There's nothing like a great meal when you're on the way home from a long weekend of camping. Worn from a morning of tearing down camp and loading up the vehicles, we stopped in at this Cracker Barrel for lunch. It was quite busy as it was Sunday, but our party of six was still able to be seated immediately by their courteous staff. We were served by Karissa, who was pleasant and attentive throughout the meal. We all ordered something different, and we all thoroughly enjoyed what we were given. I ordered their French Dip, which was a surprise to me when it arrived, dripping with cheese, some kind of sauce, and onions. I soon learned that all my previous experiences with French Dips had been a fraud, and this delicious example was what it was supposed to taste like. Rich, flavorful, with a light, flaky roll and a delicious sauce for dipping, the French Dip was a delight. The chicken soup I had ordered for a side was also incredible, rich and flavorful with the noodles cooked to perfection, I nearly ordered a second bowl but was too full to do so. My mother-in-law ordered a Grilled Chicken BLT and quickly destroyed it. It looked terrific, and she confirmed that it was. The Reuben that was requested by our friend was raved about, and he said he'd have to take his father here, an absolute fan of Reuben sandwiches. One of my fiances, Shannon, ordered their Homestyle chicken that was on special that day, and the portions she received were so large she ended up taking half of it home for dinner. Finally the desserts were ordered, and the Apple Dumpling ordered by my other fiance, Avalon, absolutely stole the show. It was rich and delicious, an absolute decadence made with rich caramel sauce, walnuts, and tender apples all topped with ice cream. Half of this had to go home with us as the portion was simply too large to finish at the restaurant. With drinks, dessert, and dinner the entire meal came to $78.00 for a party of six, so it's also really affordable. One of the toilets was plugged when I went to use the facilities, but it was otherwise clean and accessible. Overall would definitely stop here again. One final note, the store attached to the restaurant was far more dangerous to our pocket books than the restaurant. Shannon spent more there than we spent on the meal. read more

Great food, friendly servers, fun merchandise in the shop area...it's a one-stop perfect restaurant no matter what area on the country you may be in! I place my food order, then browse the store area for bargains and snacks. I usually find a great item such as a shirt for me or my granddaughter, sun glasses, a special cd, even a Penn State nick-back for the college relative. Need more syrup for you blueberry pancakes? I used to work at this cracker barrel location many years ago. Because of that, I remember very well the food the menu the portions etc. I just got done dining here with my friend for the first time in many many years. I'll never eat here again. The wait service was so so. The portions were very skimpy. I know times change, but gee whiz, not that much. I was not impressed at all. The shining part of the entire store is their merchandise displays in the lobby. Only because of that does it get three stars. They have lovely merchandise for a reasonable price. I do wish they would carry larger sizes for the clothing because unless you're thin or up to an extra extra large, which is a large here in the US, you're not buying anything clothing-wise. It must be for just the beautiful people. Having said that, the displays are lovely the merchandise is clean and the prices are fair. The restaurant part however needs a lot of work. read more

I came here with a few friends a couple days ago to get some breakfast. I ordered the grandmas breakfast, and it was very good. I was able to make my pancakes chocolate chip, but they normally don't have any chocolate chips, which is kind of a let down because that's all I ever want for breakfast. I dine at this Cracker Barrel at least once every week. Overall the look is typical Cracker Barrel. They keep the general store well stocked and you can find some nice things and great deals. The food is always hot and served quickly. Portions are large at a good price. I do want to point out the one exceptional thing about this Cracker Barrel. They have a waitress, Roseanne, who is fantastic at her job. She is always friendly and smiling. She is always there no matter what time I go to eat and she never stops working. Another day, another chain restaurant review. I am not going to bore you by telling you ALL about this Cracker Barrel, as if the one you go to in Yourtown, USA is any different. What I am going to tell is, about a half hour after I ate at this Cracker Barrel, I was in a rest stop along I-79 wishing I'd chose starvation over their grilled chicken tenders. I won't paint you a very clear picture, I will just say that I have a stomach of steel. I have never gotten sick from food until today. Food can never be spicy enough, I have eaten at complete dives in the backwoods of Kentucky, and leftovers from my fridge that are days, if not weeks, old. I'm only going to comment on the food, I ordered the chicken with dumplings and gravy, with mashed potatoes and green beans. The green beans were obviously out of a can so they were really soggy and had an extremely bitter flavor from whatever juice they were sitting in. The dumplings were like large flat white noodles, they covered the white chunks of chicken, which I could not see, and were accompanied by a large portion of potatoes, then smothered with a white soupy gravy. Not only did it look awful, it tasted terrible. I don't know why, but the entire flavor was bitter to me, and my one and only bite of chicken was dry under all that white soupy slop and had left a bone or joint in my mouth which I immediately picked out and put upon my plate. Everything was only slightly warm and I could tell it was heated in a microwave. I felt so embarrassed, but I could not bear to eat that meal nor to continue to look upon it, and so I sent it back. I ordered coleslaw, which was fine, as a replacement, seeing as my appetite had been almost ruined. The biscuits were very salty, but still tasted like biscuits, and the cornmeal was okay. Slightly disappointed in this location. For those who don't know Cracker Barrel, it's a restaurant and country store where you can get a home cooked comfort food type of meal. I usually go here for breakfast and always have a good meal. Today I felt like they were rationing syrup and coffee creamer. I was only allowed to have 3 coffee creamers at a time and I usually get 2 bottles of syrup with my pancake meal but this time only 1. I always get the buttermilk pancakes which are my favorite. They have options for turkey sausage and bacon as well which not all places have. The hash brown casserole was very bland today but I think it has been better in the past. This place has gone down hill. Arrived at 10:30 and was told by two different people the wait would first be 45 minutes then by another person 20 mins. We were seated a little after 11:20 and ordered. There was a huge water puddle under our table. 40 minutes in we were given some biscuits. Around 12:30 we were finally eating. Manager was gracious enough to comp our meal after we asked to speak to him. 5 of us went for breakfast. They don't have home fries, so don't bother asking. They dont even have hash brown-- just a hash brown casserole that , trust me, you don't want to order. Two of us had pecan sticky bun French toast, neithery mother in law now my brother in law ate more than 1/3 of it. My mother on law loves sweets but said it was too sweet for her and tasted artificial. The other 3 of us ordered the ham and swiss breakfast casserole that was featured. I knew right after my first bite that it included more than they listed. It included a heaping portion of flour or some chemical version of flour to stretch it. Cracker Barrel was always high fat as atypical of southern cuisine but it used to at least taste authentic. Now anything resembling home cooked food is totally missing from their menu. Cheap cheap cheap...but very pricy; ours was $50 and there was a lot left for the "hog pen". read more
