I would give them 1 star, but as far as I know they are the only place in my area to find esoteric computer stuff. I visited on Saturday 1/18/2025 just after 10a. I told the clerk, being the only employee in the store, that I needed a micro USB to USB B cable (Raspberry Pi Zero W 2 to 3D Printer). I knew they probably didn't have one. So, I'd have to cobble something with other cables. I told him I could use a USB A female to female or a Micro USB to USB A female. He picked a cable out and said here's a micro USB to USB A female. Great! Purchased for $9 plus tax. Got home, it wouldn't work. I looked at the package and noticed it said micro USB On The Go. USB OTG does not support passthrough of data. He knew exactly what I was trying to do and still offered me this cable. So, I brought it back for a return and purchased the USB A female to female connector which worked perfectly for my application. Here's where the problem started. It is clearly marked on the receipt and signage in the store that all returns are subject to an 8% restocking fee. This would have been fine had I picked out the cable and it was wrong. But the clerk picked it out, not me. He should have refunded the entire amount, but he didn't. Furthermore, they have some type of antiquated system where he had to call the owner to approve the return. He even told the owner "the customer bought the wrong cable." Of course, he didn't admit any fault. On the way out I let him know that I didn't think what he did was right, but all he did was state the return policy on the wall. When I said "but you gave me the wrong cable..." he acted like that didn't matter. I told him I would write this review, so here it is. CPU Wholesale... DO BETTER and do the right thing next time. I have bought 2 computers from these guys. Really good computers, better and cheaper than brand name crap with bloat-ware. My last computer I bought 2 years ago. Wanted to add another hard-drive internally. Called them and they talked me through the modification, was really good customer service. Thanks guys! read more

This place basically stole $16.00 from me. I went there to buy a SSD in attempt to spend my money locally rather than giving it to Amazon. The hard drive was $20 more than it was on Amazon but they refused to price match. I went ahead and bought it then went to Best Buy to buy ram that CPU did not sell. While at Best Buy, I noticed they had the same hard drive I had just bought from CPU. Best Buy would price match so I went ahead and bought it there. 5 minutes after leaving CPU I was back to return my purchase. They then charged me an 8% restocking fee to put the unopened hard drive I bought from them 5 minutes earlier back on a shelf behind them. $16 for that, to put a box on a shelf. I argued that this was wrong and they wouldn't budge for fear of getting in trouble. Buyer beware, I guess I shouldn't have tried to spend my money at a local business because now I feel ripped off. read more

They said they would send me all of the invoices the billed me for so I could analyze my payments to them....2 months ago...I'm still waiting. I tried to purchase a special bolt for my computer,and manager said they wouldn't order it for me. Must have more money than they can use. I'm not saying not to use them but parts service should try to give service not act like it is an inconvenience to be asked for parts. read more

Do not come here for service, they are con artists. Needed an OS installed onto an SSD, which shouldn't take very long. So I pay them their required $60 for the first hour of labor (this phrasing is important), which is already a little egregious for such a task. Then I wait a few days and found out they charged me an extra $100 since it took 2.5hrs for Windows to install. So you're charging $50/hr while you literally do other things while Windows does its thing. Outrageously expensive for such a menial task. Do not come to this store, they will charge you insane rates. I'm all for supporting local businesses, but this is one that I wouldn't mind seeing close down if this is how they treat customers. read more

This store is a joke! Don't waste your time or money for them to fix anything. My laptop hasn't been turning on for a few months and I've been calling around to see what can be done just to get pictures, videos and music off of it. They said a data transfer would be what I need. First, I had to pay up front $60 and change with tax included for the first hour of service before they could even check out my computer. Then I would be charged another hour if time went over. So I paid the first hour on Tuesday. Technician calls me the next day on Wednesday left message that said to call them back, I call them back an hour later and technician is at lunch, I leave a message, Technician doesn't call back. I call back at 5:45PM Wednesday when I get off work. The guy tells me the tech has already gone home for the day. CPU closes at 6:30PM! I go in the next day Thursday on my lunch break, asking for tech and my laptop. Tech tells me that it is a dead hard drive, so I ask about getting a refund, because I got nothing from my computer and I paid $60, or getting a discount. The Tech asked his manager about a refund or discount and manager says NO. I told the tech I'm sorry he wasted his time and I wasted $60 for a man to look at a laptop that won't turn on. I'M PISSED AND I WILL NOT EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THEM AGAIN! Was not offered any other services. Hope this review helps you all! read more

CPU is the best. Not only do they sell parts, as their name implies, they repair computers and iPhones, build customized computers, special order parts...they will even come to your house if you can't bring your broken machine to the store. I know because I have used all the services I listed over the past 19 years that the store has been open. There is no other place like them in Longview, and I will be a loyal customer as long as the doors are open. read more
