Had a problem communicating with SolarEdge inverter via older 3g. Asked for a solution. They ended up recommending going with wi-fi. Ended up having same disconnect problem in spite of my fiber optic ATT connection and the router being 3 ft from inverter. I ended up researching on YouTube/Google how to eliminate the problem. DIRECT ETHERNET CONNECTION! Something Sun Service Specialists N E V E R recommended. Why? Cause setting up an appointment to reset to Wi-fi was a $350 service call. I found out on YouTube how to direct connect my inverter to my router using a 6ft ethernet cable for $5.99! NOW, I HAVE NO MORE DISCONNECTS! But Sun Service Specialists has my $350!!!! read more

First, Sun Service Specialists are the same company (or under the same umbrella) as Renu Solar Service. After nearly a year after install we have an issue with the system because an AC connection was loose and fried the AC shut off switch. 5 days after reporting a problem a tech checked it out. 4 or 5 days after that he came back to replace the part but had the wrong part. Several days later he showed up with and installed the correct part. Before leaving I explained that my app showed power from my panels going ONLY out to the grid - not recharging the batteries of powering our home. the tech said it could take a couple of hours to reset...that was more than 48 hours ago. My CSR seems to be ghosting me. We are now at 2 weeks where our system is not producing/operating properly. As someone said earlier the "service side leaves much to be desired.". Sun Service Specialist's service department is slow to respond and doesn't follow up when promised. Update: Tech Bobby Brown arrived yesterday and seems to have fixed the issue. He worked on some high voltage stuff whilst I held an umbrella for him in a steady rain. I very much appreciated Bobby's efforts. That said, this warranty repair took too long to complete. Customer service (while very polite and pleasant) did not communicate well and the initial tech came with the wrong part then poo-pooed my concern about energy flow. My system was out of commission for 19 or 20 days which remains unacceptable. I am raising my rating to 3 stars from 2 with the hope that this was a one-off issue and that I'll be able to raise my rating more in the future. read more

When we realized our energy bills from the non-solar company were increasing, we realized we needed help. After finding our installer had gone out of business, Sun Service was the first to call from a request of many online. Mark was great in giving us honest explanations of what the pricing for a cleaning entailed, as well as the welcome addition of transferring system monitoring to them. Considering the level of dis-service our original installer had, Sun Service came through with professional & compassionate customer service. I wish I had the great experiences like I read about, but so far mine has not been good at all. I have a PV system that doesn't appear to be working. After paying for a "truck roll" and a schedule a few weeks later, a polite young man came out and took pictures. He knew nothing about the system and had no knowledge of the part I had told them beforehand was not working. I have heard nothing else since. No diagnosis, no solution, no help...although I did get a quick bill the same day as the truck roll. Anybody have any advice for how I can get someone to actually get my system working? read more

Wish I could give them 0 star. I got their reference from Duke Energy to install EV charger at my home. Their technicians really did a dirty job. First of all they cut the dry wall twice as the first time when they cut, they weren't able to put their drill inside to make a hole in the studs to pass the wire, then they had to cut it again. After they were done they didn't put it back properly not expecting it to be perfect or do any kind of mudding or painting. Also, at the corner they didn't even fix the drywall it is just hanging there. They didn't even had proper tools or battery for drills or charger to charge the batteries (at 8:00am). Very unsatisfactory and unsafe work. Now I have to spend more than $200 to get it fixed by someone. Secondly, after the installation when I put the charger to my car after few minutes the circuit breaker tripped. I turned it back on and tried again and same thing. I complained about it and they send another technician. He replaced the Aluminum wire to Copper wire and also replaced the local (generic) 60amp circuit breaker (looks like the cheap one) with the other 60amp one. He himself mentioned that their previous technicians did a filthy and unsafe job in putting the charger and cutting the drywall twice. He also mentioned that I should be properly compensated for that. Then today I got a call from their director of Operation, Martin (Something), that guy was rude like anything. He was accusing me for everything telling me they did their job right and there will not be any compensation, even though their technician only mentioned it. I paid them 50% in advance and rest 50% was due after the satisfactory work done. The work was not done satisfactory and still I was ready to pay them, but then their Director of Operation (Martin) threatened me that if you don't pay we will report it to collection agency. Looks like this guy had something against people of different ethnicity. I had several referrals, and he also said we don't want your referrals. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!!! After reading reviews posted, I am stunned I have not received similar quality of repair service. After squirrel damage, repairs were needed. It took 2 weeks after I signed the repair contract to get an appointment. The repair work was not satisfactory. 2 of the optimizers that had to be replaced were still not functioning. I had to wait another 2 weeks to get on the schedule. The result of that repair work? Of the 2 optimizers replaced, one of the optimers is back online. The other is still not functioning. Apparently a functioning optimizer was mistaken for the nonfunctioning one. So a healthy one was replaced; the location of the nonfunctioning optimizer is apparently a mystery. Yet again another call had to be made to request a repair of the repair of the original repair. Wait time will be 2 weeks. I must also mention that for both appointments, the technicians were over an hour late. I had to call each time after waiting over 60 minutes to find out when arrival was expected. It was only when I called for the upcoming appointment that was I informed the appointment would be for a window of time. Confusing, because the first 2 appointments were for a specific time, not a window. Perhaps scheduling policies have changed in the last week. Prompt service? Really? I reread the reviews posted & wonder where I went astray. Would I get better service if I lived closer to Charlotte? I feel more like the black sheep of the ReNu Energy Solutions family. read more
