WOW. This spot is a must when visiting Rome. We went for lunch, and it was pretty empty but we didn't mind having the place all to ourselves. Our server was great and recommended her favorite dish, the lobster risotto. I am so glad we tried it! Honestly, one of the best meals we had during our honeymoon to Italy. If you like seafood and appreciate a more high -end meal, then I highly recommend coming whether it is for lunch or dinner. The dishes were also works of art and Instagram-worthy!

Coliseum suggested tourist trap but it's the opposite. Excellently prepared and delicious meals . Wine lost was solid too. Fair price considering the food quality and attentiveness of staff

We were recommended Crab by the nearby Palazzo Manfredi, and we cannot stop thinking about this meal since. It was probably the best meal I had in my life... and no other seafood on our trip to greece, turkey, naples could compare to this one spot. Do NOT miss your chance if you're in Rome by the Colosseum to eat at Crab Restaurant!! The manager helped us decide what to order and everything pictured tasted just as amazing as it looked. The service was great, the food was unforgettable, the music and vibes were lovely. 100/10, come super hungry and eat the freshest seafood (literally, they showed us our lobster alive at our table before cooking). You will probably start planning the next trip back to Rome after eating here :)

This was the best restaurant I've been to thus far in Italy. We've eaten at numerous places, but this tops it. If you're a seafood lover, this is the place to be! We ordered the el pulpo (octupus) salad, gambino tempura, sea bass, and blue lobster. My recommendation would be to ask them to salt lightly as the seasoning sometimes got a little overpowering, but really that doesn't even take a star away. The servers were all so helpful. We were shocked when one of them brought out the blue lobster to show us how big it was... and then proceeded to say that it could feed two, but because I wanted seabass, I stuck to my dish while my husband ordered the blue lobster and pasta. Jr was soo fresh! They also swerve Acqua Panna (from what we've noticed so far, was when this was the restaurant's choice of still water... more so than likely, it's a legit place). The ambiance, the service, the food... all was top notch. I do want to send a special thank you to the two waitresses who helped me get my infant a make-shift changing table, all of which have been hard to find out in Florence and Rome. Thank you guys!

Lovely restaurant off the beaten path but can be found around the corner from the Colosseo/coliseum. Looking for a break from the pasta life we were curently enjoying on our visit to Italy we decided on pesce for lunch The owner recommended a local fish which was prepared to perfection with blistered tomatos, roasted potatoes and black olives .. the fish was seasoned with olive oil and S and P.. it was outstanding

Delicious seafood and atmosphere. We ordered a variety of plates. All of them were pretty good. The linguinis and seafood platter were my favorite dishes. We also ordered Rose, which paired really well together with the flavors of the dishesDefin. They also had the best bread in comparison to all the other restaurants I went to in Rome. The restaurant was not too busy at the time we went so it was a nice calm ambiance. Definitely recommend checking Crab out.

Excellent seafood, so fresh! Octopus salad & seafood risotto, both excellent. Wonderful white accompanied, would definitely return.

Wonderful seafood restaurant. They have outdoor and indoor seating. We came during a weekday around 2pm. They gave us the best seat in the restaurant and it was lovely. We ordered the seafood tower and it was delicious!! We also ordered aperol spritz to go with our seafood. There were two large gray shrimp that was questionable but the server was so kind. She said they were able to cook that up for us and it came back like a new dish! All of the seafood tasted very fresh except for the hairy crab. The first giveaway was it was not as firm. The only seasoning they used for the crab was salt and olive oil. I am sure other people would enjoy the seasoning but i had to make my own. I used their passion fruit, lemon, and orang from the aperol spritz to make my seafood sauce and it was amaaazing. Tasted like a seafood ceviche. Highly recommend people giving that a try. We love their kind and attentive service and fresh seafood! Will definitely come back if we are back in Rome

    Spaghetti with clams

This restaurant has really great service and ambience! We ordered the spaghetti with clams, sea bass, and tasted a few oysters. The spaghetti was near perfect - not too salty, seasoned perfectly, and the clams were fresh. However, I docked them one star due to the pasta being undercooked. It was slightly hard in the centers. The sea bass was cooked and seasoned perfectly as well and the oysters tasted very fresh. We would definitely come back again!

It's a little on the expensive side but the ingredients are top notch and well prepared. I suppose it's a light lunch day so the wait staff has time to chit chat with us. I've never had oysters from this side of the world so wanted to give them a try. I think I prefer ours in North America.

