I have ordered seafood platters from Cozy Brown's years ago at the old location and it was always great. I finally ordered an oxtail dinner today using DoorDash (for the first time). I called first to make sure they had oxtails and experienced courteous service during the call. Today I had oxtails, cabbage, sweet potatoes and peach cobbler for dessert. The food was delicious. The oxtails could have been a little bit more tender but the seasoning was perfection and the peach cobbler reminded me of my Mom's. The cornbread was good. The delivery was a great experience. While traveling we determined that a home cooked meal in a Sunday would do us all some good. We were led to Cozy Brown's and were not disappointed by this gem of a location in Saraland, Al. To say this food was cooked with love and every bit of the best seasonings would be an understatement - it all tasted great and was an ultra 10 out of 5!! The locals obviously knew it well as they were lined up waiting for some of all this lil gem had to offer. The menu was a bit confusing but once we figured it out we got an oxtail meal that was the star, a baked chicken dinner and a macaroni and cheese plate with double Mac and cheese and a side of cheese dressing. There are daily specials and meals come with sweet tea. Any other drinks like lemonade or kool aid come at a up charge of $1.99. You place your order first then grab a table to eat or take to go. I ordered the gumbo today and to say I was pleased would be an understatement. It is the best gumbo I have eaten outside of New Orleans! It is rich with flavor and teeming with shrimp! This is the best meat and three I have ever had. Everything was absolutely delicious and they have a great set up. The staff was super friendly and helpful. There are a couple of places to sit if you are dining in but seemed like a lot of people get it to go. I highly suggest getting the peas if they have them when you visit! read more

Cozy has moved to a new location on highway 45. It's larger and has seating. You still have the take-out option if you wish. There is sufficient room for couples or families. The menu is about the same, with a few added items.Beef Tips,Chitlins,Fried Chicken, Pork Chops, and gumbo. It's clean and spacious. The staff, most of whom are from the former location, are courteous and helpful. My only suggestion at this time would be to add a karaoke night. There is room and would add to the clientele. We stopped in for lunch while we were in town for the game and want some good southern style cooking and this place didn't disappoint. This isn't a fancy sit down place with table cloths and linen napkins. This is the real deal five table with the big fan in the corner place. They have a steam table full of delicious food and the prices are very reasonable. It took me a while to decide what to order because everything looks so good. I had to try fried chicken. This to me determines if everything else is going to be good. I also had the cabbage, mac & cheese, speckled butter beans and cornbread. All I can say is AWESOME! The chicken was seasoned perfectly, the cabbage was the best of all the sides. The beans had pieces of okra that made them taste so good. The meat that they used also gave them a taste I've never had. The mac & cheese was creamy and it tasted nothing like craft cheese and shells! The cornbread was also good and it wasn't dry. Last but not least, I had peach cobbler for dessert. Make sure you either save room or take it with you. This is by far the best I've ever purchased in a restaurant. It is very close to my mom's. Have eaten here multiple times at the new location. The food is good and reasonably priced . The dining room is large and has always been clean on my visits . My complaint is there is no sign above the tea saying there is a charge for refills . I was eating in the restaurant and got up to refill my tea and as I'm walking away from the container a younger worker says " sweetie you are aware there is a .55 cent charge for refill " No problem . I tell her I wasn't aware and hand her my card to pay for it . She hands me my card back saying it would charge them to use my card and it wasn't worth .55 cents " ( but it was worth calling me out in front of a lobby full of people) I have no cash and she said it was fine , but I'm feeling awkward at this point like I've tried to steal something. I asked her to please charge it and she said it was fine this time to not pay for the refill bc it wasn't worth the charge for using the card . A guy in line , seeing the discomfort the situation was causing me , offered to pay for it . Very nice of him . Please put a sign over the tea in the dining room that says refills are not free and cash only . It made for an awkward experience being called out and then not even being able to right the wrong I did . I'm sure no harm or embarrassment was meant but it sure made me very uncomfortable. Extremely disappointed I have been going to cozies for years but yet I place an order over the phone due to having a broken leg and guess what of course they got my order wrong I asked for chitlins no rice cabbage and turnip greens I get all the way home and guess what they gave me chitlins with rice for some reason potato salad? I went back father day 2021 (June 22, 2021) I drove all the way from Florida! When I got there I stood in line. When it was time too order I ordered a large quantity. When it came too pay the waiter had a attitude because I ordered so much food & I wanted too wait a hour on chitterings. The waiter charged me 110 for 5 chitterlings, 2 chicken plates, and a med peach cobbler. We asked for receipt and she tried too hurry up and throw it away. She then threw it away and we sat there until she printed another one. We sat down and ate and something told me too check my receipt because the total didn't sound right. I checked the receipt and it had a oxtail plate, 2 large peach cobblers and another chicken dinner added (which was extra!!!) I told her about it & she laughed. Staff are really nice, i drive to this restaurant often over 2 hours away for their chitterlings, the most amazingest baked chicken and yams (seriously omg) and oxtails. All clean, well seasoned, and amazing. Parking is a bit of a squeeze however im also in an H2 so that's nornal. Sweet tea is awesome and again staff really great. Small restaurant but not tiny and prices are almost as amazing as the food and staff. read more

I have alway gone to get food for other people from this establishment and it ALWAYS has a nice crowd waiting to be served and the only complaint I've every heard from the deliveree is, the greens haven't been throughly washed. My wife stopped in a grabbed us some dinner. The food is tasty and all but while I was eating their beef patties with gravy. I almost swallowed a long piece of wire from the scrubbing pads used to clean their pots. I literally started choking. I've reached out to them with this issue but they never replied back. I hope Cozy gets on to his employees to make them aware in order to correct such mistakes, because if it was my son who had the same plate as I did. It would definitely be a legal issue.
