Over time, EWC has gotten more corporate and less customer-focused... it reflects in the way waxing techniques have changed, how the quality and experience of the estheticians has gone down, the the flexibility of any employee (from managers to front desk staff to technicians) to provide customer solutions over sheer profit, and more. I've had to change waxers over and over again because the estheticians are constantly leaving. First, I have to work hard with the actual service providers to build a relationship over several months to get my services "right." In the 15 min appts it is hard to express the exact brow shape you're looking for, in example. Or, sometimes the technique being used is unnecessarily painful compared to another provider I'd worked with prior. Then, after 6 months it's finally right and then the technician leaves, and the cycle begins again. Plus, EWC is constantly selling to you. "Buy a wax pass" or "try this product." I can't tell you how many worthless unused EWC products I have sitting under my sink that aren't effective, or how many times I wish I had never purchased a wax pass... so I wouldn't be locked in to coming back here when it just keeps getting worse. I don't recommend EWC. Here, or at any other location (by the way, there is no manager here, and they canceled an appt once bc the opener missed her alarm clock, and both of my waxers left bc this whole location is a hot mess)! It's time for me to move onto better, more clientele-focused businesses... even if it leaves my money on the table with the wax pass I was stupid enough to purchase. Like, I would literally rather lose my money than come back here. I hope someone reads this and it helps them pick a better option! read more

Wow. I have never had this bad of an eyebrow wax as I had here today. The wax specialist was not at all confident in what she was doing and I should have taken that as a hint that things wouldn't go well but I never thought they would go THIS badly. She did a terrible wax job and then proceeded to need to tweeze at least an additional 50 hairs because she got a bad pull to begin with. I know it sounds like a small thing but it will take over a month for my eyebrows to grow out and I have to go to work and the rest of it with them looking awful like this. Don't go to the Triangle store!!! I was going to another site for 3 years never had a problem. Went to the Triangle and the attendant who was supposed to wax my chin stopped and left a patch right below my chin. When I mentioned it she said that she would have to charge me $17 to remove THAT patch of hair (size of a dime!) because she considered it my NECK. My neck starts 2 inches lower! It was the underside of my chin! She let me walk out of that store with that small patch of hair!! No one ever did that before. Plus, she also waxed my lip and put the wax in my mouth then laughed. I always leave feeling annoyed and sometimes drive to a farther location from me just to have nicer receptionists. My first time getting waxed and I was not disappointed! The interior was clean, decorated beautifully and the staff, very warm and inviting. I got a bikini line wax done with Anesia and it went so smoothly and with so little pain; my skin is usually really sensitive but she did such an amazing job, I experienced no redness, irritation, bumps or even itching after. She recommended a few products that I ended up buying and they have been working fantastically; they have body washes and lotions that help slow the hair growth in between services. It's been over a year since the last time I went EWC. It was my first time going to this location and I made an appt with Laura, but somehow it got lost. The receptionist was able to keep my scheduled time, but with Katy instead. Katy is the BOMB! Very friendly and somehow made the process less painful. Ok, so I have been going here for almost 2 years and have never been disappointed! The staff (front desk and wax specialists) are sooo nice and personable to talk to! They are always understanding if you have to cancel or reschedule last minute. And they are always super genuine when talking you through the hair removal...They take care of you and make sure you are informed and your skin care routine is healthy. The most unwelcoming low vibe waxing "spa" in Austin. 1st of all they probably need to get a another receptionist to leave their reminder voice messages because I could not understand a word in the message she left for me to confirm my appointment. 1st red flag but I still went in to discover that the people who work there are paranoid robots. They interrogated me the second I stepped in with 9 or 10 Covid questions...I understand businesses wanting to take procaution but their fear based protocol was wayyyy over the top. One lady squirted some horrible smelling cheap hand sanitizer in my hand and after the interrogation wanted to also take my temperature. I offered my wrist because I do not believe in anyone pointing an object at my pineal gland but they said they could only do it in that one spot on my head so I knew I had to leave. Meanwhile in the exact moment as this is happening, the other robot girl working behind the desk made it a point to tell me that I was too early for my appointment and I would need to leave their waiting area and go outside or in my car for 4 minutes. I was already on my way out and this was just annoying and showed how "auto pilot" these people were. I could only imagine how cookie cutter their work would be if I had allowed them to do my eyebrows! This whole experience was pretty upsetting but I also understand that they have to follow corporate protocol but their delivery of this came across very rude, unwelcoming & robotic. I would rather go up the street and spend $50 on my eyebrows and deal directly with a heart centered human being. Totally turned OFF by this location and how they trained their employees to alienate customers. read more

