I found this gem on a random Tuesday while on my way to visit a friend at the nearby hospital. I was looking for something quick and simple but, nutritious and filling to eat. I was so surprised to see such a wide variety of empanadas: crab, steak, chicken, shrimp, oxtail, chicharron & etc. It was really hard to choose from all the different filling options available but, I went with the crab and pico (7/10), churrasco (8/10), cheeseburger empanada (9/10), and mori sonando drink (10/10). I would definitely return to try one of the other food options I didn't get to try on this run. The owner took my order and was super friendly. She took her time explaining to me the different varieties of fillings and helped me look over the menu for other food options that weren't empanadas, like mofongo, bbq ribs, and pernil. The restaurant is small but, has available seating for those looking to dine in and has a welcoming ambiance. The Dominican music playing when I arrived was nice to hear and created a nice Carribbean feel to the establishment. read more

So I've been here enough times to still give this local gem five stars. They get five stars for the food, they get five stars for service, they get five stars for overall experience. If you want some fresh empanadas, and I mean fresh because all they use is fresh ingredients and that's what makes them a gem. I recently brought a crab empanadas, shrimp empanada, and some others. When you can find a place that gives you real crabmeat, not imitation at an affordable price because it is still an empanadas, that says alot about what they stand for. They also make everything on the spot. So you do have to wait for your order. They have their menu broken down by the kind of proteins you may want. They have a variety for you to choose from. I personally think you can't go wrong with so many options. There are a couple of high tables and a small area where if you want to dine inside. They made it look very elegant. It was just A-OK. I was very excited to try the different flavors but it could've been better. The 10 assorted empanadas were variations of chicken, cheese, and fruit. The chicken is shredded without any flavors so I would not recommend. The various empanadas with the mango and pineapple felt like it was just stuffed in with the shredded chicken and not necessarily something that was cooked or melded together nicely. Do not recommend the yucca fries - dry, over-fried, and hollow inside. Generous amount of accompanying sauces that made the empanadas taste better. The only item that hit the mark were the sweet plantains. If I were to return, I would try the dessert empanadas. Easy location near buses, walkable, ~15 minutes from the 4/D trains. read more

