Buyer Beware, Jon the owner came out and quoted work to be done and requested money down for first of the season start up. I gave $1,000 dollar deposit and have had 4 different no shows to start work. Jon then said he was too busy to start project. When asked to return deposit he has "again" excuse after excuse and refuses to return deposit. This has been going on for over a year. I would think twice about placing an order with these guys. No communication, I had to text them 3 times just to leave a deposit. Then when they were to deliver and install, they never messaged me, I had to again contact them. And they didn't show up the 3 times we had scheduled. I again had to text and ask for an update. They came up with several excuses, and no apologies. Karma will get you, no sale for me, I stopped in and got my deposit back. Lack of interest in customer satisfaction will kill any business. I should have read the reviews before doing business with them. I order eight trees from them in Feb '25 and they promised to have them delivered early March. I called/texted several times and they kept saying the truck was delayed and that they would let me know when the trees arrived. No communication. I canceled the order on April 1st and requested a refund, which they said they would issue. They claimed to have mailed the refund several times, but I never received it. I asked them to mail the check via registered mail and to provide me a tracking number, but they refused to provide one. I went to the shop several times and asked for my refund but they kept giving me the run-around (the check has to come from corporate). I finally went to the shop and received my refund May 30, 2025. read more

Great place, great prices and excellent service. You stop in, pick out your palm tree or shrubs and they come and install it. You need mulch ,pine straw , top soil, basically everything you would need to make your home beautiful they have it. And if not John will have it within a week. read more

They are named "Crab" tree for a reason! From the outside this place looks adorable, but after you walk in it is a completely different story. First the staff members didn't greet any of our party of 8 as we passed them. Most of the items appear and are priced as handmade, but they are actually made in China. Also, one elderly staff member yelled at our "well behaved" children for touching a couple of China made back scratcher's saying they were not being sanitary, because they were holding the items in hands. Her herself was not wearing a mask so being sanitary wasn't the issue. She made the children surrender the items before we were able to purchase them. Children are not welcome in this store period. We all left without purchasing any of the cheaply made items. I don't recommend anyone shop here! read more

Well as I said in my last evaluation, I am now getting back after my second VERY SATISIFED encounter with Crabtree. This time they delivered 6 yds of #57 Stone that I needed for drainage in my backyard. The day that we scheduled on was OBE but they called me and asked if they either could reschedule for the next day or that would come on this day but it would be several hours later then what I wanted, so we agreed on early the next morning. 0930 he showed up with my order, very apologetic, but we all know that STUFF HAPPENS and at least he called to let me know what was happening, so NO FOUL. Liars, shisters and vandals! This business has no integrity or regard for personal property! I did not choose to do business with Crabtree garden center, they for no legitimate reason dumped about a ton of mulch on my driveway. When I got home I reviewed video camera to see how it got there and there they were. I contacted them and got a rude gentleman on the phone but they responded with a small tracked bucket loader and proceeded to move the mulch off of my property. During this process they dumped a considerable amount onto my driveway, the tracks of the bucket loader running over the mulch severely staining my driveway, they followed this up by using there leaf blower to litter my yard with mulch debris. John the owners son guaranteed me he would pressure wash my drive to remove the stains they caused on my driveway, gave me dates. The promised dates came and went revived more promises of cleaning my drive of the vandalism they caused on my property. I contacted them on 5 different times and just got lies! So here I am lawn full of mulch that I didn't want and purple stained drive, There is a very good reason this business has a 2 star rating! Ownership has changed hands and you can tell the difference. We met with the new owner and told him our vision and plans for our backyard. He has extensive knowledge in landscaping and pointed us in the right direction. We wanted palm trees/plants to surround our pool and showed him pictures of what we were thinking. He gave us his opinion and explained the growth process of palms and how to get the most out of our plants and how to care for them as well (we are new to SC). Would not use them again...spent thousands of dollars for backyard landscaping. Lost several bushes and could never get them back to replace them or honor any refund. After several phone calls and responses as "it's to hot to plant", " I'm backed up now" and so forth I realized they had my money and they weren't going to do anything else for me. No customer satisfaction. Owner (who does the planting) doesn't care to listen to you. It's his way with a bad attitude. Don't understand how they had stayed in business. Cliff passed my home every day for a week working in a neighbors yard but never stopped to investigate my complaint or make restitution for the dead trees. My daughter was going to hire them until I told her what they did to me. Lesson learned Crabtree, you lost that job so word of mouth can make or break a business. I have made numerous purchases in the past from Crabtree - the plants are always healthy and staff have been wonderful & very knowledgeable. This spring we started a major landscape project in our back yard. We had several Palms delivered and planted. They always arrived on time, took care in planting and informed me on proper care for the varies palms. They are all doing awesome. read more

