Eric Galloway, Western DuPage Landscaping Architect, came to our home and patiently listened to my vision of the project. Based one his experience he made a couple of changes to our vision. All his suggestions were improvements to our vision. He then designed plans for the project and provided a quote. We felt the quote was reasonable. On the start date, the crew arrived on time, introduced themselves and reviewed the plans with us to be sure we were all on the same page. The crew worked hard in very hot weather. They were very careful to be sure there was no damage to our property. The finished product is better than we expected. Bottom line - it is well worth what we paid. Matt did the design work. He was very patient with me as I changed my plan several times. Once we committed to the job, Tyler oversaw the work. After 37 years our back yard was in need of a major renewal. The plant material was fading, deck boards were failing, a natural privacy screen for the adjacent properties and sidewalk was desired, and the grill needed to be removed from the deck. We were in search of a creative landscape architect who would be interested in our project. A designer who could develop a beautiful plan that would be easier to maintain and look like a naturalized woodland. Eric Galloway of Western DuPage Landscaping was a perfect match. After presenting the original plan, he continued to perfect it according to our discussions. In addition to solving our objectives, Eric suggested a modest regrading of the backyard, which resulted in only one step being needed to ascend the deck, previously there were three. We particularly like his use of arborvitae as a natural screen, his recommendation for a walkway that included a small patio to one side of the deck for the grill, and the use of low maintenance ground covers. The redesigned beds and newly selected plant material are cohesive and simplistic. We love the new look and function of our yard! The manner in which Eric and his crew executed the plan was also first rate. They always communicated when they were coming and the worksite was maintained in an orderly fashion until completion. When they had questions, they sought our input. After correcting the grading problem, the plants were placed according to Eric's design. The experience and care utilized to construct the bluestone walkway and patio were impressive. We are very pleased with the quality of Eric Galloway's work and the Western DuPage Landscaping installation team. I am beyond happy about my experience with Western Dupage Landscaping!! My husband and I recently moved to Glen Ellyn last December 2018. We tried to spruce things up a little, but it was extremely daunting not to mention I got poison ivy three times! I had called up WDL after receiving info from a family member, Matt was great came onsite (Pre-COVID) to discuss a plan of attack. He set expectations, let me know his ideas and where I needed to give some TLC. The wait was a little long 6-8 weeks (I'm also impatient ) but it was WELL WORTH IT!! I'm so proud to drive up to my home and see the beautiful work they've done. They even went above and beyond with extra mulch they had left over and filled some of my other flower beds, weeded and transplanted plants I would like to keep!! Unbelievable!! About a year ago, we worked with Matt Ewert who recently joined Western DuPage Landscaping in like April/May of this year, 2019. And, perhaps in reading some comments below, I can see that maybe there was a reason for a new addition like Matt (although we had heard decent enough things about Western DuPage through respected sources, had a decent encounter with them once, and really thought their designs were extremely attractive). Regardless, as for working with Matt, he was very prompt in getting out to visit us and drawing up a design and listening to our wishes, presenting a backyard landscape and pond design that matched exactly what we specified. However, perhaps seeing a bit of the possible error of our ways, he also took the time to develop and present another idea that competing designers had not thought of and that we neglected to consider. Matt's second design was the one we ultimately went with as it really optimized the backyard and existing features. While Matt is very low pressure and while the design was very aesthetically pleasing, he still presented the design out of an expertise and pragmatism that was very assuring. We really feel we might have made a mistake putting in just something average had we not met Matt. At installation time, Matt was always very considerate and conscientious, and he got the rather large job done exactly when promised. Overall, we had a great experience working with Matt. The plants were well chosen for the climate, and the landscape turned out beautifully. And, an additional key people forget is that you will often work with landscapers, contractors, pool builders, etc., for many years to come, so Matt's very nice demeanor is also a plus. OMG! Simply the worst! Lazy lazy lazy! These guys cut the grass so uneven. They never trim our hedges. Don't trip bushes. Leave debris all over our lawns. The only reason our CCHOA hires them is because they're so cheap. I guess if you pay them crap you can expect a crappy job. I wonder who is driving the lawn mower Stevie Wonder? These guys don't even show up. They do the least amount of work and get away with it. I confronted the supervisor who never mowed the back of our townhome for months who laughed when I showed him it hadn't been mowed at all. I mean is this guy for real? If your thinking of hiring these guys do yourself a favor and think again!!! Don't do it! You've been warned. The worst of the worst!!!! They sit around eating lunch more than the work. Work? My family contacted Matt at Western Dupage landscaping for a large project that we wanted to be completed in phases. We were happy that Matt was willing to accommodate our timeline and budget constraints since we couldn't do the full landscaping project around our entire property at one time. Matt quoted exactly what we wanted in phase 1. We were impressed with the level of detail and professionalism not just with him, but with his digital drawing of the plans. We talked to Matt in late 2021 and at that time he gave us an estimated completion date sometime in May or June of 2022 depending on availability of the plant products we chose. Matt's crew came out this month in May and completed the project within hours! The landscaping in the front of our home looks fantastic and exactly what he drew up on the plans. What I was most impressed with is that we told Matt that we wanted a minimal yet functional look and he delivered! We put a lot of pressure on him to satisfy what we were asking without giving him specific flowers/plants/shrubs we wanted. We put the ball in his court and he gave us a slam dunk. Great job team! Not a great company to work with! The designer I worked w / did not listen to what we wanted. Had to call repeatedly to get in touch with someone. Waited several months to get work done , And when they finally showed up more than half of the plantings were put In the wrong place. (Even though there was a map!) duh!!! My wife and I worked with Matt as our landscape architect. He came out to our house and we talked about our ideas as we walked our property. He let us know what plants would work best based on the sun and shade on our property. We got along great with him (We especially enjoyed his sense of humor). He designed a plan for us and we met at the office to go over it. We liked the layout as well as the plant, shrub and tree suggestions. We had about a month before the project would start. During that time we decided on some changes and Matt was very receptive to those changes. Our day arrived and Juan the foremen and his crew knocked everything out inside of 5 hours and cleaned up spectacularly afterwards. Juan walked us through the plantings and how to care for them. The day afterwards Matt came out to go over the results. We decided we didn't like the location of two plants. He suggested several boxwoods to give us a more formal look which we liked. He also suggested another location for the two plants which we liked. Overall, this was a wonderful experience from start to finish. We will use Western Landscaping again for our backyard design. read more

I started this process in October, and it is April and I still don't have an estimate on the work. Worse landscaping company ever! This company does a very poor job in cutting the grass and cleaning up. However this is not the worse part. Almost 3 weeks ago one of their workers damaged our air condition unit. Western Dupage is refusing to pay for our unit and they don't want to make a claim with their insurance company. Wish I could give them No stars. We first contacted them thru their website link as it is the only way to really contact them if you don't have time to call them during regular business hours. No one called me, so three weeks later I called them during the day and they transferred me to one of their designers. We talked, he made an appointment to come out. He never showed up and called later that day and said he had to take the day off. He finally did come out a few days later and was completely disinterested but wrote things down and said he and someone else would be back in a few days to take pictures and measurements. He asked us to email him our plat of survey which we did. Then he said we would have a proposal from them within about 2 weeks. A month went by, they never came out to take pictures or measurements, no response to the email with the plat. I emailed him again and asked if he got our plat and if they were coming back and he just replied "yes, I received your email". that was it, nothing else. I've emailed and called him twice already and no response. It's been over 5 months since I first tried to contact them and still nothing has happened. We have a significant project at our house and their firm is obviously not interested...at least that is the message they send to their potential customers. read more
