Montanos just finished my paver patio. The level of service and quality of work was excellent. Carlos was very communicative throughout the entire process. From coming up with the design to guiding me in selecting the materials, he was top notch. There was one concern due to an issue the city inspector had, but Carlos had his crew out literally the next day to resolve it. After seeing Montano's ad on Facebook and seeing them highly recommended on the Nextdoor online community, we met with Carlos to get proposals to update our patio. The existing patio was nice but didn't meet our needs. During our initial meeting Carlos listened to what we were looking for and returned soon with an outstanding design proposal which included an outdoor kitchen, living area with a fire pit as well as a pergola to provide shade from the sun. He worked with us closely through the entire design build process including updating the landscaping with mature trees and shrubs. It was a delight to work with Carlos and Amanda! They guided us through three iterations of a design for our back and side yards ... it was a big job that included a retaining wall, pavers and adding a water feature. They started when they said they would, their crew was professional, friendly and cleaned up after themselves at the end of each day. We could not be happier with how it all turned out ... we live on a golf course and often have golfers comment on how good our yard looks. Wanted to wait a few months to see how the lawn looks before writing a review, and pleased to say it looks fantastic. We used Carlos and team to overhaul the backyard, which included new sod everywhere. The project was done in the spring when there were a lot of rainy days impacting scheduling, but Carlos was very proactive about communicating schedules. Old lawn, beds etc were removed on 1 day, and then topsoil, new french drain, ground cover, and sod installed. It looked great when completed, and still looks great as we end the summer. I liked how Carlos was able to scope the project based on my feedback, adding certain things and removing others based on my priorities. Would definitely consider using Montanos for future projects including landscaping & patio/deck reconstruction. read more

We just completed a very large hardscape/landscape project with Carlos and we could not be happier! Carlos is one of the most honest and transparent people I have worked with to date. He created a beautiful space out of a muddy mess and was engaged in the process personally from start to finish. Well where to start, after 8 years finally would do true softscaping and landscaping. I struggled finding someone to do the job. Obviously if going cheap "you get what you pay for." I met Carlos and after he gave me the plans and options, no pressure at all, I knew he was the right person and company. Carlos Montano and his great crew replaced our decaying wood deck with a stunningly beautiful patio complete with ALL of the artistic touches: colored accent brick on both the floor and seat walls, LED photo-cell lights (with the necessary electric components- transformers and timers, etc.), bullet lights for our trees, pillars, curved walls, and decorated steps leading down from the house doors. Although my husband and I came up with the main color scheme, Carlos was able to take it to the next level AND keep everything within budget for a really big job. Carlos and his men were timely, professional, courteous and dedicated to the task at hand. From demolition on day one to the final walk-through, we have not been disappointed. The end result is absolutely glorious. I cannot recommend Montano's Landscaping enough- if you want some of the best work in the northeastern Illinois area, this is your company to call. We recently purchased our home and knew the landscaping/hardscaping would need a lot of work- but had no idea where to begin. We called Montano's and haven't worried/looked back since. Carlos came out and, like the expert he is, was able to tell us exactly what to do within our budget. He and his team buried our sump pump discharge, our gutter downspouts, ripped out trees to give us more light/curb appeal and sod areas of our backyard that wouldn't previously have been able to get light. The team is professional, fast and SO good at what they do- can't speak highly enough about them (and that's why we're having them come back to put in a new driveway/brick patio). So we and my hubby had Carlos come by for some input on privacy for our back yard. Carlos came, had a tablet in his hand and was there for about 20 min--not once did he show us what the pics of the different trees would look like nor show us different ideas and or options. I had to ask him if he can show me some pics. I was told on the phone that a sketch would be drawn out and that wasn't even shown shown us. Well We saw the estimate today and boy oh boy, the 3 other trees that I did not even ask for, nor did I had any idea nor did we talk about them were in the invoice. Also, They will not come out and do business unless it's more then six trees of service! Wow , really!!!! We were not please with his consult visit, he was very discouraging, he made no effort to make a sale nor give us optional ideas.I would not recommend this company. First impressions are the best impressions but he did not even try to make us happy in what we were looking for. IS THIS WHAT HE CALLS BEING A GOOD SALESMAN FOR THE COMPANY THAT YOU REPRESENT!!!
