    Birria Tacos

Ordered the birria taco and the paella. Started with cocktails of frozen mango margaritas and a raspberry margarita. The tacos was filled with tender stewed beef and the consimme was great for dipping. The paella was flavorful and had a fair amount of protein. I would have liked it if there was a crust on the bottom. We order the churros which came with ice cram and filled with dulce de leche. We asked for coffe and that was the only disappointment. It came out lukewarm and asked for a new pot of coffee. They then came out with the coffee we sent back but warmed up. We rejected that and asked for a new pot. It came out hotter but equally bland and insipid. Other than the color of the liquid, I would not have known I was drinking coffee. Took a sip and left it.

My family was in the area from out of town and decided to try it on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated right away. It's quaint and cutely decorated. The complimentary chips and dip were delicious. We shared the guacamole and it was fresh and yummy. Both of my kids had the steak quesadilla which came with refried beans and rice. I had the trio's enchiladas and my husband had the tres amigos. Everything was delicious and the meals were big enough to bring home for later. Will return if I'm in the area again!

After a long day performing at the Mahiawe Theatre in Great Barrington, MA I was exhausted and rolling home when I found this gem. A quick GPS search for Mexican turned up only one spot out in the middle of nowhere. As I rolled along I thought to myself "This will either be a dud or it will be amazing." The latter turned out to be the case much to my delight. Out of a modest country road where one doesn't expect to be a restaurant a fiesta of color, cool vibes and no traditional seating appeared. The staff were friendly and I was served by a full team. The menu was wide ranging and the food was delicious. The tamal was excellent. Firm and soft, nice flavorful sauce with floating cheese as a welcome garnish. The taco trio was tasty (the pork carnitas a bit on the dry side but a squeeze of lime and their excellent green salad helped). I saw happy customers all over. I regret not getting the tacos al birras (succulent braised beef with dipping jus). Perhaps next time?

Solid Mexican and Tex-Mex food, okay margaritas (but good for the price). There are plenty of good vegetarian options, which was a nice surprise. Also, the fajitas proportions are awesome -- lots of the "good stuff" filling with little cups of rice/beans/sour cream/guac, plus a pile of small flour tortillas. They're served in a neat metal contraption to hold all the parts. Service is friendly, if a bit slow.

One of the worst Mexican places I have been to. The food was gross and bland and the service was not good. I ordered the tacos and they came with tortillas and meat. That's it! Not tomatoes, no lettuce, no salsa, nothing! The meat was not what I ordered. I ordered the ground beef, chicken, and steak, and instead of steak I got pork which was fatty and flavorless. The meat was dry and had no flavor. I wouldn't come back to this restaurant

My husband and I love the Flaco - it's awesome to have in our tiny town. They have great veggie options and the spicy margarita is awesome!!

One of the worst meals of my life, Mexican or otherwise. The service was very sweet and nice, but the food: oy vey. Don't bother.

"We don't have a cocktail menu, but we can make anything you'd like."…read more That was one of the first things our server told us, and honestly, it was refreshing. These days, it feels like every bar has a cocktail menu full of creatively named drinks that require reading a list of ingredients just to figure out what you're ordering. At Governor's Tavern, if you want a gin and tonic, you simply ask for a gin and tonic. The only decision you need to make is which gin you'd like. I'm not much of a cocktail person, but I appreciate that not every place feels the need to reinvent the wheel. The place was packed at lunchtime, but we got lucky and grabbed a pair of seats across from the bar. The server who I quoted was genuinely friendly and welcoming. I ordered a Guinness, but unfortunately the keg had just kicked. She recommended the Samuel Smith chocolate stout instead and even brought me a sample before I committed to taste since I never heard of it, which was a nice touch. For food, we ordered the State Grill burger and the Nashville Hot chicken sandwich. Both were excellent, and each came with Belgian-style hand-cut fries. If you're spending the day browsing the boutiques and antique shops along Warren Street and want a drink, a good meal, and a lively mix of locals and tourists, Governor's Tavern is worth a stop.

Shared an OG Chicken Sandwich $13. It was buttermilk fried chicken with tomato and lettuce on a roll. Sandwich was pretty tasty. Service was just average. Otherwise, I would've given it four stars. Only a few people appear to have ordered food here. Basically, the place appears to be a watering hole. Only app.metered parking in the area.

A tale of 4 breweries…read more So we tried to visit the brewery (#1) across the street for a flight and some food. It closed at 4, then we were going to have a beer at Return (#2) which opened at 4. The first place closed early (before 3:30pm), so we had some time to check out another spot (#3) a bit of a drive away. (5 min). The other place seemed fine, but since my spouse said the 4pm spot was good, we went back. Second customers in after opening, and I asked if they had any food or flights. He very politely told me that they did not have flights or food (tonight, but they did have some bagged snacks) and told me another brewery (#4) had both those things a short distance away (5-10 min/a few blocks). After chatting with the spouse (she and 3 kids had entered), we decided to stay. (Also, as a fun side-note, #4 is the one spouse thought she was taking us to.) We shared half a pilsner (Polished), half a gose (Speed Dial), and half an IPA (Westwhere). The Pilsner ended up being our 3rd favorite, but they were all tasty. We are not big drinkers, so we felt the 1.5 beers each! And since we were staying, we picked up a mandarin soda for the kids to share (special treat) and we all munched on a bit of popcorn, beef jerky, and Zapp's chips. It ended up being a great time! Very affordable, low-key, solid tunes, and super kid friendly. It's a big space, so noisy children are not too noticeable. Also, the man running the bar, again, was super cool. Highly recommend!
