I moved to Miami in the not too distant past and needed to get a good PCP. I did some internet searching with the hopes of finding a doc focused on integrative medicine - and Dr. Silver was listed on a site for integrative and functional medicine. I wanted to try to avoid the whole normal doctor's visit, you know: hang in the waiting room forever, sit in the examination room forever, have a 5 minute conversation with the doctor, and be shoved out the door really no better than how I walked in. I'm not sure what's up with that integrative medicine website, or the almost 4 stars that I saw on another site... because I was not impressed. First, I waited in the waiting room for an hour and a half. In their defense, I was 20 min late b/c I had trouble finding the place and had NO IDEA how crazy traffic would be since I do not know the area. But an hour and a half wait? No. Then I did that annoying first conversation with the doctor where he didn't look at me and typed on the computer the entire time. Then a short physical, and done. The techs did the ECG (why?) and the blood work that I asked for (kinda). I wanted a full thyroid panel. Did I get that? No. When I went to check out, they told me that the doc wanted me to schedule a mammogram. Um? NO. First of all, did you tell ME that? No. Second, I'm only 40 years old with no issues. I'm not exposing myself to x-rays (and pain) for no reason. Plus, it's not suggested to start screening until 50 years old. Come on! Then what was even more annoying is that when the lab work came back, they had the lab tech tell me what the doc wanted. They said my LDL is high. So what? My HDL was also high, and the RATIO is what is important. Not to mention, it's generally accepted that high LDL (on it's own) is not a predictor for heart disease in someone that has no history of heart problems. Well, I promise you, I have no history: ECG - normal; heart rate: 58; blood pressure: 110/80. So you want me to go on a low-fat diet b/c I had a slightly elevated LDL? HELP! Then they also told me that I should start taking vit B12. Okay, I can do that. But what are you basing that on? The fact that my MCV is 100.2 where normal is 80-100. Really? How about getting a little more information before telling me to take something that I may or may not actually need/want. Not to mention, I've had this problem forever. Does it help for me to take vit B-12? History says no. Please ask me next time. At least have a nurse call me that knows how to have a conversation about lab values. The lab tech had absolutely no idea. It's not her fault - as it's not her job. But don't call me making poor recommendations that you can't discuss. It's absurd. I'm glad that I know enough to question the doctor's suggestions... but not all people do. And because of that, I cannot suggest using this doctor. It's not so much the doctor, but the entire experience. It was not a good one. And I will not be going back. Also, let me state for the record that this doc is in Aventura next to the hospital. So you also get to pay for the parking associated w/ the 2+ hours that you'll be spending for an appointment here. First hour of parking is free. Ha. Where do i begin. First of all i believe most of the positive reviews he has are fake. i say this because i know several people personally who also experienced his awful, rude staff and his terrible bedside manners and i cant imagine someone enjoying being treated this way. Second Dr. Silver allowed medical students into the room and closed the door before even asking if that was alright. not everyone likes to be part of a lesson. But my biggest issue is that even after discussing my allergies with him and the THREE medical students in the room he still managed to prescribe me a medication i was allergic to, and if it wasn't for the pharmacists picking up on it and warning me i would have taken it. When i called to speak with him his staff took my message and instead of the Doctor returning my call one of the staff did to tell me that the doctor apologizes and that it is only a small component of the medication he prescribed me that i'm allergic to.. who cares if its a small component! i have a severe allergy to sulfa drugs and you prescribed me a sulfa based medication! if you thought this was the worst of it you thought wrong!!! I came to Dr. Silver before going on a hiking trip overseas and asked for medical advice, he prescribed me an antibiotic to take "just in case" completely forgetting to mention that this antibiotic has The black box warning on the U.S. FDA-approved ciprofloxacin label, warning of an increased risk of tendinitis and tendon rupture!!!!! To someone who is about to go on a 20 day TREK!!!! I don't think Dr. Silver is a responsible doctor, and i urge you to go somewhere else!!! read more

Ok let me start from the wonderful (and probably fake) reviews on other site. Seriously fake. Two times in this office, both time bad experience with the receptionist, nurse and staff in general. It seems to stay in US with the quality services of Bogotà. Today I didn t make the visit, i decided to quit after 1 HOUR AND A HALF of waiting. Appointment 12 o'clock, I left 1:30. Is this normal???? This is ridiculous. And to do what, to be visited for 5 minutes? To deserve people waiting more than an hour at least you have to be one of the best specialist in the US. Sure not a PcP. I asked about the refund of copay and they were so surprised. I guess why I have to pay for i service you didn t give to me?? Who will pay my time??? After that I also pay 3$ parking. To do what? Just wasted time. My first visit in Craig Silver's office was 1 hour wait. At least it was the first visit, could have a kind of excuse.. but today, Omg, today was an experience of the worst customer service ever. For a minute i forgot to stay in the US.. stay away from this office. Trust me, just time wasted. From tomorrow I will start over again my search with another PcP. read more

