Since then I have been working with a couple of top-tier Periodontists that are significantly more expensive to try and repair the damage, and the experience has been a lot better. Unfortunately, the repairs so far have cost nearly $18k, and I have another repair surgery scheduled for next month which will cost another $8k. I had never gotten a root canal before and was feeling really nervous, especially because I was in the early days of pregnancy. Dr. Forghani took the time to answer all of my questions and talked me through all the pros and cons of doing it now vs. waiting. I've never had a dentist (yet alone any doctor) spend that much time with me prior to a procedure, and I felt so much more calm because I trusted him. The procedure itself was relatively quick and the only painful part was really the numbing shots on both sides. After he thoroughly removed the dead nerves, my tooth already started to come back to its normal color and with a bit of bleaching, it almost looks normal now. This was honestly the best experience I could've ever asked for and I'm so grateful that Dr. Forghani was my doctor for this. While treating one of my patients, she identified a defect in an existing crown during a routine radiographic exam. Despite having no prior connection to me, she took it upon herself to track down my contact information and personally send me a copy of the X-ray along with a detailed note. This kind of initiative is rare and deserves recognition. By catching this issue early and communicating it promptly, Dr. Kim prevented what could have become a much more serious problem -- left unaddressed, the defect could have led to decay, and ultimately a far more complex and costly intervention for our shared patient. Instead, the issue was caught in time and resolved simply. Dr. Kim's actions reflect exactly what patient-centered care looks like: thorough, communicative, and genuinely invested in outcomes beyond the walls of her own practice.
