I wish I could give zero stars. This is the worst business I've ever delt with. I tried to cancel my service awhile back and they said I was still in a contract. So I continued to pay even though I already switched to ATT. Now it's been over a year, and I went to cancel again and she says I'm still in my contract. Apparently, it automatically renews every year. So now I have to wait until the end of the year to cancel. Meanwhile, I'm paying $178 per month. What a joke!! DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THESE PEOPLE. The worst service. My bill has gone up $100 a month in 2 years without notification. When I went to cancel the service they told me that my contract automatically renews and "they are currently in control". Their business model is based on controlling their customers. One day in early November, I began getting calls about my AWS website being unreachable. All the callers had one thing in common -- they were Cox Business customers. A few phone calls later, the call that solved the case was from a customer who told me Cox was blocking my site due to malicious activity. What?! Of course, I want to investigate the accusation and remediate the source of the activity. I reached a cooperative, sympathetic ear, and thought the case was on the way to a quick resolution. Nope! No follow-ups, no answers, no further communication whatsoever. Dead silence. And most importantly, no evidence to support Cox's claim of malicious activity. Find a different provider. read more

Technicians are great, and customer service tries, but account issues are difficult to resolve. Many billing errors, and even after disconnecting service, Cox will continue to bill. I have a very small business. The only internet service available to my little office space was cox business, so I paid exorbitant amounts for service. I just got evicted from my office building, all the tenants did, so I found a new little office where wifi is included. When I called Cox Business to discontinue service I was informed that due to the year left on my three year contract I owed over $900. That's more than I pay in rent. The thing that goes down is the service which constantly goes down. They transferred my Email to Everymail.com which has no address, no phone number, and no other way to contact them. Very disappointed. After being a loyal business customer for over 15 years, I plan on closing my office in about 18 months. Rather than give me the same rate that I have been paying for my 2-year contracts, they forced me down to the 1-year rate (more costly) or I would have to sign for the full 2-years. I requested a dispensation with my account rep, and she said she had to go through legal. I wouldn't have thought that was a big deal, but ok, whatever. MY DISAPPOINTMENT: She told me that she could issue me a gift certificate as a workaround. The gift certificate never arrived and no one from "legal" or anyone else ever responded to me despite numerous emails to my account rep and the people she copied in on her email. We use Cox at my private personal training gym primarily to play music through our iPad. The WiFi is very unreliable, as it goes down multiple times a day, almost as if it is scheduled to go out. The music stops playing when the WiFi is out, which throws off the entire vibe of the gym and it's very unfortunate. I will be finding a new WiFi and internet provider ASAP unless Cox can help me solve this issue. read more

Cox Communications seemed like a reputable business when I became one of its subscribers, but the fact it was not able to make the internet accessible today (04/05/23) in my area of San Diego for over ten hours is disgraceful. There is no excuse for the kind of inefficient service that has kept the internet out of reach for so many people for so long who desperately needed it. We purchased services from another provider, and called to cancel our Cox Business services (phone, internet) on March 1st, 2022. Today is June 20th, 2022 and Cox has still not processed our cancellation, and charges continue to accrue in our account. It took 3 phone calls to get a call back from an Account Manager, who still cannot cancel our services. On the 3rd call I had to insist that I would not get off the phone until I was helped by a manager. Nothing else would have gotten me service to even start the process of cancellation. The net result here is that Cox's treatment of our business has been highly unusual and certainly illegal. My attempts to cancel services have been prevented at every turn to extract additional fees and bill me for services I no longer wish to receive. my boyfriend used cox business in his building for 35 years and decided to use cox business service at his house , he sold his building and called cox business 2 years ago to canceled the service at his house, they kept telling him that somebody was going to call him back, never happened, so I took the cox cable modem and sent it back to them and they still didn't disconnect the service and kept taking the money out his debit card until the debit card expired, after taking more than 1,500 dollars out of his account!, they had the nerve to take this matter to collections!!!! Cox Business engages in unfair business practices including very long and convoluted contracts with many definitions which are very difficult to understand. The most abusive clauses are the "ETF" or early termination fees, which essentially are 100% of the contract duration. What you don't see is the "automatic renewal" and 30 day cancellation precedent to renewal clauses that bind you FOREVER! If you order Cox fiber at $300 per month and the contract date is one year, in year two if you want to cancel--you just pay them an additional $3,600 plus the cost of porting any phone lines you have with them. When their business manager tells you via email that any additional feature is "co-terminus" to the contract termination, what they mean is they will charge you the full price of any remaining contract term once you cancel. This is an outrageous bait and switch horror story that now is out of control, with Cox demanding $8,000 in cancellation fees for services they no longer provide. COX SHAME ON YOU! read more

