I have had my implant done here and had a great experience! I brought my boyfriend here to get his implant done as well. Before we were going to start this process, We signed up and got him insurance, I'm no expert on insurance, but I know how to read and I read that extractions were covered immediately not 100% but 80% of it would be covered. During our consultation with the office they told me his insurance would not cover the extraction or anything needed at this time. I felt a little dumb but played it off like I'm not insurance expert. I knew it wouldn't cover anything else but kept reading extractions were covered. We have him scheduled for the bone graft this upcoming Friday, well last Wednesday he started having terrible pain, by Friday he was going to rip this tooth out of his head and this office was closed those three days for the holidays. So I had to get him in to get the tooth pulled somewhere else that Friday, lo and behold the lady At this dental office came back saying Oh, your insurance does cover the extractions up to 80% so all you owe is $60 today.. I thought to myself wow so Dr. Cannon's office must've not even checked.. Fast forward to today I call to explain what happened and when do we need to come back in for a bone graft?.. She rudely tells me on the phone oh, we're not going to just cut him back open and do a bone graft. He'll have to do that when he gets the implant... I have no idea what that means and I just sit in silence on the phone because I'm thinking to myself is that not the next step for the implant because that's what you were going to do on Friday is pull the tooth and put a bone graft in and that bone graft has to heal for a certain amount of time.. I expressed to the girl on the phone that I don't know what that next step means and she seemed to not even care to talk to me about it or explain anything to me, because she absolutely did not. And at this point, the receptionist, both of them alone have put such a bad taste in my mouth. I've decided to not use this office at all.. So moving forward, double check your insurance because they're just gonna try to charge whatever they want, without checking your insurance. And they do not have good customer service.. At all. I'm about to spend THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS here and you're going to act like I'm a problem questioning what is being done? i dreaded everytime I had to call because of how they made me feel. One is more nice than the other but still both not willing to actually help your problems on the phone. Dr. Cannon and the girls in the back are great, But the receptionist just lost Having us as patients here. And when they read this, they probably won't even care just like how they made me feel on the phone. Hope this helps someone who isn't financially well off and made to feel dumb by this office. You're not the only one!

The dentist came in immediately and painfully injected her, as planned, with a second anesthetic, and started his procedure. The assistant then agreed that the nitrous oxide was off. On July 17th (the next day), after discussion with the office manager, since they would not let me talk to the denist, she agreed not charge me for the gas. I asked for a bill, which was sent to me. That bill showed a $495 credit. 2. Regarding that credit, my wife was told on the day of the procedure that we would receive a check for the difference. Although I expected a charge card credit, we did not receive a check or a charge card credit. I called on August 20th, 2024 to inquire about the refund. I was told it would be sent "within 30 days from today". Since this was now som 35 days after the procedure and a complete billing cycle, I want everyone to know that they will not issue ANY refund until you call them. 3. Nothing was a pleasant experience, whereas our regular dentist has a pleasant comforting demeanor through his entire office. Poor "bedside" and poor atmosphere.

The consultation went fine, although I felt Dr. Spann seemed a bit cocky and barely looked in my mouth. The nurse staff had a weird sorority vibe around him, but everyone was very nice and I moved ahead with the surgery. Before I was taken into the operating room I discussed my medication allergies with the nurse (I only have two, one being amoxicillin, which makes me break out in horrible hives). They explained the procedure to me and asked if I had any concerns. I said not really, only that I have a birth control implant in my left arm, and therefore would prefer to have the anesthesia IV in my right arm. She said that was perfect and we made our way to the surgery room. We had yet another conversation about my implant during the walk down the hall, and I demonstrated how you can feel in through my skin. I laid down for surgery and a mask was put over my face, the laughing gas caused me to drift away and I heard them talking about putting the IV in. I felt the nurse touching my left arm and was jerked awake as she tied the rubber tourniquet directly over my implant in my left arm!! It felt as though it was pushed through my skin. I was able to say "not the left one," then heard her say "oh right, oops!" and I was pulled under. My boyfriend drove me home and went back out to get my antibiotics and pain pills. When he returned, the antibiotic they had prescribed me was amoxicillin! I told him I was very allergic and I went back to sleep. It took him about three hours to get everything sorted out with the pharmacy and nurses at COFS (who simply said "oops" again about the mistake). Because of this careless mix up I wasn't able to take my full rounds of antibiotics my first recovery day. Following the surgery in October, my arm felt consistently sore and uncomfortable. My period had began a few days before the surgery and didn't stop until the beginning of February. I was finally able to get an appointment with my gynecologist, suspecting that the nurse had in fact damaged the Nexaplon implant. It was removed yesterday, bent and creased. My gynecologist said that's not something that happens, and was surely a result of this nurse ignoring me. I understand mistakes happen, but I felt I wasn't listened to at all by these medical "professionals," and that they were only going through the motions of the job. Also, six whole weeks after the surgery, my chin and lips were still numb. I understand nerve damage can happen in this procedure, and my nerves did slowly repair and feeling has returned, but it made me wonder what other mistakes occurred while I was unconscious...

