    Fish, grits and toast.

Great food with even better service to match. Every staff we encountered was very hospitable and catered to our needs. They really made me and my family feel at home and the food certainly appeased our rumbling appetites. We definitely look forward to visiting again when we're in the area. Seating options are very few, but it's worth a visit!

This little place next to a gas station is a must try to southern breakfast favs, namely the fish and grits. I've heard good things about them for years but just never go by there until a couple of weeks ago. Outside the windows are covered with stuff so you gotta take a chance and go through the door. There are a few small tables, but takeout and delivery are the most popular according to some regulars. They have a big list of southern food options for breakfast, lunch and dinner but I was just there for fish and grits. It was Friday, so you know what's up in the south with fish and grits on Fridays. The staff at the counter was ok. Nothing special. You order she asked how you want your eggs; Texas toast, white or wheat; grits with cheese or without. Wait time was about average for fish. And the portions were very generous, it was enough to share. I'll definitely check them out again.

No stars for the atmosphere. None for the plastic and foam "dishes" either. But the food? OMG it's great! And the prices? Five more stars. It's beside a gas station, and all of the windows are covered over. It looks more like a billboard, and certainly didn't look open. So gad we went inside (with our pants up, see photo). Loved the grilled catfish, and the cheesy grits. Who wants fiaf-and-grits for breakfast? Yes, please! Ma enjoyed her pancakes and eggs. Hubby loved, loved, loved his fried giblets! The food was tasty. The service friendly. There were 4 or 5 3-tops inside, I presume most of their orders are takeaway. And they cater. Delish food, great prices, served in a drab, depressing hole-in-the-wall. C'mon people, take the stickers off at least one of the windows so us customers can see inside! This is a hidden gem. Like Arnold, I will be back.

Food tastes cold, subpar at best. I would definitely eat at a drive thru before I'd go here ever again. It was cold and tastes days old.

If iced coffee is listed as an option, it would help if the staff were more familiar with how to prepare it. Our server had to come back and ask for clarification, and what I received felt more like a flavored iced coffee with a shot rather than a true iced double espresso. I also had to add my own cream, which made it seem like hot coffee might be more their specialty. The food itself was solid, though a bit on the pricey side. The scrambled eggs, bacon, sausage, and toast were decent. The poached egg with salmon on grilled eggplant and arugula was tasty, and the home fries were a standout--unexpectedly excellent. Service was attentive and kind throughout, which I appreciated. However, the wait time after ordering was noticeably long, and there was a 3% convenience charge for using a debit card, which was noted on the receipt. I don't typically give less than 4 stars, but this feels like a place that could easily improve with some small adjustments.

My daughter and I had breakfast here today and I can't express enough how much I enjoy their menu…read more She had never been to the Redbar before, and had also never had a crumpet. So it was doubly pleasing to be able to introduce her to this pleasing restaurant with its eclectic cuisine. The breakfast menu is what usually draws my attention. Served anytime, not just normal breakfast hours, a customer can choose between crumpets, omelettes, french toast, or just the usual bacon and eggs. I usually order one of their crumpets, but today, chose their Loaded Omelette with cheese grits. More like a purée, the grits were superb, creamy and buttery. My omelette was delivered spicy and hot. Giving my daughter a taste we soon concluded that the sausage used reminded us of the blood sausage we have enjoyed for breakfast in Peru, when we travel there to visit my wife's family. This is certainly not a typical omelette for Mobile, Alabama. My only complaint about it is that it was slightly overcooked and dry. Nevertheless, it was very tasty. My daughter had the Fried Egg and Cheese Crumpet, that she reported to be delicious. A mix-up on my drink order brought me a Turkish coffee rather than a Turkish latte, and suspiciously weak to be considered Turkish. I suspect that the cashier heard "Turkish", but not "latte", and confused, may have decided to see if a regular Americano would pass as an acceptable substitute. Except for the jolt I was expecting to receive, from the latte I ordered, it was acceptable. I am eager to return again to try one of their "Build Your Own Smashburger." Until then I will continue to hold the opinion that I have yet to have a disappointing meal at the RedBar, and I rest assured that my meal on that day will be equally satisfying.
