Beware hidden or misleading service and contract commitments. I was told by sales reps (3.5 year ago) that it was a 60 month equipment payment plan. Turns out it's a 60 month service agreement. At time of sale, I asked what happens if we move or no longer need service. I was informed that we can "transfer service to a new property or gift service to a new user, but not to worry. They'll always work with you". Turns out that means only giving me the option to buy out the contract in full regardless of whether services are rendered." Major bait and switch. Read details carefully and ask questions. That said, service provided is fine. Customer service is good. Equipment is overpriced. I'm loosing thousands of dollars, and CPI wouldn't cancel my contract without signing something stating going to use in my new home, which I don't need. So they wouldn't cancel my contract saying I would owe about 3700 to cancel it, it's corprate bull crap. People have legitimate reasons they have to sell their homes. This is corprate greed. Then the rep says can you pay $25 for half the service fee cost and I say no again. I inform them that I will just shift to another alarm company and then after 5 minutes they waive the service fee. Even if you call CPI and warn them, they will dispatch the police anyway. Think that's good? Apparently it's York County Sheriff's policy to enter a home unannounced when they receive these calls from CPI. CPI's response? That's your fault. Apparently they need weeks of notice to allow a homeowner to maintain their own home. The issue was not "replacing the keypad". It was the charge for the replacement. Nice stalling technique though! CPI should have replaced the faulty keypad to begin with. But since they did not have one, they had to replace it with a newer model. This required replacement of the main panel and both keypads. All I am requesting is the cost of Second touch screen keypad, which would give me the same system I had to begin with. I should not be penalized for the fact that they do not maintain stock of replacement parts. They had more than made up the cost of this keypad over the 25+ years of maintenance fees. This company has been extremely disappointing and unsafe. Their system failed, and my neighbors were able to use my access code to break into my apartment. When I reported the issue, the company refused to take accountability, offered no assistance, and did not even alert the police. This shows a complete lack of security and responsibility. As a loyal customer of CPI for many years, I recently moved into a new house in the Charlotte area and contracted with CPI for thousands of dollars of CPI equipment and installations. Since that move 10 months ago, CPI has visited my home over 30 times to fix tech installation and equipment failures. Cameras have been put in upside down, door keypads have lost battery power a few days after installation, door keypads were installed that did not communicate with the main panel, door keypads were installed that were broken.. Door lock notifications have failed, glass break devices have failed, carbon monoxide detectors have failed. Cameras have been put in that continually fail and don't communicate with the main panel and phone app. I recently called CPI, which seems to be several times a month, to report new problems with the CO monitor, a glass break, brand new and installed by CPI, and a non functioning camera, brand new and installed by CPI. This particular camera was first installed upside down and then had to have tech three times to my home to change the wiring as the camera never connected to the panel, and was told I was going to be charged $60 for CPI to send a tech to my home to fix these problems. I am a 75 year old senior who is not tech savvy and was relying on CPI to keep my home and belongings safe. I pay a huge monthly bill, I paid a huge amount to have system installed and updated and now Im going to be charged for CPI shoddy workmanship and equipment? The phone representatives I've spoken to are extremely rude. The last ones were Alex and Touriya who were both so unfriendly and condescending. My advice is buyer beware, CPI is not the same company it used to be. I will be contacting other security companies in the area and getting out of my contract. Glad I only signed a short term contract as of course they pressed me to sign a 10 year contract. I wish I had gone to the BBB and other review sites before I decided to continue with CPI. We thought we had signed a 3 yr contract, nope it's 5 years We can't get out of our contract but company is not holding themselves to the same standards. Equipment frequently fails and I was recently informed that I was expected to know how to manage the equipment through the app " we monitor your residence not the equipment " per customer service representative. If you are not tech savvy do not use this company. You are charged a fee if a technician needs to come out and reset or adjust the equipment ! It's their equipment. Initial setup was good but since then with equipment failures and frequent resets I'm not confident I'm getting the same level of security service I initially signed up for. POOR BUSINESS ETHICS!!! On 2/17/25 the salesman comes to my home and gives me a quote for a new security system. The quote was $1,297.44 for the equipment and $44.99 per month. CPI emails me the "Contract with all Terms" by DocuSign. I sign the contract. The next day I get another email that says that their salesman made a mistake and they want an additional $800. I complained and told them that I did nothing wrong and if their employee made a mistake that I should not be help responsible for that. Upper management in Charlotte did not care and refuses to honor their contract. I was originally with ADT and needed to update my cameras. Since the average