No personality. No bedside manner. Long wait in the waiting room. Had my appt with Dr. Silver July 10. They did an ekg and took some blood. I called 2 wks later bc i wanted the results of my blood work and they couldn't find them. I also needed paperwork faxed over to my insurance company for precertification of a medication I'm on. They neglected to do that too after calling twice and giving them the fax number. I'm back to review my labwork, August 4th, and they still don't have the results. Went for my 3 month follow up visit with dr silver, saw him only once before this visit. It's now over 2 weeks and I still don't have a referral to my Cardio. I asked that the new Rx's be faxed over for " Mail" order as I get a much better discount but that never happened!! Humana faxed an Rx request 2 weeks ago that has yet to be answered by the Drs office. Two visits, no EKG???? I'm 58 with heart problems and 2 stents since 2007. What are they thinking??? read more

Very attentive Doctor and staff. I have never felt rushed during my visit and Dr. Silver always pays close attention to my concerns. Exam and treatment options always feel appropriate. Waiting room times are generally reasonable and getting appointments easy. While other reviews mention that medical students are sometimes present during your examination, you are always asked in advance if that is 'ok'. If you are uncomfortable with them being in the room then simply decline their presence. Personally their presence has never bothered me. read more

Please read this review before booking an appointment with Dr. Craig Silver. After countless hours of research for a good Primary care doctor I contacted Dr. Silver's office to book an appointment for a physical and general checkup. It had been well over a decade since the last time I went to the doctor for a physical so I figured it was about time. Upon my arrival I completed a pile of paper work which I guess is typical for new patients but it seemed excessive. The wait time was not longer than expected (about 10-15 minutes) then a nurse called me back to take my height, weight, blood pressure etc. I then sat in an exam room for another 15 minutes. Another nurse came in to hook up the EKG; after that was done I was sent to another room and waited about 15 minutes for blood to be drawn. This nurse also took a cotton swab to the inside of my mouth which seemed strange but it had been so long since my last Dr. visit I did not question it. LOOKING BACK I SHOULD HAVE QUESTIONED THIS PROCEDURE. Dr. Silver ordered a genetic test (before I even saw him) which I DID NOT request and as it turns out, is not covered by most insurance. Weeks later the bill shows up in the mail stating I owe over $2000 for the test. I first contacted the Insurance Company only to learn that had Dr. Silver followed protocol which requires him to get a pre-certification he would have been told this test is not covered. I then contacted Dr. Silver's office to see what could be done to resolve this bill. The person I spoke with said she has been receiving numerous calls about these tests. She divulged that some patients had bills in excess of $6000 for similar procedures and in each case it was not covered by insurance. She told me the company that performed the lab work will not 'bill' me but rather charge off the debt. I asked to get this in writing and she would not provide it. I said to her that a charge off will negatively impact my credit report to which she replied, "I am Sorry". Uggh. I asked her if should could provide me the contact information for the lab, she said she will call me back. Guess what, 6 days later and still no call back. I later learned Dr. Silver was aware that this procedure was not covered by insurance but performed it anyway on countless patients. I am now disputing this with the lab and will be taking this matter to the AMA (American Medical Assoc). One week after the initial appointment I went back to review the lab results (this was before I knew the genetic test was not covered). Dr. Silver ran through about 30 pages of lab results in about 8 minutes. Told me to take vitamin B-12, vitamin D and fish oil [ but did not tell me why] and to come back in 6 months. I guess I was expecting a more comprehensive consultation but he quickly left the room and it was on the next patient. Dr. Silver is the best doctor I have been to in a long time. I was looking for a doctor who takes the time to listen to you and doesn't rush you out of the room. Dr. Silver was exactly what I was looking for. He is one of the few sole practitioners who still sees all his patients and is available anytime day or night. He was very knowledgeable and very caring. He had great bedside manners and was very friendly. I waited about 10 minutes in the waiting room, but he spent a long time addressing all my health concerns. I was very happy with his office staff and I wouldn't go anywhere else. I Have been a patient with Dr. Silver for over 20 years, and VERY happy! I have watched this office grow, not only larger but the an amazing team that works with him. Marilyn, has been with the office when it was in Hollywood, and I must say i am so happy she has stayed in this office. This group of professionals treats you not like a patient, or a number, but like family. This office, from the first time I went ,reminded me of my hometown Dr's office, that was down the street in his home. The staff is always friendly, asks about my family, and I have never had to wait more than 15 minutes. Even if I had to wait 25 or 30 minutes, I know it is because Dr. Silver is LISTENING to his patients and not booking so many he has to hurry you out the door. Another thing I like about his office, is that he is a mentor for medical students. I am happy these new Dr.'s to be are getting experience from Dr. Silver. They can only become better doctors, because of his influence!. Dr. Silver, is my primary care doctor since 2009. He is always genuinly concerned about my health and well being. He is very well educated and he always takes the time to listen to me. He is very kind and always goes the extra step. He never rushes out of the room. He has the best bedside manners I have ever experienced from a doctor.
