We wanted a quiet place, where we could rest and take a load off. Man! Did we ever find a hidden gem! The owners were super nice, as well as the seasonal folks who took us for a quick cart ride to see the Fallen Rock. This year, we wanted to get away for 10 days over the 4th of July weekend. We didn't think long before we remembered how much we loved this campground! They were so accommodating! We had the same spot of our one=night visit last year. We met many more of the seasonal folks, and their dogs (we brought ours with us this time!) We have already make a reservation to go in the fall next year for the covered bridge festival. In closing, this is the nicest, cleanest park we have stayed at to date. The owners have obviously put their hearts into this place. They feel like family. Oh, and they put on a fireworks shows that rivals the ones in DC!

Owner was all over the place making sure everyone was enjoying it. Very close to Turkey Run State park and several major lakes. Bathhouse was always clean. When you order fire wood, they deliver it right to your camp site!! They are very strict about quiet hours so it's very peaceful at night unlike the state campground where people come and go all hours of the night and get loud. They provide great recommendations if you're unfamiliar with the area & have a nice little camp store. They will deliver firewood to you & allow you to borrow basketballs, volleyballs, & corn hole for no charge! Also, they aren't very strict on the parking, as we had 4 cars and it was no problem at all to park the extra in their overflow parking lot. The cabin was super clean, the AC worked great, and the beds were way more comfy than we expected for a campsite. There's a nice picnic table & a fire pit and areas that are shaded. The bathhouse is a bathhouse, so you can't expect much -- but it was one of the cleanest I've been in. It has a heavy door to the front so there aren't many bugs that can get in!

First time being at turkey run state park Beautiful…read morescenery, horse back riding, camping , they even have an inn there with a pool, everything was amazing, went there for a kayak trip down the river and didn't plan anything very well on my side. Just figured that I would just find myself a shuttle service, although I have been kayaking already for about a month or so, I didn't know that they have a season for it and I was about a week to early. No problem I just wasn't able to go kayaking today but I will be back definitely, I'll just have to do better next time. I'm used to self shuttling. Got some cool souvenirs from the gift shop.

Hallelujah! TR Campground was completely full the weekend we visited. At times I felt that maybe we were a little too close to our neighbors, especially the neighbors with 8+ guests. Our site did have some unsavory things leftover from the previous guests(s) (dirty bandaids, dog poop, shoes, a canoe paddle), so the campground really does leave it up to the guests to cleanup after themselves. We were near located near the bathhouse, which was only good for toilets. The Men's and Women's showers were out of order, so I'm not sure what the tent campers did all weekend--I find this to be the most unsavory part of camping. The campground is within walking distance of Turkey Run State Park's Trail 7, which we appreciated. This was an incredibly hoppin' place, so I'd have to recommend it. I'd even recommend visiting during the week so you don't have to deal with as much traffic. The power along State Rd. 42 did go out for a period of time on Saturday afternoon, so that impacted electricity at the campground. Luckily this didn't happen on a super hot day. They have a suggestion box located near the exit of the campground which I should have used. This seems like common sense because they're so pet-friendly, but 20 or so signs saying, "please clean up after your pet" would be nice. Yes, this is outdoor living, but other people don't need to be stepping in your dog's $#!&. I recommend Turkey Run Campground, but you won't catch me camping again anytime soon. :)

I've been here so many times so I can't believe I have neglected to review it. We have done many…read moreday trips for hiking and picnics, and also some camping trips. October is the best time to camp or hike here, the leaves are beautiful and the trails are mostly dry. There are easy trails, moderate trails, and rugged trails. The suspension bridge is fun to cross, although there are 70 steps to climb, and they are fairly steep. It would be nice if a ramp was added for those who can't do steps. Park maps are provided when you enter the park, and most of the trails are fairly well marked. There is one trail that is marked but does not appear on the map, trail 12. Admission fee is only $7 per vehicle.

Our site was a pull through about 75 feet long, but no sewer. Beautifully maintained facility and a bargain at $30. Trees, squirrels, birds singing, a nice playground and enough lawn in the center for a NFL team to practice. Many seasonal sites surrounded by trees. And really nice owners who have their own big rig and understand the business. They have only owned the place for a few years and said it was a sorry affair when they bought it. Well it's nice now and will be spectacular given a bit of time. Bravo!

We camped for one night in this park. It was a great location- close to Rockville- and the staff at…read morethe entry station was really great. We tent camped so we were able to avoid the insanity of the RV spots. Even on a Saturday night, there were tons of tent camping spots. Negative aspects include: Garbage on the ground at our campsite (I guess the mower can't pick up everything); The portapotties in our section were gross and clearly had not been emptied in the entire week after Memorial Day. Money-grab, across the board "reservation" fee that is applied to ALL campers who enter the park, not just those who make a reservation over the phone or online. We drove up and paid for a spot at the last minute and were still charged a "reservation" fee. Just add it onto the park entrance fee why don't ya, if you're going to charge everyone?!? What was an appealing $17 camping fee became a $31 camping fee once the "reservation" and park entrance fees were added up.

What I can tell you is that we went there to visit the swim beach while on vacation nearby. It seems that public pools close for the season after the first week of August in this part of Indiana due to school starting and no lifeguards. My 5 year old wanted to swim so we tried going to the beach at Rockville lake. Paid 7 dollars to get in the park. Went to the beach area which is in a cove off of the main lake. The cove had a lot of algae and the swimming area had a sheen of scum on it. There was a lot of goose feces on the beach and in the shallows of the water. Needless to say, we did not swim. When we asked for a refund due to the conditions at the beach, the managers reply was "you do know this is a lake". I was not given a refund. I really don't care about 7 bucks, but come on, we were there for 15 minutes and didn't use any of the facilities. I have been to many lakes where there is not algae in the swimming area and the beaches are raked regularly so that you can actually use the beach without fear of sitting or stepping in bird feces. I put 1 star because it made me put at least 1 star but really, 0 stars for the beach, negative 5 stars for how the staff treats you. Don't know about the rest of the park.
