There isn't anything within walking distance of the hotel, so a car is necessary. As has been mentioned in other reviews, the hotel doesn't have an elevator, so you will have to carry your suitcase upstairs; be sure to let the hotel know if a disability or anything would keep you from bringing your bag upstairs so you can stay on the ground floor. The hotel provides free breakfast which has the standard eggs, breakfast meat and some carbs. The rooms are pretty tired but they were otherwise clean and functional. The gym was a decent size with a couple of cardio machines, some free weights and one weight machine.

Every single detail of this house is beautifully done. Take a step into the turn of the century. Magical? Indeed. (Feeling peckish? There are probably a few fresh baked goodies in the kitchen.) The feather bed was.....a dream! Lovely soaps and lotions are all here for bathing. Big cozy super fresh towels and best linens. And breakfast. Wow. You won't need lunch. It changed daily. A generous bowl of fresh fruit with yogurt always started it. This is a pet friendly facility and they conveniently placed my hubby and I right by the outer door, so it was easy to take our pup, Bailey, in and outside as she needed. The room was spacious and well taken care of. I loved that they have makeup remover cloths with the toiletries and four pillows on each bed. Small touches, that made our stay more comfortable. There is free wifi, direct TV (HUGE bonus), and free breakfast. The only downside was that they were doing construction and it was a bit messy. All in all, this is a solid spot and I would highly recommend if you are needing a place to stay while you are in Marshalltown.
