So sad to see this garden center closed down! It was the only location within 30 miles of me where you could get an excellent variety of vegetable starts and their fruit trees were excellent as well. I bought many grafted 2 in 1 and 3 in 1 trees from them. They also had a California natives section where I found many decorative plants for my yard. Smaller nursery, but flowers and plants all looked lively and great. We came to look for some pots, but they didn't have a large selection. Most of the pots were the regular clay colored ones in different sizes. We talked to the cashier about pot styles, and he gave us a lot of tips for the plant we were potting and what pot to use, and it was so helpful! They had a small parking pot, but we had no trouble finding a spot. read more

I just love this shop. It's got absolutely everything I need to keep my lawn and garden beautiful and healthy. I've been in here many times. It's a Must, in my opinion. It's on Second, between Rowland and Puente. From the street, it just looks like a smallish garden center, BUT, travel inside and it's wonderful. They have vegetables, flowers, decor, cactus, pots, etc. At Christmas, they even have Christmas trees!! Some of the things I find very special about this store are: The owners and staff are kind, friendly and very knowledgeable about gardening and plants. The plants are all very healthy. I've never seen a plant that isn't in tip-top health. It's actually fun to shop here, more of an event or outing, not a trip to the store. I always find something fabulous I wasn't looking for. Today, I bought painted rocks, one for me and one for a gift. They are being safe during this pandemic, wearing masks, etc. I truly appreciate them being open, Let's all support our city and keep these special stores open by giving them our business. Nicely located in a business district off of an alley. People that work there are helpful and knowledgeable. They know their plants. However, I purchased 3 shr/vne trees (basically like a soft fir tree), one of which died . DOA :-( At $26.99 a pop plus tax... this is not cheap. Also, the soil that I used on the plant is a loss too. I had asked the man running the show if he had more of these plants coming in. He said in a couple days. I checked back and he said that he would call them and they should be in Saturday. On Saturday he said that they were not in and he would call them. After the 4th time, I just gave up. This is an excellent place to get anything you need as a relates to the garden. In the spring and late winter they have an amazing selection of bare root trees. In addition, they are vegetable selection is excellent. You know you are getting high quality plants unlike the big box store where they are grown in bulk. One of the best things as you can talk to a knowledgeable nurseryman. Every time I have a question or a concern in my garden this is the place I go. Windell he is amazing. The service was wonderful and I believe it was the owner, an older woman, who checked us out. She was very knowledgeable and friendly, and helped us choose some good soil for our plants. I really like this garden center! It's nothing compared to an Armstrong Garden Center. It's a quaint shop with variety. I was in need to eliminating some pests from a few of my plants, and they had lady bugs to help with that situation. Any way to safely rid of pests, I'm down for it. No one needs pesticides on their herbs. They a great variety of plants to offer, from succulents, to veggies, to ornamental plants/shrubs. I've purchased a couple flowering plants to help add color to the front porch and a variety of herbs that have added wonderful flavor to some dishes I've cooked up! What I've really liked, and don't laugh at this, is that I usually go here to purchased the used 1-gallon black nursery pots. They sell them for 25 cents each. When I start off some new plants, I love using these before transplanting to a new larger pot if the plant grows successfully or grow some plants that my neighbors enjoy too. Granted, I have no green thumb. But I've been successful during this down time of being furloughed to grow some fantastic herbs and dragon fruit plants! They also carry some product you may not find at your local garden center at Target or Walmart. I was.looking for a huge back of orchid bark and was not finding it even at our local Home Depot or Lowe's. They had the small bags of around 8 quarts. My dad has about 15 orchids purchasing those small bags would be EXPENSIVE! read more

COOL RARE PLANTS . Checked out Covina Garden center this weekend and here are my thoughts: * Decent selection of common and rare indoor plants. Only placed we've seen a whale fin snake plant but it was $150 so we didn't end up buying * Cool selection of herbs we've never seen. One highlight was the pineapple mint which smelled amazing. * All plants were clearly marked with prices. * Small selection on succulents * Parking on premise We will definitely be coming back to check out their rare plant selection. read more

