Could have used some atmosphere but there was a fair few folks here watching inside and outside . They also allow dogs ! Had a nice glass of Prosecco here. They also have some bar snacks . This place has a great atmosphere. We came here for a few after dinner drinks. Ended up leaving with a few drinks for later, also. I had a cider made in Durham. My husband had a local beer (sorry guys I didn't get the name). We were pleased with the selection they offered, including a wide selection of N/A options. Outside, they had a food truck. Plenty of comfortable places to sit, and the staff was friendly. Oh- I almost forgot- they have plenty of cushioned patio furniture on their back porch, also. I didn't grab photos of that. I honestly don't know much about beer other than basics like Guinness is dark and I don't like IPA's. That's a good starting place but I need help afterwards in order to avoid bitter beer face. The staff here know their stuff and are happy to share knowledge. Beyond a friendly, helpful staff the place is just a chill spot in general with lots of outdoor seating options and a rotating option of food trucks showing up on the regular. We most recently hit up the Lobster Dogs truck on a Wednesday and enjoyed yummy seafood with our brews. A nice spot to have in H-ville for sure. read more

Such a fun place to visit and they have amazing drinks! They don't have food unless they have a food truck on site but you can bring food. The neighborhood hang out. My wife and I love this place. We randomly stopped in over a year ago when we moved into the area and we have made it one of our go-to spots. The staff is great including Bob the bar manager. The taps are constantly rotating, and you know they are clean because these guys service local bars in cleaning their beer taps, lines, and equipment. They not only offer draught beer, they also offer select canned beers from a cooler and a wide assortment of craft beer to take home. Crafty is located in a converted home and has a great front porch/patio area. It's great during the late afternoon after the sun has gone down behind Craftys. They also just recently built a back patio! We have not indulged in this yet, but look forward to checking it out soon. Six out of five stars. read more

This is clearly the premier bottle shop in North Mecklenburg county and I will make this place a weekly stop going forward. They have an excellent curated selection full of local classics and carefully selected rarities from all over the country. Meeting new people at brunch last Sunday we decided to take a walk around the corner to Crafty Brew Guys. Few people were there when we three walked in the bartender was friendly, charismatic and full of information There was a man sitting on a barstool with his dog sitting in the next chair? After asking a couple of questions found out they do not serve food so animals are allowed. Thinking this over it dawned on me I could take Vino for a walk here. We both win, he gets out of the house and I get an adult beverage. Tonight was an early visit bieng the observer saw family's with kids, couple's and singles here for a beer or two before moving on. All kinds of bottled beer can be found here on the shelf or chilled in about two minutes. For those gluten free ciders are available as well as one regular. Not being a fan of ciders (20 yrs. ago) due to the sweetness was pleasantly surprised when introduced to two ciders a 1911 Raspberry and a Cherry Bomb? The 1991 was the favorite bieng light, slightly sweet and tangy at the same time. Tonight found out there is also a Pear cider that is not a sweet as others definitely will try. If your not sure of what you want was also told "pull one from a four pack they will price it individually". Have one now but say you want one for later you can buy it to go room at room temperature or chilled! Cash and cards are accepted. read more

I've been here several times and I must say the staff is not very welcoming or friendly. It seems to me very the regulars get the all the attention and good service that all customer should receive. When you ask for a taste of different beers on draft it always seems as if you are bothering the bartender. I just love this place. I'm usually up in the Huntersville area on Saturdays in the late morning and early afternoon. Located in an old house close to the little downtown and Discovery Kids this place is awesome. Even early on a Saturday Crafty's is open, the bar staff is great, they have a rotating selection of beers and have a vast and broad selection of bottles and cans to meet your desires. The beer is fresh and we enjoy sitting outside on the front porch and chillin over a beverage or two. There is also always a BBQ truck when we are there that is good. They have a front patio and recently added a rear deck. Highly recommend! read more