The empanadas here are super fresh and there's a great variety to choose from! I'm giving 4 stars instead of 5 because there aren't many vegetarian options beyond seafood. They did mention that sometimes the meat is halal, so if you strictly eat halal, it's best to double-check before ordering. I'd personally love to see more veggie-friendly options on the menu--something simple like a plain mac & cheese empanada, or even veggie fillings inspired by samosas/singharas. I think that would really round out their menu, especially since this is a small, cozy, casual spot in a mixed community with a lot of people from nearby schools and hospitals who could definitely benefit from those choices. I came in to source this place for an event I have coming up and I was blown away! I ordered the chicken yaroa empanada (chicken, mozzarella cheese and sweet plantain) and the cheeseburger empanada (ground beef and cheddar). Let's start with texture, crispy crunchy on the outside, the fillings were very flavorful and plentiful- they don't skimp and size wise they are quite large 24oz! Ricky, the owner was really accommodating and took time to explain all the various options for my event. Over all, probably the best empanadas I've had that weren't made by my dad! Every bite! Not my favorite empanada place during my expirience. I think there are a few better options in the area. I went on a Friday afternoon after ordering on Grubhub for pickup with 10 assorted empanandas, Yucca fries, and plantains. The plantains were delightful, and if I were to come back here, I will definately be ordering more of the plantains. The Yucca fries are not something I was really glad to have ordered. It felt like empty calories, a bit overcooked, and hollow on the inside. They weren't soft, nor crunchy, just hard and hollow, like a bad tater-tot, with not much taste. Would not recommed. Unfortunately, I think the chicken was quite dry in the empanada. Not all of them contain cheese, and the cheese felt seperate from the whole empanada so would not recommend. The mango and pineapple chicken empanadas really disappointed. I do wonder what the tres leches empanada taste like. The service was great and understanding. It did take a bit longer then expected for the food to come out, but they were really kind throughout the whole process and provided plenty of sauce. The store itself is small and empty, no one else was in except the two working, and the music was nice. It is air conditioned which was nice while we waited. My main issue was they missed several items in our order even after confirming the order. Double check before leaving the restaurant that all orders are actually given. The Nutella empanada is so messy so be prepared with a plate underneath. The apple cinnamon empanada did not hit as much as I wanted. I cant stress enough how important packing is to me when I order take out. It shows how neat the staff and restaurant are. I had been wanting to order from Craft Empanadas and I finally got the chance to tase some empanadas along with there tacos and fries. Both the cheese burger and chicken & cheese empanada were amazing they were good sizes ( I've been to some restaurants that serve small empanadas) and they were tasty. The shrimp tacos were also well made definitely wish I had ordered more. I think the fries would have been a bit better without the cheese but they were also good. I love anything that's a fried carb and when it's a fresh fried carb, sign me up! They have so many options but I went with 4 different empanadas to try - the chicken cheese, maduro & cheese, spinach alfredo, and chicken pico de gallo. I liked all of them but I would say the pico inside gets messy and the empanada was dripping everywhere. They made everything fresh, except the chicken cheese, which they already had prepared. But it still was very crispy and tasted hot & fresh. I think they heated it up. The sauce that comes with the empanada is a sweet & sour sauce but I would've preferred a spicy sauce (my fault for not asking for it because I heard another customer ask for it). My sister wanted to hit up a spot with empanadas and thank God for Yelp we were able to find a few spots. Due to Covid, a lot of places closed early but we were blessed the find CRAFT Empanadas Location: Decent area, great hours and restaurant standed out from the block. Customer Service: OMG! The owners were beyond amazing and welcoming! I felt instantly @ home and was treated as if I've been here before but it was my 1st time. They were very patient, informative and went above and beyond. They even assisted me with a weird request and made me and my sister's entire day. Food: So everyone knows I love variety and can be picky af but why this spot was too perfect for a person like me. C'mon they have over 100 empanadas flavors like WTH! this felt unreal lol. I wish I could ordered them all but finally a place for people whom don't consume meat can still find a food item without looking too picky lol. Plus they have empanadas with avocado OMG! Customer service was great. The chicken & cheese empanada was awesome. But the two other flavors were not it. The cheese pizza empanada was bad because the sauce is completely wrong. You guys need to go to an Italian pizza spot and ask them about sauce. You need to get rid of that sauce forever. The cheese was on point and perfect so there is potential there. I decided to order some Craft empanadas from GrubHub, and was immediately impressed and overwhelmed by all the choices, but definitely in a good way! They have seafood empanadas (including lobster) vegetarian empanadas, dessert empanadas, along with the usual chicken and beef kinds. I ordered many different types to try a wide variety and also so I can freeze some as snacks/dinner/dessert...because they are perfect for any and every meal, lol! My absolute favorite (so far) is the Beef Yaroa (ground beef, cheese and sweet plantain--amazing!) The chicken Yaroa is also yummy! I still have some others left and look forward to eating them over the rest of the week, but I'll probably finish them a lot sooner than that, I think! I used to order from this place often, however today i was in the area and decided to stop by. Got a juice and a pizza empanada, what a mistake. It was mostly burned on the outside and the cheese didn't even melt. I got a passion fruit juice, we all know its not natural but its was just ice with orange coloring and sugar. The music is way too loud which is very distasteful, and then the service. The lady was pleasant enough until i pointed out that the empanada wasn't fully cooked. She did offer a replacement but it was obvious the neither her or the guy cooking wanted to be there in the first place, let alone work. If the food were tasty i wouldn't mind the attitude so much, but didn't have a pleasant experience. The time i wasted coming in here is more precious then the money i spent. read more

Ordered the beef chimi through ubereats. Came at a decent time and food was still warm. The chimi tasted different than what I'm used to. It had mozzarella cheese and the seasoning was different. Found this nearby spot on yelp when leaving the doctor's office. It's a small space, with one cook. It can get busy, and the more people that come in, the longer they will have to wait for their order. As I ordered my food, the prices that were on the yelp menu, wasn't the same price in the establishment. Everything was between $1-2 more. They need to update thier menu price so that there will be no confusion. Also, there are no menus, or menu boards. You have to scan your phone in order to see a menu. As far as the food goes, there is a variety of tacos, & empanadas. I got the lobster crab, shrimp tacos, which were all f AMAZING in taste. The steak tacos were okay. I was given a sample of their vitamin c juice which consist of mango, pineapple, and passion fruit juice. I am going try, and make that at home; it was good. The wings are good but the tacos are offensively bad. I ordered via uber eats last night and 4 different people all hated the chicken taco. The meat was compared to tasting like tuna fish. Very low quality meat on the taco. I am pretty sure they use canned or scrap meat to make it. It's very disappointing to have someone charge you money for something that terrible. read more
