I had the best experience with Zane!!! I had never been to a "real salon" before and was anxiously excited for my appointment. I got some dimensional highlights and a long haircut, and this experience was one of the best/most comfortable experiences I've ever had with a hairstylist. Firstly, the salon itself is so warm and welcoming. You never feel out of place and everyone I interacted with is so incredibly kind. The seats are also very comfortable. Zane was extremely knowledgeable and happily answered all of my questions. It made me absolutely confident that they knew what they were doing and I loved learning more about haircare/coloring/styling. Truly an artist AND chemist haha! They also were super precise and constantly made sure that I was comfortable with what they were doing and I liked it! They were even sweet enough to schedule a follow-up appointment to make some color adjustments after we were done because I was so indecisive and didn't truly know what I wanted until after I saw the end product and realized I wanted more highlights than I initially asked for. Zane also continued to answer my questions after my appointment was over when I was figuring out what color-safe products to use. I'm telling y'all, Zane is SO KNOWLEDGEABLE. The prices were also super fair and Zane made sure to break everything down for me, so I knew exactly what I was paying for and made sure I was comfortable before we started the process. I've lived in Austin for 25 years, and this is one of the worst experiences I've had with a local business. The highlight service I had was good, but on my second visit, I was charged $150 more than I expected, for services we had not agreed on. When I went to pay and was notified of the total, I asked to speak to my stylist or the owner of the salon about this. I was clearly very upset and said so, but the receptionist was cold and simply said I'll let them know. My bill was over $450 instead of the $300 range I was expecting, based on my previous visit. Even though both the owner, Craig, and Eddie, my stylist, were sitting within view, nothing was done to adjust this charge for a "treatment" that I had not agreed to and had no idea was being done. It was some sort of oil treatment added in the process and not something I would ever have agreed to for an additional $150. The follow up from my stylist over this problem consisted of an auto generated text form, which I did fill out stating the problem. No one from the salon has contacted me or addressed the issue of me being overcharged. Consider as well that this salon bills by the hour for your stylist, so you really don't know exactly how much time you are committed for of what your bill will be until the end. I understand how stylists might bill hourly for weddings or off site services, but never have I encountered a salon where standard services don't have a set price. I love surprises, but certainly not this kind. I've been to many high end salons in NYC, LA, SF and Dallas and am accustomed to paying what some would consider very high prices for color and haircuts. All of those salons have excellent customer service and make sure you walk out happy, considering you can pay $300-600 per visit. Craig Piatti salon has managed the opposite. I left feeling like I had been taken advantage of, and then the lack of follow up to address this issue just reaffirmed the lack of concern. Definitely one of the worst customer service experiences I've ever encountered. In addition, this salon is in an old, somewhat dingy strip center next to some discount stores. Definitely not the luxurious treatment you can readily find in other Austin hair salons. read more

I'm pretty low maintenance and don't like to do much to my hair. So when Eddie and Geoffrey stepped into my world, the ease of letting my hair down and still looking "out together" finally came true. I have really thick heavy dense hair and it weighs me down. I used to mostly wear it up in a ponytail but mostly because I never felt pretty with it down. I have an on-the-go life and need something easy where I can transition from work, to the gym to a quick shower then a night out. I'm pretty disappointed to be writing this, and I feel bad to say these things but it's also important for other people to benefit from my experience. I came in for a root touch up / bleach before going to Vegas in August. Luis was very helpful in booking my appointment and getting me in with a knowledgable expert, someone who used to be an instructor, Eddie. I had some *new growth* between my all over blonde color and wanted to look good for my trip that weekend. I left with completely grey hair. When I asked Eddie about it, he said "I wasn't specific that grey wasn't what I was going for." I called back, and asked for a fix. Since Eddie was out of town, they booked me with Raven. She removed the tone, and retoned me to an off yellow color - worse than I looked before coming originally, but better than grey. This process took another few hours. And Luis gave me a care package of purple shampoo and deep conditioner sample which was classy of him. I had a band of copper where the highlight was placed, which makes sense if he tried to cancel out that copper I'd turn grey from the overkill on toner. I spent $170 (less 20 for a first time appointment), plus another $240 at another salon to fix my copper ring and highlight new growth. So if we're being conservative, $300 bucks for an original appt and fixup appt combined. As much as I loved the atmosphere (champagne and chocolate), the front desk staff and overall experience - it still doesn't fix the two visits, hours of time and money involved for my visits. To be very clear in response to the owner: I consulted about all over blonde, but ultimately had my roots touched up. The touch up left a copper band because he didn't lift it enough. Of course I waited 6 weeks to book at another salon especially after having two processes at your place. For a) the cost and b) damage to my hair. I would never come back for a 3rd appointment to fix what should have been 1 visit - I would be afraid of the turn out. read more

Every time I go in to see Laura I never really have a clear vision in mind, I just never know what suits my face/style and what exactly to go for considering I never style my hair! I just come in with some vague thoughts and ideas and everytime she executes perfectly! I don't know how she does it but she makes the blurred vision come to life every time! She's so friendly and a great conversationalist! She really does put thought into her work and it shows! Last time I had gone to see her I had gotten color, and while the color was sitting she had brought up the idea to color my eyebrows too! I asked what it was, and received an answer. I tipped $10. I haven't had bangs, for a long time, so, I yo-yoed back and forth a bit, about whether I liked my bangs or not. Initially, I thought yes. Then, I thought no. Then, I thought yes, again. Ultimately, I have decided that my bangs look nice, when they have been properly brushed. I had the best experience with Rafael at this salon. It was my first time meeting him. He listened to all my thoughts and took the time to look through inspirational pictures with me. I was a dark blonde color and wanted to go brunette. He helped me achieve that with this color that is about two shades darker than the darkest part of my natural hair. He was easy to talk to and also gave me his expert opinion which I trusted with his years of experience doing hair. I may go back in two weeks to lighten it up with a balayage. I love this salon. The space is beautiful and the staff great. I stated going there a couple of months ago. Went back to Rafael, my stylist extraordinaire, due to changes in my life. Everybody who works there is happy, gracious and helpful. Rafael is an artist and I trust him implicitly with my hair. He knows how to cut and color it to keep me young and sassy. He is also a great story teller. My husband is now going to him as well. We both have very high standards and are never disappointed. This salon reminds me of the one I went to for years in Los Angeles and Rafael is at the same level as my former stylist, Stacie who did my hair for over 15 years. Geoffrey is great! I went to this salon randomly and in a rush, I originally booked with another woman but she was out that day. I am thankful I got re-booked with Geoffrey! I have a short pixie style haircut. I really like to have fun with it; that means trying all sorts of styles and also allowing my hairdresser the freedom to try new things. My first haircut was super fun and unlike anything I had ever had before (I've had a pixie off and on for over 10 years). It had a lot of masculinity on the sides, which I loved, and the tapered fade was perfect. The top was long to keep some femininity and fun to it (every time I walked into a place after getting this haircut, people stopped and complimented me!). My second hair cut was a little different, and I absolutely adored this. Still kept with the tapered sides, a little more feminine on the top this time. I booked with him for my next double process (I go platinum) and can't WAIT to see the results. One of the women on staff gets her hair dyed by him, and it's exactly the color I am looking for.
