My husband has always wanted to try this place because someone told him it was good. It isn't All-American food, it's food made in Wyoming, USA very poorly. 2.5 stars because they have a clean bathroom, paper towels, but after we got our food our waitress never reached out to us. She passed us over and over when we were obviously ready to pay and leave and didn't ask how our order came out. It was well done and i asked for med rare. I'm pretty sure i got someone else's meat, but she never came back and that was frustrating, especially since the butter premelted tasted off and ruined my pancake. we walked out and my husband who loves everything said, "Ya....one and done! my burger didnt taste good and they give you 10 french fries. " If you havent eaten here. I do NOT reccomend anything where they ask you, "How do you like it?" it doesn't matter, it's coming out over cooked as hell and zero salt, sugar, ANYTHING that would make it taste edible. saying the word bland doesn't come close. you're in the middle of nowhere and hungry? suck it up and go to Rock Springs. read more

Food was ok not spectacular. Chicken fried steak was burned on one side , tasted doughy. They cooked it at a to high of heat. English fries tasted like bland. Portions are huge , but I prefer quality over quantity. I would comeback and try something different. I love a crispy chicken fried steak, and got a soggy mess. Please DO NOT eat here. My husband & I ate here the other night due to desperation @ being stuck in this town. The place is NOT clean or sanitary ( we're not that picky, btw) we both woke up the next morning with severe diarrhea. My husband 2 days later is still sick. The place should be closed down. Bad bad Yelp! DON'T follow directions!!!!! they lead to dirt rutted road that leads to nowhere!!! After getting off dirt road and back at I80, we found the cafe. We had the Buffalo burgers...yum. Sadly, they didn't have salad but my husband said the beer battered fries were really good. I'm low-carbing so I had tomato slices with ranch dressing. The ranch was very good. For a cafe in the middle of nowhere. It's a hidden gem. Don't let the outside fool you, or the over priced gas station down the street... you've obviously have been driving for awhile and you came on this not to hit up a franchise fast food place. The inside is open and welcoming, the staff is small but try their best to meet your needs, I didn't have a problem like a previous poster. Menu is simple with a special on the wall. Price was very well worth the food. I had the spegetti... only because I'm tired of burgers and sandwhiches. Garden salad was well put together and the homemade ranch was amazing. Ordered the homemade pie... very flavorful but... I prefer mine flaky... but definately amazing for a middle of no where cafe. I definately recommend stopping in if you're passing through. read more

Cozy little cafe on the side of I-80. It may look a little rough around the edges from the outside, but inside is very spacious with plenty of tables and nice western decor. Easy on and off from the interstate. I was welcomed when I walked in the door by a very nice young lady. She and another very pleasant woman came by about every five minutes asking if everything was ok, if we needed refills or anything else. The food was fresh and it was served quickly. I had the chicken fried steak (that took up most of medium size platter), with mashed potatoes and steamed veggies. The meal also came with a cup of soup, todays soup was clam chowder. It was very tasty and hit the spot and took the chill out of this 10° weather. There are daily specials as well. The menu has more than enough selections. I'm certain that even the pickiest non-vegan eater will find something they like and all at a very reasonable price. Side note: They have the biggest variety of potatoes I've ever seen. Even some I've never heard of. This is definitely meat & potato country. read more

Rarely do restaurants that look like this on the outside rate a solid 4 stars. It doesn't even look like a restaurant....more like a run down commercial building that someone put a "cafe" sign on the roof. If you don't believe me, look at the pics. I figure there are only three ways you would find this place....have the yelp app, be a local or know a local. I was torn between ordering the taco salad or the grilled chicken salad. The waitress said she preferred the grilled chicken. My hubby ordered the special. The food was a little slow in coming to the table but I think there was only one cook. Great salad. Romaine lettuce, radishes, shaved carrots, a couple of different sliced cheese and grilled chicken. I really appreciated the perfectly hard boiled egg. You know the kind...a perfectly yellow yoke and no grey lining. If you didn't know the grey is caused by over cooking. The blue cheese dressing was good and there were some big chunks of blue cheese in the dressing. Hubby liked the special which was 2 sausage patties, 2 scrambled eggs, 2 stripes of bacon and 2 fluffy pancakes. Hubby is a big eater but even he couldn't finish everything. So....we were traveling....in Wyoming. We checked Yelp...and were directed to Cowboy Cafe. Some of you said not to be put off by the outward appearance, right you were! The inside has free wifi for guests, ample seating, nice decor, a tv mounted on one wall. Who knew? My husband and I both had the chicken fried steak. It was very good. Cooked well, gravy very tasty not too greasy...gotta be a little greasy, its gravy!!! Husband had the pub chips, he was delighted, never had potatoes with that type of crispy breading over the small cut potatoes. Bravo for the homemade soup. Pie was available, but no appetite left to be satiated. To sum it up, five stars. Great food, excellent service. People doing great job, give them a try. read more

Been to this place many times. If you come in here wearing a cowboy hat, boots, old worn out jeans, and a crappy old button up shirt with a bolo tie you will fit in just fine. All the locals really must think they are cowboys. Makes you wanna sidle up to the counter and ask for a whiskey. They probably would give you one. I ordered the eggs and sausage along with hashbrowns and a pancake. Absolutely delicious along with homey service. I ordered my eggs over-medium, they came over-easy. The sausage was well seasoned, hashbrowns weren't soggy and had a perfect golden crunch. The pancake had a sweet natural flavor to it and was insanely fluffy. We needed breakfast to continue the second leg of our move westward. Having lived in Green River for several years (several years ago), we somehow missed this place. It is quaint and homey, everything you'd expect at Wyoming diner to be. The menu selection is varied, and there are several specials listed at the counter, where we sat. It was aptly named, as we were the only people in the place without a cowboy hat and boots. The service was very friendly. I had a French dip (for breakfast - I love a place that lets me order lunch for breakfast). It was decent. The beef was a bit too fatty and grisly for my taste, but that's okay. It was a generous portion, and my dog enjoyed what was left. My husband had the standard breakfast and enjoyed it. The Cowboy Cafe is a decent place to have some local breakfast while on the road. I'm not sure why there are so many bad reviews here but, Cowboy Cafe is the best breakfast you will find in the Bridger Valley! Arguably the best American food in the valley. We go here for breakfast quite frequently and the food is always good! One of the only restaurants that I actually enjoy the chicken fried steak! Their green chilli is really tasty, most restaurants really fall short in the green chilli department. Service is a touch hit or miss, depends on the waitress. Have had lunch here one time and it was equally good. The Taco salad is HUGE! Good food, good service and unbeatable prices (my family of 5 can have breakfast here for around $30)! read more

Positively lousy and overpriced. Waited 20 min to get a spoon and creamer for my coffee. Brought my breakfast and no toast. The toast arrived after about 20 min and was stone cold and hard. Waitress did not check for coffee refills, sausage patties were overcooked, and the size of a .50 cent piece. Out of bacon and service was slowwwww. Get yourself a great breakfast. Much better than eating an energy bar or day old donut sitting in the car while you wind down the 80. The servers were real nice and good was good 'ol comfort food. We really enjoyed our stop on an 18 hour drive and we highly recommend this place! They have pellet ice (delicious!) and the sweet tea was fantastic. We had the Reuben and the Tuna salad special.