Lately every day that my cable box updates I have issues and I have to chat with Cox.  On Monday March 6th my box updated at the usual time 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. and never worked again.  I did the usual unplug wait, plug back in, still no results.  Called Cox the automated system rebooted it was unsuccessful.  My first chat was with Tashane H. who also couldn't get the box to work and told me.  Per Tashane H.  I could exchange the boxes free of charge.  However because I don't pay for a cloud DVR box all of my recordings would be lost.  The other alternative is to have a tech come out and check the equipment at a charge of $75.  In the middle of my response Tashane H. ended  the chat! Started chat again with Devontha R.  who also stated there would be a $75 charge to have the tech come out and check my equipment.  I find out returning the boxes free of charge means I have to go to a Cox store and exchange boxes.  Asked that the boxes be mailed to me with a return label.  Per Devontha R.  he doesn't think that is possible but we'll get a tech in the chat.  What all these hours I haven't been dealing with an actual tech!  I actually called Cox and got one of the rudest tech ever she obviously didn't come to work to work and unfortunately I can't remember her name.  She basically told me they don't mail out boxes they certainly don't do return labels.  Yes if a tech  comes out to check our equipment there will be a charge of $75.  The easiest way to handle this is for me to unplug all boxes and return them to any cox or UPS store.  Let the check know I have no car no means of transportation and  pre-covid Cox would mail their customers boxes.  For the tech know that is not true they never done it.  I pay over $300 a month for cable when I asked for a credit she gave me $6.  Since I wasn't willing to pay the $75 and I have no transportation we both went silent on the line.  Ended call.  Cox customer service is robotic.  Cox employees don't come to work to work cuz nobody wants to do their job.  Their equipment is shoddy temperamental they could care less, and put the onus on the customer to get new working boxes.  Unreal! read more

I've had bad experiences with cox years ago but I have to say during the pandemic and now they have been a life saver! Price point for the best broadband is great. I still have to homeschool my son and my promotion ended, but they gave me a great deal for another year without even having to call. Who does that. Horrible customer service. I have had an account with them for 17 years. Because one of my employees somehow put it under their email as a contact years ago, I can't get into the account. It is my company and I have signed all the contracts. Now I needed to change my payment method because the old card expired and they won't let me and said Im not primary on the account. It's my account. I'm the only one who has been paying their exorbitant bills for the last 17 years. They want me to send my original articles of incorporation and a business license and fill out a bunch of paperwork to be able to pay them every month. What a bunch of idiots. The first phone call to customer service lasted two hours & finally I was transferred to a woman who could not speak English, so I had to hang up. Today I tried again. We moved our offices and Cox Business could not provide Fiber Internet to our new building hence we cancelled service after several years with them. Cox continues to charge us monthly fees with late charges when they could not deliver services. I am a new business and absolutely need internet since I am a e-commerce business, well they schedule a time , and the cox contractor shows up, well he couldn't do a connection cause it's Fiber-optic , SO .... he said that they would call me and schedule a cox tech to come by and do the install.... I received a call after I was already home (2pm) and when I received the msg they were saying the had a tech available and he would be at my shop at 3pm, so I drop everything and go back to my shop, at 5:20pm I start calling to see what's up: Well after 2 customer service guys hang up on me ("transfer me") I finally found a nice guy that actually looked into what happened. Well there was a massive miss communication internally and nobody was scheduled to show up..... And that is the problem with companies now a days, absolutely no customer service .. Internet is very slow and expensive in our location on our speed tests, we have had techs out/ multiple phone support calls for issues, and they locked us into a 3 year contract for our small business. It was very misleading how this contract works they do not tell you up front that you are required to pay your entire remaining balance on your contract if you need to cancel, even if your business closes. and it is also not written on the 1.5 page contract anywhere that has a typed docusign style signature on it. We have 1.5 years left on our contract and multiple representatives have told me to pound sand. I have cancelled internet at least a dozen times in my life and have never come across this issue. they took advantage of my wife who runs a women owned small business that has survived COVID. I could not say anything good about my experience with cox Business. I will not be renewing my contract and will never use them again for our small Business. They hung up the phone on customer service when I finally got ahold of them and when they tried 3 different things and it didn't work each time they just hung up on me. I work remotely and rely on a good stable and consistent internet connection to work. Every morning when I go to login to work our internet is down. Every freaking morning. We talk to the customer service and they literally are no help. They say to reset your modem. When that doesn't work they say oh you need a new modem, got a new modem and still doesn't work. Come to find out it's just their horrendous service that is down. So I waste a whole day trying to fix their problem, waste 200 dollars on a modem that didn't fix the problem. This is literally the worst service. Why am I paying for internet that is more down than up? Not to mention I now have to drive an hour into the office because Cox can't provide the service they advertise. Avoid at all costs. I will tell everyone I know to never use cox.