I've definitely had my eye on this place for a while now- not like full-on creep, but half creep maybe. Like a classic facebook stalk. But anyyywayyyy, this is one of those places you drive past 100 times (always when you're busy doing whatever else) and are always like "Yep. I need to get over there and try out that fresh bar/ house... or "barse"... or the northern Beer Temple... clone... in a... house version.", or what-have-you. Well the other day I finally I made it a point to go in this direction solely to check things out and was fairly impressed to say the least. This place has a great variety of bottled beer and a good amount (over a dozen) of beer on tap, including two lines they keep on a "beergas" mix. I'm an avid stout fan so seeing this is always a big plus in my book. Then of course, beergas goes well with select other beers also. Considering the stock of bottled beer in relation to the spacial constraints, or lack thereof, I'd be surprised if I went in looking for a particular craft beer and didn't walk out with it. The fact that this place is modified from an actual home on the main, or one of the main roads in Huntersville brings an overly cozy, yet still "centraled" feel to your elegant drink session. The outside porch and seating in the front is absolutely great on a fair-weather day. Highlights at a glance- full craft beer bottled selection, bar with over a dozen drafts, couch (interior), tv's, books on beer by author Michael Jackson (who knew the dude was a beer connoisseur too, right?), front outdoor porch, lawn chairs and tables, cornhole, grill set-up, pizza joint 2mins up the street for deliveries, etc. The place has a great staff, and occasionally hosts tasting events with breweries such as Birdsong. read more

Since my experience consisted of milking two high-alcohol-content beers that I had never heard of, sitting at a table and talking about the potential for alien lifeforms since there are 100 billion galaxies in existence and discussions about the best way to drive to Pittsburgh from Huntersville, I have nothing further to add. read more

Kudos to her for taking pride in her business, but you shouldn't have to call our customers about YOUR business if the model was setup correctly and employees spoke about what Crafty Beer Guys ACTUALLY is. Anyways, on to the review: Pretty cool that it's set in a "home". Gives it that comfortable feeling. We always start off with a flight to try the brewery's beers, however was disappointed to learn Crafty Beer Guys doesn't do flights! On the flip side, the lady working the counter asked if we wanted to try some beers instead. So it worked out as we didn't have to pay for what would of been a smaller flight. However I think it's a huge missed business opportunity. Just feel this brewery isn't up to par as some of the other local ones like Primal, and Ass Clown or D9. ****EDIT**** I was quickly contacted by the owner and made aware this is NOT a brewery and just a place to taste. When asked about growlers, they don't actually sell their own Growlers.You can recycle a growler there in exchange for one free beer. Pretty cool idea. Those are the growlers they use if you want to take home some beer. Again I fee flip sided about this. It's cool because they can cut costs on product by having to buy growlers. But yet that's free marketing and publicity... All I saw was Ass Clown and other local brewery growlers. Same thing goes for the glasses we drank out of, they were all from other breweries or events in or around Charlotte. That's just helping out other breweries and hurting them self. Not a good look when you walk out carrying growlers full of other businesses. I can't really rate the beer, as I had a cold and couldn't taste or smell it really. The friends I was with, said they were nothing special. ****EDIT**** the owner also told me all the beer they serve comes from other places and none are in fact there own. Kind of sad when the server doesn't even tell us that. They had a jabenero beer advertised as upcoming, but when asked when it launches, the response was "when the tap kicks"... However that doesn't make sense, since the owner messaged me saying they don't brew any beer... Overall I feel like the business model is poor for this place, and isn't really setup to maximize profits. I did like how they were opened on Sunday when other breweries in the area are not. We were greeted by a not so friendly staff member. I let her know it was our first time there and she did not give us a welcoming feel, or explained how anything works. I had the red ale that was very tasty, my husband had some sort of pumpkin beer and my friend had a lighter ale. They do have wine tasting also with plenty of seats. No one was wowed by our visit and we probably will not be back since there are better places to get beer with friendlier staff members. So far, I've been here just a few times. I'm not thoroughly impressed but I wouldn't stop going. They are one of the few, if not only, bottle shops in the area. The only other one I know of is the DBC in Davidson. Crafty Beer Guys is located in an old nondescript house on the corner and if not for the big sign out front it would be easily missed. Outside they have a few picnic tables lined up and some corn hole boards available for play. They're also dog-friendly. There's a front porch with additional seating. Inside you'll find floor-to-ceiling shelves of bottles and cans lining the walls of the front room (read: living room). This goes back to the last room of the house along the left side. There's seating throughout where space is available. To the right of the entry is another table with a few coolers surrounding it for fresh cold beers if you want to drink and hang out. Last of all, just beside that is a small bar where you can either pop a squat and drink something on tap, fill a growler or just pay for your bottles and bounce. I honestly haven't found the staff super helpful here. It seems like they only ever have one person running the place and they've got their hands full or they're pal'ing around with some of the patrons at the bar talking gravity and hops and all that technical stuff. I've honestly not often felt too warmly welcomed here. Maybe because I always buy beer and head home and I've never been here to hang with a group. On the price side, it's not so different from beer anywhere else. Most bottles are at least $2 and of course that goes way up depending on the size and the ABV among other things. In any case, this isn't a scathing review and I encourage anyone around to give the place a shot. read more

