Here today for the Cheerios Challenge 5K/10K & 1 Miler. First time visitor at the YMCA. First off weather was fantastic for a race ‍. There were at least 500 runners in attendance. I ran the 5K it was a great run through the community and back to the Y. I did not hang around for the 10AM ceremony but I walked around and checked out the vendors. Great food, music and people. I did check out the entrance of the Y during check in yesterday but didn't do a full tour. From what I observed, it's well maintained. Equipment, Restrooms and lobby were clean. I can say they will need a new building soon as the town is growing . I plan to run next year for the same race and possibly other races throughout the year. read more

If you're looking for a small-town feel place to work out where you don't feel like you are just riding an overwhelming wave of people in to the cardio machines through the weights and then back out the door, this is the place for you. Yes, it's small and could definitely use an expansion to accommodate the growth Covington is going through and attract more people. The core/stretching area could use a little bit of love, maybe a fresh coat of paint, reorganizing and some new mats. However, the showers and restrooms are the cleanest of any Y I have ever been in (and I've seen quite a few) the gym area is clean, they have a good selection of equipment which is well maintained, and have plenty of classes. The gym floor/cardio area is never too crowded. The staff are friendly and polite, and I have been very pleased with the quality of their childcare. A solid 4 out of 5 stars! read more

I love the community at the Covington YMCA! The members are friendly, funny, helpful, and knowledgeable about the area; they are the best part of the membership. There is a wide variety of classes for people at all levels of fitness and fitness goals. I have found classes that suit me, and I have learned a lot from my classes especially the LIFE (low impact fitness exercise) class. The facility is organized, and it does have an inclusive feel. The gym appears to be more than adequate, but I have used the classes much more than I have used the equipment. If I had one suggestion for management it would be to at least acknowledge feedback. I commented to a front desk staff about a class (by a substitute) that was less that well conducted and the response to me was "everybody loves XXX." So, on the receiving end of that I hear that they do not care about my opinion. That is not best practice for serving the public. Other than that, you can't keep me away! read more