household is always looking for bargains and better deals I decided to go with CPI. From the very onset of the installation I encountered issues that continues today. It has been five months of problems with cameras not recording at all, alarm system not activateing, and any malfunction you can think out. I had a technical to come to the residence and he showed no respect for the property. So if you are looking for your home to be burglarized or damaged CPI will be your worst criminal especially when you have to report it to your insurance company. It's an all win game for them. we've been loyal cpi customers for over 8 years on our primary residence. Just recently, our garage door on the cpi app stopped working and our camera for front door did as well. Cpi came out but could not fix the garage door application error . That is all the tech said to us. . - nothing else. . Additionally we had service on our second home and decided to sell the home, Cpi is charging a cancellation fee of 1500 along with a smart pay balance of 483.90- but no one can tell me what this fee is for. in addition to another full month and we don't even own the home. When we buy another home you can rest assured that we will not be using cpi . I called this morning and spoke with a representative that told me CPI required a 30-day notice. He then asked me to hold on and returned with "CPI requires a 60-day notice!!". I told him I did not want to be billed for April 2025 and if I was it should be refunded. He said there will be "NO REFUND!!". I am paying CPI for NO SERVIC!!!! Do NOT use this system. The cameras have ZERO night vision and the system pauses recording after a number of clips every month. You lose protection until you manually turn the recording back on at the start of the next month. They sell you on hundreds of dollars in equipment and then refuse to allow returns when the equipment fails to provide security. Dear CPI, My husband and I experienced our first home scare last night. At 2:30am, our door bell rang. We were obviously concerned, as no one was at said door. After checking all doors were locked, and our 14 month old son was sleeping soundly, we were glad to have the reassurance of our CPI security system. When we tried to turn on the Arm Away feature from our phones, this did not work. It said it could not connect. When we tried to use our hardwired wall unit, it only went to Arm Stay, which is not sufficient as it does not carry the motion sensor. When we tried calling, your phones lines dropped the call. Every...single...time. We called from multiple phones and even Skype, to no avail. We spent the night afraid and wide awake, myself sleeping in our sons room. No help, and no alarm system. Needless to say, this does not bode well. What is the point of having an alarm system, if it does not function when needed? And what is the point of 24/7 security, if no one is there to pick up the phone? I tried calling again this morning, and after being on hold for 10 minutes the call dropped....unacceptable. Moved to a home in Charlotte causing me to move service. Their equipment wasn't compatible with my home. I only have front door lock service as thermostat broke, garage door wasn't wireless and doorbell wasn't wired. Now the front door keyless entry has broken for the 3rd time. They still charge a full monthly service and customer service and supervisors are rude. I do not recommend CPI . Also they haven't responded to the fire alarm. Just bad business! read more

Is September - I ended my contract with CPI. They took payment anyway from my checking, They told me - give you a refund in October. In November they charge my checking account again. I've made numerous phone calls, waiting 45 minutes in ridiculous phone cues. I keep getting promises I would get a credit ...never shows up in my checking account. So I start over again today trying the refund. I even convinced the person who bought my house to sign up for the service and they will be benefiting from them another three or four years Next stop is the attorney 's office. I have had a great experience with CPI so far. I got the system over two years ago. When they came out they asked what i wanted and we came up with a plan that was good for me. I have since called them out to add more security and another camera, again what are you looking for and this may work for you. They have never pressured me to buy more than I ask for. I had CPI installed about 6 months ago and it was a very good experience from start to finish. They explained everything very thoroughly when I called to inquire about service and set me up with the best options for my home layout. There was no pressure, just information. I ended up getting the doorbell camera, some perimeter devices for doors and windows, the smart hub and an outdoor camera. Installation was quick and the techs were super helpful and respectful. I had an alert about a month ago, where some people were approaching my house from the back yard and the whistle on the outdoor camera scared them away. All in all, I feel much safer for myself and my family with CPI protecting my home. I definitely recommend CPI to anyone looking to install a home security system. read more

Made several requests for service appointments due to constantly having to reset cameras and for a sensor that popped out for no apparent reason. Requested appointments on 2/16, 2/18, 2/23, 3/10, 3/16 and 4/4. Haven't even received replies to emails sent on 2/23, 3/10, 3/16, and 4/4. When you call, you're waiting for 10+ min. They came highly recommended but their service is awful. Techs are perfectly friendly but clearly they can't solve long term fixes. Was offered a discount for two months once I finally spoke with someone. Seems like a poor attempt at service recovery given the frustration experienced. read more