Crafty has been a favorite hang out for about 3.5 years since I moved to Huntersville. Lately things have changed and not for the better. Beer selection on tap seems to be less and less interesting. Now they serve the beer in plastic cups rather than glasses. Also seems like they have forgotten what made them special. It used to be a cool place to hang out and talk about and enjoy beer. Simply put, I dig this place. It's an old home in the old section of Huntersville that has been converted to provide a few taps, wine and craft beer bottles. The place has separate rooms for people to sit and enjoy their drinks as well as a couch in front of a fireplace with an original NES hooked up to a TV above it. That is a cool plus! If the weather was better we would have loved to hang out on the front porch too. Just a cool atmosphere all around. Not much room in the bar area for seating and the craft beer selection, while great, isn't stocked full of really rare beers but still full of great ones all the same. Highly recommended. read more

You pull into the parking lot and walk around to the front of the HOUSE and meet your fellow neighbors and new friends hanging out on the lawn, porch or the many rooms inside. We loved the wine on tap (took me back to Italy and the vino sfusos...check one out if you go) and all the beer selections. Very laid back place. You can smell the beer as you enter the doorway. They also have the supplies you need to make your own homebrew. They have growlers for $10 and you can fill them for $15 or $18 depending on the brew. I attempted to convince them to do the same for the wine. Not sure they went for that (again, reference vino sfuso in Italy). We met some pretty cool folks on our first visit. So, I grew up with these plaid couches. Same ones that we had when I was a kid. Made my first stop really cozy, and awkward when Chris greeted me and the first thing out of my mouth was, "That's my couch!!" Keep your eyes peeled on your way here, its just in a little house and easy to miss. But park around back and your night will be made. Cozy, welcoming, and full of craft beer. Constantly rotating taps keep things fresh, with a focus on local beers - what's not to love?! They don't have everyyyy six pack you could ever want, but most of them. They don't do food, but you can bring in your own. Awesome front yard and porch just wraps the whole thing up in a really cool vibe (sometimes hard to find in Huntersville! heh). This is right down the street from Donna Downey's art studio, and close to 77. Easily accessible. Definitely stop in when you get a chance! read more

I have been here a few times, and always have fun. It is an old house and all of the rooms are open to sit in and enjoy a beer. They have several board games, books, and TVs. The beer selection is great! They have countless bottles to choose from and also several beers on tap. There is a spacious patio with nice ceiling fans to enjoy a beer on a warm day. There is also a large wine room, with many varieties of wine. They do not offer food, but some of the local restaurants deliver here, which makes it extremely convenient to have a whole meal or a quick bite. I love the laid back feel of this place. Similar to cabo fish taco being my go to restaurant when visitors are in town, this is my go to place to grab a drink. While not nearly as extensive as say a Flying Saucer, their draft list is always changing and always solid. If they don't have what you are looking for on draft, check out their impressive selection of craft beer bottles. Want to try a little bit of everything? No problem, you can mix and match bottles to get exactly what you want. I think what I like the most about this place is that it's a converted home. It reminds me of going over to a buddy's house back in college (only much cleaner!). You have NES hooked up inside, alternative 90's rock music playing over the speakers, and corn hole set up in the lawn outside. Very cool concept, which is why I think it resonates with so many people. While I've not used it, there is a grill outside next to the porch that I believe people can use if they want. Another nice perk if you want to make an afternoon/evening out of it. We've also ordered pizza from Mama's pizza (just up the road) and had it delivered. The only downside is that parking can gets bit tight when they get busy. There is a parking lot directly behind the house but when that gets filled up you'll have to park elsewhere. read more