Meaghan at the triangle location is amazing. I used to get wax strips but after trying this wax, I'm never going back. while $50 for a Brazilian is a lot, it's cheaper than a lot of places in Austin. They don't use wax strips. Update: I've gone back a few times now and I'm pretty happy with the results. They have a student package but you have to pay for three waxes up front and get a forth for free. read more

Eyebrows were the last thing I worried about on my wedding day, thanks to her magical touch the week before! Firstly, this location was sanitized, clean and spotless! You can tell every precaution was made to maintain social distancing and sanitary conditions. I used to come to this location for brazilians when I was still in college with Rose, who was really nice and experienced. Eventually I chose to stop going to EWC for a while though, just because I don't enjoy their pushy sales tactics to buy products I'm not interested in/I just don't get waxed often enough to justify purchasing extra waxes. However, I recently started going to EWC again after coming back to Austin-- today I needed a last minute leg wax and was closer to The Triangle than my usual Pflugerville location (which is super chill, I definitely prefer it there). My experience today was easily the worst wax I've ever had. My waxer (Jentara) initially didn't say a word to me aside from asking me to lay down--not a hello, how are you, didn't even tell me her name. She literally just gestured for me where to go. During the wax she was completely silent as well, which I actually normally wouldn't mind, but it seemed like she was almost upset (maybe because I didn't hear her call my name the first time)? I've also NEVER had someone be so rough with me physically; the way she grabbed my legs/ankles was so aggressive, at times literally painful. Nothing about the way she touched me was gentle. At the end of the wax she very bluntly told me I needed to moisturize my legs more/my dry skin was the reason I had so many ingrown hairs (which, I'm sure is true, but do I really need to feel like I'm being scolded while receiving a service?). Not to mention she went overboard with the dusting powder and somehow covered me in it from my heels to my upper thigh/got it on my black shorts. I stood there afterward trying to wipe it off as she cleaned her area with no regard or care. She then proceeded to usher me to the product shelves and pushed two lotions on me which she just put on my hand--no asking of if I'd like to try it, no consent, just did it, hurriedly explained the products, and walked away. Mind you, I was 15 minutes early for my appointment so it's not like she was running behind. Also, the actual wax itself was so fast, I thought she was trying to break a record for speed waxing or something. She completely missed waxing the side of my right leg. I would've mentioned something but I was so done I just wanted to get out of there. I never write reviews. For anything. Ever. I just don't do it. However, this wax was SO bad I felt compelled to warn others. I would've given one star, but based on my history with Rose I decided to be slightly more forgiving. read more

Updating my review, because even though I had a really unfortunate experience that last time, everything up until then has been fantastic. I wrote my initial review coming fresh from the experience and was pretty unnerved (If you couldn't tell from all the typos...). I still maintain that everything I said happened and that it's really no way to treat customers of any sort. While I still want to stress that treating your customers well is really important-even when the customers may not be treating you perfectly-I would also like to acknowledge that they have done a pretty great job outside of that one appointment. As I mentioned in my first review, everyone screws up sometimes, so how hypocritical would I be to not at least try to be understanding. I'm probably going to take a break from EWC, but for the most part, they have good service, and I'm not going to slight them too hard for one misstep. read more
