be more satisfied! When the front garden was devastated by repairs to the garage foundation, They came over this morning and restored it to its previous glory, We get MANY compliments from the neighbors, and walkers have been known to stop and look. We utilize Coventry's yearly maintenance, so the gardens are alsways in top shape throughout the season, and even during the winter they make a pleasant scene! I was extremely impressed with their website and online photos but my first call to the company was very disappointing. I told the woman who answered the phone if I could talk to someone about landscape design, but immediately for some reason she started hedging and seemed uninterested in what I needed before I even had a chance to explain my vision. I simply started by saying I wanted native plants represented in my garden but she quickly responded that they don't offer that service. Why immediately make a judgment on the scope of services before hearing my thoughts? What she should have done instead of taking a discouraging tone with me is say, " Can I take your information so a designer can talk to you about your garden goals?"... I have a budget of $25k and was looking for an inviting garden with a welcoming path, a place to entertain, and an area for my vegetable garden. But she didn't even bother to ask instead just stopping the conversation at " we don't do native plants just cultivated ones"... in my opinion, natives are far less demanding and you as the landscaping firm should easily be able to work in natives to a design because of that...I guess I will go somewhere else. read more

Rebecca designed our garden and it looks great. We get compliments on it all the time. One of our neighbors said they wanted to take a picture of our garden and copy it! The crew is really friendly and every time they visit they make our garden look brand new. I would definitely recommend Coventry for a one of a kind, standout garden...no one does a better job than them! read more

After finding out that almost every garden that caught my eye in the Hinsdale area was designed by Coventry - I wanted to call them, but felt I probably didn't have the budget. So I started planning a garden re-design with another newer firm. That company was nice but when I looked at the design, I realized it wasn't well planned. Frustrated I had Karen/Coventry come over and she understood my taste and personality right away. She did a lovely design and worked with us to break the work down into sensible stages AND understood, that I was going to do some of it myself. The garden is lovely--their attention to detail is wonderful, from enriching the plant beds before planting, the quality of plants they use and the care in their installations. A Coventry designed garden is not a cheap endeavor, but their work speaks for itself . . . drive around the Hinsdale area and when you spot the lovely perennial gardens, ask who designed and installed them . . . I guarantee that the majority will be Coventry! read more
