The empanadas were the best I've ever, ever had. Crispy outside. Great filling to ratio. Seasoned well. Not oily. The flavor was soft and delicate. The sangria was delicious. I highly recommend. The blackberry margarita was outstanding. Almost had a hint of a michelada to it. We ordered the platano relleno. Definitely order that. Again the best one I've ever had. Sweet, fresh and the juxtaposition of seasoning to meat and cheese and plantsin was beyond delicious. They also have good Columbian sodas. The apple and cola weren't overly sweet. The pork chicharon ceviche was again the best I've ever tasted. The chicharon here is impeccable. The onions weren't soggy and weren't potent. The blended well with the citrus and chicharon. The bandeja paisa was outstanding. Every protein was cooked perfectly. We ordered steaks that were juicy. The veggies amazing. The cgar grilled tasted yes. Stopped by for a quick lunch with my sister and son after walking around the Bronx Zoo. They have an awesome reasonably priced lunch menu that ranges from 10 to 12 bucks. This is a local bronx spot that is absolutely super cute. First off the folks in there are just so friendly, and the food is pretty yummy! I went there one time for my birthday and I liked it so much that I wanted to come back. My friend actually brought me here initially and asked me to be her bridesmaid! In the picture I have posted on here you can see the mini empanadas, which is my go to favorite, they have so many! The service was great. They were close to closing and they still accommodated us and didn't make us feel rushed. I only tried 3 things. One was the chicharron appetizer that came with Guac and tostones. Super fresh guac and tostones. The chicharron was also fresh and flavored well. I had a guava and cheese empanada and a steak and onions. They were both delicious. I also had a tres leche cake that I didn't take a picture of but it's cool cause it wasn't great. We were so happy to find a vegan friendly restaurant in the Bronx. La Masa has a welcoming bakery/restaurant vibe with slow reggeaton planning in the background. We came the end of January so the decorations were Valentine's Day themed with dim lights on the ceilings There were many options to choose from and options to sub meat meals with meatless ground beef. If you are coming for alcoholic drink they have some great cocktails as well. We both ordered the arroz con meatless ground with a side of beans and everything was seasoned well and tasted amazing. Ordered UberEats from La Masa. I got the Picada platter which came with 4 different meats & 3 different starchy Veg (Yuca,Potato,Tostones,Maduro). I also got a side order of yellow rice. The little potatoes in the picada were so cute lol Overall the taste was A1! I also ordered a side of avocado, but they did not have it available so I was offered a refund. My daughter got the chicken fingers with fries and the fries were made out of real potatoes, not the frozen kind. Yummy I wish I took a picture to upload but I was so hungry that I forgot to snap one. This restaurant is one of the most welcoming places I have visited in all of New York City. I was recovering from a tooth extraction when I walked in the door. It's tiring to have to think of "smushy" foods to eat 35x a week. I told the waitress that I just wanted the best smushy food on the menu. She brought me a fried plantain topped with cheese with a side of red beans and rice. Delicious with perfect serving sizes. I also told her I wanted a mug of coffee, half of which was milk. Literally everyone gets this order wrong. They hear "half-and-half", they give me black coffee, they assume by half, I mean three splashes. People get this order wrong so often that a lot of times I just don't even bother expressing what I wanted. She nailed it. I left the restaurant to catch a bus to downtown Manhattan. Incredibly long story short, I never made it back on the bus. My phone ran out of batteries, there were bus stops that didn't exist, buses I boarded that went the wrong way. A big disaster. So I was riding yet another bus when I saw this restaurant on the horizon. Cell phone dead, no way of telling my ballet instructor that I'm not going to make it to the performing arts center, no cabs to hail, no way to call for an Uber. I decided to get off the bus to find my nice "smushy" food waitress again. I walk in, and she is not behind the counter. Oh no. Now what? If you can believe it, this restaurant employs at least two nice young women. A girl named Laura called me an Uber, and insisted that I don't even need to reimburse her?! I made it to the performing arts center at 2:43 for a 2:45 PM arrival, only thanks to this incredibly compassionate woman who works there. GO! read more

Really enjoyed my time here. The food was excellent. Thr chicken noodle soup +was delicious! The empanadas and yuca fries were on point with the right type of crisp. The arepas were amazing as well! The waiters didn't rush us out and even made accommodations when a mistake was made. So glad my friend and I finally got a chance to go here for the first time since it's opening. I had enjoyed the restaurant on Morris Park many times, also love the vegetarian options, I brought my family many times. Went to the La Masa on Tremont ave and Bruckner, ordered apps, meals and drinks, myself and guest both had drinks that had Blackberries in it. Several hours later, my guest became extremely ill, buckled over in pain and violently ill. I thought I was safe from being ill, but at 2 am, I also started to be sick from both ends, for several hours. I contacted the Restaurant the next day 3 times, just to ask that they do not serve the Blackberries to anyone else, and have manager call back to confirm this. No call, I called the following day, no response from morris park or Tremont. I then went to Morris Park location 3 days later, still no response? I reported the Food poisoning to the Health Department and hope no one else became sick. I was not looking for anything just an apology, but no response. You lost a long time customer. read more

Between La Masa's style and food, I'm not sure which one I like more. I'll be frank with you, I'm not even going to pretend I know Colombian food...because I don't. As a matter of fact, this is actually the 2nd Colombian restaurant I've visited.....in my life. First one over in Queens- but this right here, is a unique breed and I'm liking it. Really digging Masa's modern design with a mix of woods and the Greyish/Brownish flooring. What also caught my attention- are those huge metal letters against orange walls, plus their lighting, adds a soft feel. This is the kinda place where you'd want to linger just a bit and enjoy your food. Place isn't tiny and looks like you can score a seat. But it's probably best to take it to go because seating seems like it could be somewhat limited (especially at night). Masa honors traditional Colombian cuisine such as Arepas, Empanadas, Bandeja Paisa, etc. Almost all their dishes call for a chicken, beef or pork- but, there are some, where you can substitute for Seafood. What struck a note is how they give their menu a Vegetarian and Vegan twist (love it). Large selection of Starters, Salads, Entrees, Sides and some Colombian Beverages. Mom and I got there a bit past 11:30 and Breakfast menu looked nice. She decided on a "bandeja" (tray) with steak, sausage, chicharron, Fried Egg, Arepa topped with Cheese and a Red Beans & Rice side dish. It was hard for me to narrow down menu options- because all their Seafood, Vegetarian & Vegan options- sounded good. My Maduro Huevón in the end, was ultimate: a whole Sweet Plantain, slit from end to end, stuffed with Scrambled Eggs and topped with Colombian Cheese. That sucker was real good. The Sweet Plantain (looked broiled) had nice char, crispy where it had to and full of sweet! Also, with a mixed Rice & Beans side dish. Masa wouldn't be complete without Dessert and their few selections sounded real good too. Not a total fan of Flan, but I was eyeing their Passion Fruit version. Turns out, they were out and instead, had a fantastic 'Berry Fool' look-alike! Our server Ivana, was heaven-sent and had the most pleasant vibe to make our morning-afternoon memorable. I'm not a Colombian food connoisseur- but everything seemed to be spot on. I like Masa's mission in this Italian section of The BX. But don't sleep on La Masa- this is an excellent and creative Colombian spot in Morris Park. Mercy-approved! read more
