Shortly before Christmas last year we first hired Geer Services to repair the rotten wood in the…read morecorner of the roof of our garage. When they were done, it looked really nice. So when we needed 3 toilets and a kitchen sink faucet installed this month, we hired Geer Services again. The two men who came out to do this work were not on the job very long before I started wondering whether or not they knew what they doing. When they had everything installed they turned the water back on and within minutes I had a one to two inch lake on my entire hardwood kitchen floor. It seems a pipe had come off under the sink. I don't need to tell you the mess and ruin in the family room directly under the kitchen. According to the workman, it wasn't their fault because the place where it came disconnected was lower than where they were working. After they left one of the toilets started leaking from the base onto the floor. I called their office a total of about four times and left three messages. No one answered any on my calls. Several hours later I got a call from them apologizing and telling me they had a medical thing going on. That's fine and I have no problem with that. My problem lies with the fact that they didn't have anyone else manning the phones. They sent the workman back out to fix it. A few days later I had to call them back again because two of the toilets rocked and one kept running because it was leaking water from the tank into the toilet bowl. I was told by the workman that there was nothing they could do about the rocking because of the way the floors lay and that the flanges were too high. As to the toilet running, he said he couldn't hear it running therefore he wasn't able to fix it. We have since called in another company who immediately fixed the leaking toilets, yes a second one started leaking, and said that what my inexperienced husband is doing to fix the rocking is correct. Tonight the kitchen faucet has started dripping, so that's going to need fixed as well. Having gone through all of this we went out to take a closer look at the garage roof. We have a hook hanging on the corner of the portion of roof they fixed to hang our potted flowers. We tried to hang a basket from it and discovered that the wood it is screwed into is rotted. They were supposed to replace all of the rotted wood. Looks like they only half fixed that also.

I'm sure if I'd said it was urgent they'd have tried to come sooner. They came out a week or so after I called to check things out and give me a quote. That guy, Matt, and the later handyman were friendly and efficient. Then another few weeks till they came out. I got the disposal and they installed it, plus added a plug under the sink and fixed the wall switch. Took an hour or so. This is the only handyman our dogs haven't barked at when they got here, and never did. He said he has dogs, but sometimes ours go nuts no matter what, on just hearing or smelling a stranger. The roof took maybe half an hour. Again, professional and efficient. Prices seem a little high to me, but it's been awhile since I hired anyone so this may be the new normal. And I used to be able to do some of this stuff but can't now, so, I have to pay someone sometimes. Worth it to have it taken care of.

So he kept turning it from side to side to wash away soap, tooth paste, etc. Over time, he basically "unscrewed" the faucet. By the time I noticed, I couldn't tell if it was broken or just needed tightening. Gave Shane a call, he asked to send him pics, then replied back with instructions on how to fix things myself. He could've easily come out to my place, then charge a service and labor fee, but he helped me save money... and now I know that what I thought was a part of the fixture is actually a hard-to-reach nut wrench. LOL. Will be giving him a call the next time I have a real job.
