It's decent. I sometimes come here on Tuesdays for wings. The food is ok, the service kind of stinks.

Fries are awful. Gravy is worse. Burgers are unedible. Pop is watered. Service is terrible. Enough said.

This was our 1st visit here , free parking out back ,…read more Without reservation we were seated fast and it was about 4:30 and soon filled up with guests . The menu is good but somewhat high brow , but this is NOT a usual roadhouse . The decor is nice , clean and casual up scale a Schmidt , lots of vintage hanging light bulbs everywhere, I'm amused as I sold light bulb for 20 years ; so it was a bit like a bulb showroom . I enjoyed a hot and stacked Smash burger , I'm not so excited about the Brie cheese , a slice if local cheddar would be nice too , My wife had the Caesar salad with added grilled chicken thighs , yes interesting , she liked it . Driving to London , so no wine or beers today It could perhaps , if wanted by owner , "dumb down " the menu by adding a few understood dishes like garlic bread , chicken wings, , fish other than cod , But it's was a very pleasant place and very kind and easy waitress that served and was patient as we searched the menu

Wow, what a transformation since our last visit in May 2024! My girlfriends and I have been…read moregathering here for years--some travel from the GTA, while I make the trek from London. But with the new chef and menu, it seems we've stumbled into a culinary episode of "What Not to Eat." Let's start with drinks. They were solid, with a decent selection. And the tea sample? A lovely touch, like a warm hug when you walk in. But then we had the after-lunch lattes, which were less "café delight" and more "dishwater surprise." Now, onto the food. A generous 1/5 for the charcuterie platter priced at $25. I think I spotted about 2 ounces of cheese--both a thick inedible rind. There were enough weird and wacky accoutrements to throw a small dinner party, but sadly, no one showed up. Four crackers and no bread? I'm starting to wonder if I accidentally ordered from the "sad snack" menu. The fish and chips? The fish gets a solid 5/5. But the side Caesar salad? -5/5. It was so soggy and overdressed that it could have passed for a salad swimming in its own tears. Those mysterious pork croutons? Let's just say they didn't win any popularity contests. Two of my friends ordered the spinach-mushroom-feta omelette, and if it had a flavor, it must have been on vacation. We were left asking for salt like it was the secret ingredient to rescue our meals. Ambiance? Meh. The new lighting didn't quite brighten the mood, and if the price hikes are meant to pay for the new decor, they should have just left it as is. Honestly, it felt like a "how not to spend your money". Service was a lukewarm 2.5/5. Our waitress, sweet as she was, didn't check in often--maybe she was off tasting the mysterious dishes herself? Given her vegetarian leanings, she couldn't comment on 80% of the menu, which was unfortunate when you're dining out. After years of patronage, we're officially on the hunt for a new spot for our annual girls' day out. Usually, this place is packed, but today it was so quiet. If things don't change, I doubt it'll be around for long. What a sad decline for what used to be a go-to!

Location/Service Stumbled upon this place while doing a day…read moretrip. This spot is right by the river with patio setup in the summer. Inside is very big and can accommodate large groups (best to reserve in advance). You can also sit by the bar if you like. Typical bar and grill setup - I like the little pieces of decor to spruce up the vibe. Staff were very nice, I'd really like the bartender who gave recommendations for first timers and explain the menu. Food Menu has a lot of typical bar & grill items, but with a Newfoundland twists since it's Newfoundland style. So definitely try dishes that are more known on the east end - like Newfie Fries, Lobsters, Cod au Gratin, Newfie Steak Dinner. The steak is a maple leaf bologna and not you're typical meat - more of the saltier and drier side. Newfie fries is a type of dressing that uses bread crumbs and yellow onions - again more of the saltier side, but it matches quite well with gravy as a poutine. Food pricing overall is very standard and not overly expensive. Portion sizes were very generous, had to pack it to go. Overall a good find if you're in the neighbourhood and traveling, great to explore and learn more about Newfoundland food.

I ordered the fish and chips and I've eaten many a fish and chips platter in my day and while the helpings were plenty the taste was seriously lacking. No matter how many times I doused that thing with salt or vinegar , I couldn't get the bland taste to leave. How can fries have such a lack of taste? My wife ordered the pizza and it literally looked like they threw raw vegetables on a pita and put a slab of cheese on it and put it in the microwave to heat it up. It looked and tasted so inedible that my wife who usually isn't one to criticize, sent it back for something else. So she ordered the french beef dip sandwich and when it came out the bread looked like a HOTDOG BUN!?!? Really? Noticed that the menu had what looked like a thousand items on it to order and while I'm not one for expert advice on owning a restaurant as I never have , but from others who have had always said like the old saying goes "sometimes less is more". Service was ok I guess . Will we be returning? To Tillsonburg yes , to this place absolutely not .