I only wished I could leave less than one star. Crabtree Garden Center misses the mark on creating the basic horticulture of your most valued and expensive possession. From the poor customer service to the unattentive listening, your ideas can be and will be squandered with their only excuse is that they've done this field for over 20 years. Items will be broken, damaged and in poor quality from the garden center upon delivery with little to no remorse for replacement or rectifying the situation... especially after they've already been paid. Crabtree Garden Center should be highly avoided if you value your home, dignity and your dollar. The owner does not appear to have the social intellect to run a customer based business. Take my advice and DO NOT shop here. The owner Cliff Crabtree is a self centered jerk. I had him come and place shrubs in my yard and was first surprised by the price. For a company that advertises low reasonable prices they were just as much if not more than other garden centers. After cliff planted the shrubs I was at first content with the work until 2 weeks later about HALF OF THEM DIED. My wife called and told them about what happened and Cliff had the audacity to yell at her tell her it was HER FAULT. I held off for over a year in writing this review. Primarily because it was our hope that the owner would complete his work at our property. A sizeable investment later, we were left with a burn pile never removed, tractor equipment that remained on our property for over six months, palets of stone that were never removed, and a damaged/broken entry gate that was never properly repaired by Mr. Crabtree. We've attempted to contact Mr. Crabtree extensively. And he's responded each time with a promise to finish/correct the work, once he completed whatever "big project" he was on at the time. HORRIBLE customer service!! We are currently in the process of searching for Leyland Cypress trees. We stopped here to check if they possibly had any for sale on their lot. I do not know who the man was that we spoke with but he informed us they were no longer carrying those type of trees, if any were there, it would be in the back and 'pointed' us in the direction of the tree. We walked back, there was only ONE tree there leaning against a building and it was brown on many limbs. I wanted to purchase the last tree, in hopes of saving it from dying as it was clearly going to happen just leaning there against the building. The entire backside was already brown, dead limbs. We inquired on the price, were told it was $99. We explained it was the last tree, it was already dying there and asked for a small discount for it. I've been shopping at Cliff Crabtree's Garden Center for over 15 years - in fact, 90% of the shrubs and trees in my yard came from there. Cliff has good products and very good prices. They are so good, that often, especially on weekends, the place is very busy. It's worth the wait! My husband and I built a home in Blythewood, the builder used a well-known landscaping company who did an awful job on our landscaping. We contacted Crabtree Garden Center, who came out to our home, looked at it and told us exactly what we needed to beautify our yard. Cliff and his crew did an outstanding job with the installation of plants, shrubs, trees, and mulch, as well as transferring some of the shrubs and plants that we already had. We have three boys and ended up with a pet bullfrog. We were lost as to how to care for him, and after much research on the internet, we decided we needed to make his new habitat as natural as possible. We looked at some pet stores and all the fake rocks and plants were extremely overpriced, so we stopped by crabtree and ended up finding all the necessary items for his new tank. The lady helped my husband first and gave him a really good deal on some larger stones and we ended up going back a second time for some smaller filler stones and the man helping us just said to take them, no charge. We kept trying to pay and he said he liked the idea of giving a frog a nice home. They were both very nice and helpful. The tank turned out beautiful.
