My Red Hat ladies group just got home from a wonderful evening of fun & BBQ. It's worth the drive. The staff was absolutely amazing, friendly & knowledgeable. We went on a covered wagon pulled by two beautiful mules. The guides were so informative and we learned so much. Then back for great entertainment, country dancing then a wonderful bbq meal. It's timed so that when you get back from the ride the sun will be setting and you have a beautiful desert sunset photo opt or you can just enjoy God's glorious sky. So unique. I went on a covered wagon pulled by mules. Into the open desert saw nature, walked in it. Staff very pleasant and wore Western clothing and music was country. We all danced. OMGosh! What an AMAZING tour! From the moment we pulled up to the outdoor games to the awesome ride into THE OASIS in the desert!!!! Then back for amazing dance, music, great food and FUN! We went for my BDay and our son's went with us in the early 20's--they had a blast! Bill was so outgoing and nice and runs a First Class operation!!! We had booked about 7 months prior but (my navigation) got us lost:( we missed the tour however, Bill was so accommodating and made sure we were able to go in the future without any price adjustment! Absolutely the best experience! We weren't sure what we were getting into, but this turned out to be a highlight to our trip! Everything about this place was fantastic and well thought out. It starts off with a wonderful mule ride, in a covered wagon to a Palm Grove. Along the way, the host is so knowledgeable and tells you so much information about the area. Once you get to the Palm Grove, it's another learning experience where you get to walk around and explore a short but knowledgeable filled hike. You stand on the actual fault line! Then the mules take you back where you get to do a silly but fun line dance, while a wonderful musician plays the banjo and guitar of all your favorite songs while you eat an amazing dinner. Terrific desert gem! We were greeted by a friendly 'cowgirl' demonstrating her roping techniques. There were games to play while we waited for our covered wagon, which were great fun. Even though we've lived in the desert a long time, we learned some fun facts we didn't know. Square dancing and line dancing were enjoyed by many and the fabulous bbq buffet was excellent. The evening was topped off by the fire pit with marshmallow roasting. All in all, a very fun event with lovely, warm people. Highly recommend it! Bill and his team were wonderful! We felt truly cared for by the friendly folks there. Everyone worked very hard to make everyone feel welcomed! There were a couple of larger tour groups there the night we went who were well taken care of but our small group of 3 were never overlooked nor expected to just blend into the larger group. The team made sure we too felt special and looked after. Our wagon driver Zack told us a lot of interesting tidbits about the mule team and was very personable as we rode out to the palms. Our tour guide really made the tour special with our walk among the palms at dusk. He was very knowledgeable and he really kept us engaged and drawn in. The atmosphere was welcoming and just perfect with the light wood smoke from the fire pit, the great live band and the delicious BBQ meal after the tour. It was a charmingly decorated ranch space with buffalo plaid table cloths, glowing lanterns, games, some barrel tables, etc and well placed stone and landscape lighting pieces that really made you feel festive and relaxed! We listened to the great music and admired the stunning sunset and night sky and there were great photo opportunities everywhere and the views were spectacular. Well worth the trip! Just do it. If you are reading this and deciding if this sounds fun, I assure you will have a fulfilling time. My family group of 16 booked this and I'll admit I was a little hesitant of it being "cheesy". It is far from that. It was actually the highlight of trip from kids to grandparents in our family. This was a really special experience for our whole family to enjoy together on New Year's Eve! From the naturalist who led our covered wagon tour to a local oasis, to the mule driver who drove us there and educated us about the mules, to bill who coordinated everything and added an extra wagon time slot to accommodate our large party, and the incredible band who played back at the campground - everyone really cared about ensuring we all had the best experience. I couldn't have asked for a better experience. If you're going to be in or around Palm Springs, you must definitely participate in this activity. The staff is very friendly, the music is great, and the ride through the palm tree forest with the caravan is truly beautiful. At the end of the ride, we were treated to a fantastic meal. The wagon tour is great. They take you to the Oasis and the tour guide is very informative and has great sense of humor. The kids ran around and had fun. They did find it funny that the tour guy warned them about the many critters and snakes that live in the tree skirts and then let them go explore. After the tour we went back and had a rope, gun twirling and whip show by Judy then the owner (Bill and his wife) taught everyone a fun barn dance. Great live music. We enjoyed a buffet style dinner. We loved the food! We had cole slaw, baked beans, smoked brisket/chicken, a delicious roll followed by pie. I should add that we also had live music during dinner. Once we were done with the pie the kids grabbed skewers and roasted marshmallows on the open flame. Overall we had a GREAT TIME, made friends with the owners, ate a great meal and more importantly we got some much needed time out with the family!! Safety guidelines were followed. AMAZING Time for the whole family! We thoroughly enjoyed the experience from start to finish. From the moment we were welcomed on site, my kids had a blast, starting with all the fun hands-on games and activities: cornhole, huge Jenga, horseshoes, and roping. We had an opportunity to have lemonade, tea or water before setting out on our journey. The staff were friendly at check in. The ride to the oasis was great and we had a guide who pointed out features of the plants and the area. We also learned a little about the mules that pulled the wagon. At the oasis, we were given a chance to walk around and learn about the palm trees. On the ride back, we were given more information about the desert animals. There was wonderful live music, and the musicians taught us a barn dance - which the kids really enjoyed. All the food was absolutely delicious -- the brisket was soooo good and so was the apple pie! The evening ended with roasting marshmallows under the desert sky, but not before we had a beautiful sunset. This was such an amazing experience that my family will remember forever. We come out to the desert and always try something new. So this time we gave this place a try and we had a great time. Sheila our tour guide was fun and knowledgeable. The entire team made us feel at home. Loved the music, the covered tents protected us from the winds and the home made stove / heater kept us warm. The dinner was delicious and generous In portions. Could not recommend this tour any more highly! We had a group of 11 girls for a bachelorette party & we had an absolute blast. From the moment that we arrived, we were greeted by our tour guides & the owners. They offered us refreshments & made us feel right at home. We had a bit of a gloomy rainy day, so were not able to participate in all the fun lawn games that they had set out, but there were lots of them! The inside of the barn could not have been more cozy & welcoming! Our tour guide, Paul, was great! Very knowledgeable about the area & great sense of humor. The tour itself was not terribly long, but that was probably a good thing because we were ready to get back to the barn and eat. The BBQ was phenomenal. Honestly, best chicken I have had. But literally everything they served up was delicious. And the live band was just the cherry on top! They were so fun and led us through a barn dance & a line dance.