I had an absolutely outstanding experience with Shallowford Family Dental Group…read more Last week during a routine cleaning, I had mentioned ahead of time that I was experiencing some pain. Because of that, Dr. Ankar actually came in on his day off specifically to evaluate what was going on. During that visit, he identified issues developing around two fillings I already had and made sure I was scheduled quickly to get everything taken care of. Today's visit was just as seamless. They are incredibly respectful of your time. The wait is minimal, they run on schedule, and you're not left sitting around wondering what's going on. That level of consideration alone sets them apart. From the moment you walk in, the tone is set perfectly. Tracie at the front desk is consistently warm, welcoming, and genuinely kind. On the way out, she made sure everything was handled smoothly, and it's honestly refreshing to experience that level of customer service when so many places have let that standard slip. Megan was absolutely phenomenal. She has such a calming presence and takes the time to explain everything in a way that actually makes sense. You can tell she truly cares about the patient experience, not just going through the motions. Her attention to detail, her professionalism, and the way she makes you feel completely at ease genuinely elevate the entire visit. She's a huge part of why the experience feels so comfortable and positive. Dr. Ankar, as always, was exceptional. He's steady, reassuring, and clearly very skilled. Everything was handled efficiently, and I felt completely confident in his care from start to finish. What means the most to me is this: I've been a patient here since 2017, and before that, I went nearly 19 years without seeing a dentist. I was absolutely terrified my entire life of going. Walking into that first appointment at 42 years old, I carried a lot of fear and embarrassment with me. From that very first visit, Dr. Ankar and his team completely changed that for me. Not once have I ever been made to feel ashamed. Instead, they made me feel comfortable, respected, and genuinely cared for. I'm 51, and that fear I carried for decades? Gone. Because of them, I don't dread going to the dentist anymore... I actually look forward to it!

Yesterday, my husband took our kids to the dentist, where they have been patients for close to 5…read moreyears. However, our daughter had become increasingly anxious about going and no longer enjoyed it., which is understandable since going to the dentist isn't fun for most people. At the dentist's office, parents aren't allowed to accompany their kids during appointments (which I wasn't a fan of). Nonetheless, since our older son was with her, we decided to go along with it. Our daughter voiced her concerns about getting fluoride treatment due to its taste and texture making her feel sick; therefore as her parents, we made an informed decision not get it this time around. Upon arrival, my husband checked in both children and let them know that our daughter wouldn't be receiving fluoride treatment. They took the kids back to begin their cleaning. At some point the hygientist tells the dentist that we declined the fluoride treatment for our daughter and why, he tells her to see if she will try a different fluoride but NOONE came out to talk to my husband to see if that would be ok (MISTAKE #1) the hygienist then asks my daughter if she will try this other fluoride, she says no. The hygienist then continues to try to talk her into it and pursued her which is then causing her to get upset, rightfully so. When her attempts fail she gets the other hygienist to make an attempt so now there are 2 adult women trying to convince a child to try something that her father had said no to and that she had said no to ( MISTAKE #2) all of this caused our son anger and he finally spoke up and said "she said no. Stop" only then did they stop and one of them looks at our son and says "I'm sorry don't be mad at me" and then asks "is your sister just sensitive" upon bringing the kids out they simply tell my husband that they asked our daughter if she wanted to try the other fluoride and she got upset so they didn't do it the rest wasnt learned until later when our son told us what really happened. When I found out about this, the office was already closed so I called first thing this morning to voice my concerns and let them know I was pulling my kids from that dentist because of it. The office manager was very apologetic and assured me she'd discuss this with everyone and asked if I'd be ok with the Dentist calling me. I said yes. The dentist later calls me but honestly did not help the situation. Though he did apologize it felt like he also tried to justify the incident by comparing it to when parents get their kids to try vegetables because it's good for them and also told me how great his hygienist are. I told him we wouldn't be back because of the situation which also doesn't seem like it will be addressed. The dentist then tells me if we ever need to come back in the future they would be happy to take care of us and I don't need to feel embarrassed. It was at this moment where I just ended the call. I say all of this to say when a child says No regarding their body in anyway at all that's final the conversation ends there. Period.
