Tonight we made reservations for axe throwing at 8pm at Craft Axe Throwing on Hampton Ave. I was excited, finally going out and having fun after a long week. Unfortunately we didn't make it past the front desk. The gentlemen who I assume was either an owner or manager or in charge (gray, long, greasy hair and sleeveless shirt and tattoos) rudely kept telling us we didn't need a reservation and was mocking us telling us that "this isn't a fancy dinner place" - as if we did something wrong. He kept repeating it and made us feel really uncomfortable. It's possible he was on drugs, but we decided to leave and not give them our business. It was a really big let down. read more

This is such a fun activity for anyone to enjoy.. (not little kids of course) they can sit and watch haha. Our instructor was super helpful and friendly. Explained the rules, showed us a few games and even showed us the different blades they have that you can pay extra and use which are super unique and fun! We came with a big group however only three of us played but the great thing is that others can join you even if they're not participating, as long as they also fill out a waiver. There's alcoholic and non alcoholic beverages for sale. There's plenty of parking since it's located in a plaza that has other establishments such as restaurants, breweries, classes.. It's definitely something fun to try out with friends, family or on a date.. it is a bit pricey but every so often nice to splurge. They accept all manor cc's and cash, and they sell gift cards! read more

The place is a warehouse feel with chain link fences to keep the axes in the lane and light wood built walls. There's a bar in the back with drinks and some cool raw live edge wood tables to relax at. Located in the cool Hampton Station shopping and dining area next to white duck taco, birds fly south brewery, and due south coffee. Amazing staff. Clean and fun location. Easy and plentiful parking. Transparent rates and flexible options for throwing. We thought this would be a fun date night and it totally was! They have beer available while you are practicing your perfect stances and throws. The staff was extremely passionate about what they do and they gave me all kinds of tips and tricks. The drinks were yummy. We went for 30 minutes and then decided to extend a little bit longer. It is not an expensive hobby and I think it is a lot of fun for the price tag. In the end, I never got any better at axe throwing but it was not from lack of help. I had tons of people trying to help me. It was such a fun time though, I really didn't mind. My SO though...well it turns out he is a natural. If you are good at darts - axe throwing will be similar with just a more deadly aim. We had so much fun! read more

I've been axe throwing once, but in Columbia, so this was my first time at the one in Greenville. It was my birthday and I was able to throw for free! I hit the bullseye on my first throw, must've been birthday luck. But we went around 4p, so it was very empty. This was good for the whole social distancing rules that are currently in place. They do have some domestic beers but their craft beers are pretty good too. I had one that closely resembled a cider but it wasn't well known to me. Like we used to say in the Navy (F Yeah!) What a great idea, on so many levels I could see where this could go awry but really, Beer and Axe throwing! What a brilliant Idea. Go in and use a lane by the half and full hour (Prices in Pics) and have fun. What a cool get together thing to do. Although I did not get the chance this trip the young man at the cash register (working a double because someone called out on a pretty day) after a little prodding was a great guy to talk to and seriously it is work but it is open to the outdoors and it was a great day. I went to Craft Axe on a Saturday night as part of a group of four. My sister and her husband decided to come last minute, so I'd only made reservations for two people, but they just shared the lane with us, so it's good to know that you can reserve a lane and bring a couple of extra people, no problem. It still costs the same ($20 per person, per hour), but having four people in our lane rather than just two wasn't a big deal at all. If anything it broke things up a bit :) Speaking of reservations, you do have to pay half up front and it's nonrefundable, but you DEFINITELY need one for Saturday evening/night. I booked mine Saturday morning and the earliest evening/night reservation I could get was 9:15 PM. By Saturday afternoon, all of the reservations were gone, so the earlier you reserve, the better (not surprisingly). The employees were all super friendly, and as it got later and less busy, one of the instructors even came back around and gave us extra tips. The bar serves beer and ciders, the vast majority of which are from Birds Fly South (not surprisingly as the brewery is mere steps from Craft Axe)...I just wish they had a few other options as I'm not a big fan of BFS beers. At least the prices ($5 per beer, at least for what we were ordering) were decent! At first I was wondering whether we would actually stand around throwing axes for an hour, and I'm sure part of what made the time pass faster is that there were four of us taking turns in the same lane, but when the hour was up I couldn't believe it had gone so quickly! We definitely could have done two hours, sharing a lane like we were (though I don't think I could have done more than an hour if it was just two of us in our lane, mostly because my arms were starting to get a bit tired at the end). I had never been axe throwing before, and I went here for a fun first date activity after dinner. Got checked in easily and efficiently, and a team member walked us over to our stall and showed us all the basics that we would need to know in order to get started and the games we could play to make the most of our time. Very clean facilities and excellent instruction. Zero problem with the facility or front of house staff. But after about 20 minutes of playing, one of the instructors came over and insulted my date, kept winking at me, lent me his personal axe, gave me personal instruction (which I appreciated, but was not offered to my date), and was outright rude and flirtatious in front of my date. Very inappropriate and embarrassing and honestly I will never come back here because of this experience. read more