Covina Garden Center is a very nice, well organized, clean and joyful place. I went for the first time with my daughter and my husband to buy plants and flowers. The place has a lot of gorgeous plants, the prices are cheap compared to many garden center in the area. I love the ponds,I took several pictures of the colored fish and the turtles. I wish I could wear sunscreen, so I could stay longer time in the garden center. The people who run the place are super nice and they can provide you with information about the plants. Recently, we visited this wonderful gem of a nursery. We've been to many large type nurseries and garden centers before, so this was definitely a different experience because we got a lot of one on one help. We met the owner's brother, who gave us a lot of advice and gave a lot of suggestions! they are very welcoming and friendly at this place. If there is a plant that you're looking for, you can give them a call and have them order it! I will definitely be coming back to this location to get my plans going forward. I stopped by here the other day to check out what plants were available late December. I found lots of newly delivered bare root berries and some fruit trees. The selection was great. I really appreciated the friendly service as well - the one person working there was happy to answer all my questions. Prices seemed reasonable. The nursery itself isn't huge but enough to have a good mix of edible seasonal veggies, landscaping, indoor plants, and a few fruit trees. Everyone who worked here seemed very nice as they interacted with other customers. The selection was pretty good for a smaller place! Plants appeared healthy. The reason I docked 2 stars was the cost. I am big on gardening year round and go to A LOT of nurseries. I'm always excited to check out a new spot. The prices here were surprisingly high. It was to the point I took pictures of a couple plants I liked, so that I would remember to buy them somewhere else! I called everywhere to find honey bear dwarf peach trees and no luck. My very good friend told me to call Wendell and if he has them, he will hold them for me. I was so happy he had a few left and he held them for me until I could get there the next day after work. I was greeted by Wendell as soon as I walked in and when I told him my name he said right away "oh hi, I have your peach trees for you". From now on this will be my nursery, it worth the drive and since I had gotten there close to their closing time, I felt a little rushed and Wendell said a few times, take your time and look around. He recommended a few other products I inquired about and was happy to go get them at the checkout. This place is fantastic, Wendell is the nicest guy and so knowledgeable. I love this nursery and I've been coming here since I moved to West Covina. The staff is always friendly and helpful and I love all the plants so much. It would be a 5 star all the way, but the last 2 plants I just got from there over the last weekend both had bugs, two different types of infections. One mealy and one thrips. Prior to this experience before last weekend I've never gotten a plant that had any issues whatsoever. I've dealt with my fair share of infestations so I'm not worried about fighting them off, but it is really discouraging at first to discover your plant is infested. Small to medium size nursery with friendly, knowledgeable staff. Prices are reasonable, not the cheapest but the flowers and plants are obviously healthy and well taken care of, strongly colored and upright. There's a nice selection of harder to find trees, shrubs, herbs, vegetables, succulents, flowers, and a wall of seed packets. There's also a small selection of roses. There's plenty of gardening products like perlite, pumice, vermiculite, manure, soils, fertilizers, etc. Terra cotta pots are pretty cheap here! I bought perlite, strawberries 6 pack, and blueberry branch from them. The strawberries are fruiting nicely and the blueberry branches has big berries ready to be picked. Perlite cost about 7 or 8$ for I think 12 quarts? But they have bigger sizes of many products for a better deal. Overall would return for the healthy plants. Notes: small amount of parking, aisles kind of narrow, no credit card minimum but takes at least 20 seconds for it to go through. read more

We learned so much from these sweet couple. They dont have the citrus trees I want and they told me it's because the diases that's going around with citrus trees. But they still patiently answered many of my questions about all sorts of stuff. Like how to choose roses, HH ow to measure the water and how to fetilize properly.... I have lots of questions because we have killed many indoor and outdoor plants. We love how passionate they are and how dedicated they are too. Definitely worth a visit. read more

I would give 4.5 stars but that's not an option. Pretty much my favorite garden center. Beats out any commercial retailer I know because I trust the source of their plants. I'm not a fan of Monsanto and most big factory farming companies so I don't like to use their plants or soil. Covina Garden Center has plants and supplies other than Monsanto and miracle grow. I'm more of an edible garden type of person so that's why I like to choose healthy plants and CGC takes care of their plants! Everything I get from here looks healthy and ends up growing well. I just wish they had a bit more selection for vegetables. I would like more leafy greens and edible flowers! They have a good selection of tomatoes and herbs. read more

I needed some sod seed and found it and waited 10 minutes to be ringed up. The cashier was not pleasant and said nothing. She too busy to help with anything or any question. I would advise you go to another nursery if you need customer service and sod. In conclusion, they should help customers and not make them wait. read more

Super helpful staff! We stopped by to look around and walked out with $70 which included three different dahlias and a peach tree. Staff was very helpful and gave us tips to keep our new plants lookin vibrant. I'm so happy leaving here with both my grandparents completely in love with their new plants and how to properly take care of them.