A jazz club for American tourists…read more Okay, there was one Australian lady and a few Chinese. Everyone else was American. Prices are sky-high because this is a soak the tourist situation. Alexanderplatz which is the premiere jazz club in Rome charges $18 euros for a month membership - no cover after that - and $12 per drink. So once you have paid your monthly cover charge, you can hear all the jazz you want for free - or if need be for $12 euros a drink At Alexanderplatz, the performances are legendary with some of the most innovative and technically amazing musicians in Rome. We dropped over $150 euros at Gregory's. We got a perfectly reasonable yeoman guitarist. But nothing like the artistic lions that routinely perform over at Alexanderplatz. Now to be fair, we had dinner at Gregory's and we never eat at Alexanderplatz. The standard "sushi dinner" was perfectly reasonable yeoman sushi. There was so little of it that we both had to order a la carte dishes afterwards. The extra extras seriously expanded the final tab. * * * One argument in Gregory's favor: their bar is extraordinary. The bar at Alexanderplatz is mediocre. Gregory's charges top dollar for its bar offerings, but what they mix and what is in their bottles is worth every single euro they ask for. I would be perfectly happy to just go to the bar, and order a few premium beverages. I would hear my wallet cry. But I would know that I was drinking supremely well in return for my investment. Fortunately, the bar is downstairs from the club. I would not have to put up with the shenanigans in the club. * * * The problem with the club is the crowd. At most, one third of the customers are actually there to listen to jazz. The room is filled with tourists taking selfies. There are also hot-daters playing snuggle-buns. Many of them will leave mid-set so they can go back to the hotel. Gregory's is less about the music and more about selling happy memories of Rome. * * * Alexanderplatz gets a mostly Italian crowd. You are looking as musicians, music critics, academics, and all purpose artsy types - as well as normal Italian human beings who just want to hear fine music. The music is taken very very seriously. Yeah, there are usually two or three tables with good time Charlies who are doing the phone recording, party hearty thing. But this is 8% of the audience at Alexanderplatz as opposed to 70% of the audience at Gregory's. To be fair to the crowd at Gregory's, the music at Alexanderplatz is simply better. The jazz at Alexanderplatz is capable of transfixing even philistines with tin ears. Gregory's jazz doesn't put that much on the table. But the crowd at Alexanderplatz sets me up for listening to mystic, complex music with the highest level of attention and aesthetic receptiveness. The crowd at Gregory's just gets me irritated. * * * If you are in Rome with a hot date, go to Gregory's. Be prepared to shell out the bucks. * * * If you are in Rome with someone who can truly appreciate once-in-a-lifetime musical experiences, take them to Alexanderplatz. After you talk about the music for half an hour after the concert, You can still go back to the hotel. Just figure that the hotel will be the second best part of the night.

The place was pretty full outside so we mentioned we would wait for a table (it was a beautiful night) rather than sit indoors. They then quickly cleared a table and got us seats so we waited no more than a minute after mentioning that we wanted to be outside. The wait staff was personable and the wine selection is great. My colleague went with a (what he said) excellent glass of the Zenato Amarone red wine, the server also agreed that it was one of their best. I prefer white and am partial to the island of my boyfriend, Sardegna, so went with the Su'entu Vermentino, and it was exquisite. Throughout our respective two glasses there the staff kept bringing by small bites/crostini to try--they were all wonderful and so tasty--we both especially love the simple fresh tomato. All in all it was a simple yet enjoyable stop and I made sure to remember the name so that I can stop in again for a glass (or two!) on my next trip to Rome. Salute!

When they brought out my salad, it was huge and I remarked about how big it was and he said oh would you like a smaller one and I said, yes please. I hadn't even touched the bowl. A few minutes later, he brought a much smaller much better sized bowl filled with crunchy radicchio, carrots, arugula, and other nice veggies. I was grateful because I couldn't even finish that one. The issue I had was that I was in a super heavy tourist area and all of the restaurants we were walking past had people outside trying to lure us in. I wanted to avoid places like that, however via Yelp I discovered Il Chianti a short walk away. While still I assumed still touristy, the reviews were great and as we approached they weren't trying to lure us in, so we decided to try them out. I take this place is very popular since I noticed a sign instructing diners for form a line as we walked up to the restaurant. However, there was no line to be found and we were seated right away. Curb appeal is lovely, they have a decently-sized outdoor seating area though we opted to sit inside. The interior is a good size and compartmentalized into different rooms. The aesthetics are mostly classic with medium to dark wood tones. The menu contained some Tuscan dishes but also several that were more common outside of the region. We decided to start with two of their apps - a cheese plate and bread with fatty prosciutto, pistachio, and honey. The cheese plate was great, I love cheese and this one delivered - there was a good variety and the plate was paired with a few complements. The bread was great - the combination of the fatty prosciutto with the honey and nuts made for a great experience. There was a small salad in the center of the dish which was a welcome reprieve from the heaviness of the app. For my main I decided to get pasta - the paccheri with tomato sauce and burrata was speaking to me. The dish was great - pasta was cooked well and all of the components were super fresh. I've tried burrata in may settings but rarely in a pasta dish - it worked well and now I'll be seeking it out more often. Service was good - everyone was very friendly and there was a good pace to the rate our dishes came out. Overall, we had a great experience at Il Chianti - in a sea of touristy spots by the Trevi, this stands out as a noteworthy option for a good meal.