When I heard there was an axe throwing place located right next to Birds Fly South Brewery, I thought oh this is not going to end well. Drunk people throwing axes?!? Well then I decided to give this a try. Definitely had to get over the fear the axe would come flying back in my direction or fall instead on my foot. We paid for 30 minutes of lane time which gives you a metal fenced in lane with a wooden bulls eye at the end. You can throw two different types of axes. There's different types of games you can play with instructions provided at the lanes. I will say it took me a solid 20 minutes to finally get over the fear of axe throwing and the multiple beers definitely helped. This place is really. It was great to experience axe throwing in comfortable setting.

Best axe throwing experience we've ever had and we really started seeking these places out after stopping in here. The lanes were reasonably priced and the workers are not over bearing like they have been at other similar places. Once they have us our "lesson" we were pretty much left alone. Another great feature here that is rare in others is they had a bar to buy drinks at and while drinking and throwing axes might not seem like a great idea, done in moderation it added to the whole experience. Brought my boss and coworkers here for team building event after long week of meetings. This was a great way for us to relax and socialize while enjoying some friendly competition. They're not taking any precautions for COVID-19. Not even staff were wearing masks or sanitizing anything.

The employees and guests are not required to wear masks when there isn't even CLOSE to 6 feet of distance between everyone. When me and my friend went to the bar to get a drink, both employees (including a manager) behind the bar were maskless. The manager even had the audacity to tell my friend and I to take off our masks as we ordered drinks. Completely unprofessional and unsafe... the US reached record breaking death levels this week. read more

They did an amazing job of communicating and booking the reservation, welcoming us when we got there, explaining how to do it, etc. I can't say enough about the staff and what a great job they did!! This was an awesome experience! I got to the location a few minutes after they opened and we got started right away. My husband and I shared a lane and paid a little over 20 bucks for 30 minutes of throwing time. I was pretty pumped about throwing an axe and so was my hubby so the half hour flew by. It took a little bit for us to get used to throwing but once you did the shop had games posted that you could play while throwing. Either way it was definitely an experience and I wish Columbia would get something like this! read more

This was my first axe throwing experience. I took my family and everyone thoroughly enjoyed it. The staff coached us through with great instructions. Most everyone made a bullseye, and we all want to go back again. I had to buy my own axe to practice in the backyard because this was so fun. I even bought some throwing knives too. They give you a lessons initially on the recommended ways to throw the axes and are available for questions if you have them, but don't hover over you. Unbelievable fun, I felt going in that this would be fun, but it was even more fun than I thought it would be. We did make a reservation for a lane, and the guys there were very helpful even though they were busy. They ga e great instructions on how to throw the axes, the difference between the three, and how ideally they were to be thrown. Visited some friends in South Carolina and we booked a lane here. Out of our group of four this was everyone's first time throwing axes. We did the $20.00 a person for an hour of throwing time. They monitor it by placing a timer where your lane is. There is a bar located in the back to grab a beer if that's what you are into. An instructor will demonstrate how to the the axe and the hatchet and the rules of the establishment so that everyone stays safe. My one problem was that it took our group almost the full hour to really get a hang of how to throw the axes. For the first 20 min 2 of us couldn't even get an axe to stick to the wall. So you could say we weren't really excited to come back. I think if they want repeat customers than they should have people walking around giving tips and advice to make you do better. I kept looking around and no one was there to help my group. Once they explain how to do it they left us on our own. Once we started to get a few to stick at the end of our time we started to enjoy it more. Otherwise, it was a cool idea. Very clean inside. Bathrooms were a little hidden at first but they are located in the front around a corner and down a hall. They were clean as well. read more

Booked for a large team building event using their calendar. Showed up on Tuesday and they are closed. The calendar will let you pick a Monday or Tuesday and # in party and # of lanes and then reserves you for first available date...Wednesday. It doesn't give you any notice the day you chose they are closed. Called and left multiple messages trying to cancel, not a single return call. Finally reached someone during business hours and explained the problem they have with their calendar and that I wanted my 50% deposit back. Stated they would talk to a manager and get back. Crickets! Another try same result, no return call no refund of deposit. Since I plan a lot of these events I can only say that with their horrible customer service, as soon as the newness wears off, the axes will go rusty! read more
