The Park was at the center of the 1982 World's Fair. Today, the park is a beautiful green space for residents and visitors. The Sunsphere and the Amphitheater are the only remaining structures from the World's Fair in the park. The Sunsphere is opened to visitors. The Amphitheater was shuttered for the winter and in need of a facelift. Several interesting architectural features (posts and statue) are located throughout the park. A colorful bridge passes over the park and waterway. The Park is filled with accessible walkways, a water feature/fountain. A rail trail passes through the park for walkers and runners. We found free parking at the south side of the park. I did not see restroom facilities. Dogs on leases are allowed everywhere except in the fountain area.

When we arrived, the staff was friendly and helped us get settled on the water. Two hours was the right amount of time. One hour would have been too short, but we were definitely tired by the end of two. One of the best things about this place is that it's already located on the water. You don't need to worry about hauling anything or finding somewhere to enter into the river. I'll definitely come back when I'm ready to go back out on the river.

I booked a moonlight paddle and from beginning to end, it was Ah-Maze-Ing! The staff was incredible. They were all so cheerful and helpful from check in all the way to check out. We grabbed a beer at the beer porch at check in and let me tell you, this place is adorable. The bar is set up in a tiki style and they offer several beers selections on draft as well as in bottles. After a quick walk down to the water front, we were assisted with getting our paddle boards in the water. We paddled for 2 hours and watched the sun set. The vantage point from river offered beautiful views of the sunset over our pretty city. Once we were finished, we paddled in and were helped out of the water. We never had to carry anything! You can rent paddle boards, single and tandem kayaks, and hydro-bikes. The rates are reasonable, the staff is friendly, and there is so much fun to be had. Oh, and Wednesday's they offer half price rentals!

There's a nearby power plant, that's the visible stack visible in the background. The clinch river is really pretty especially during sunset with the pink hues. I went in mid-April and there were a couple bugs around but nothing that was too terrible. The Greenway is also shaded by the many surrounding trees, so I wouldn't worry so much about the sun. Great place to unwind and take in the nature sights.
