They have taken excellent care of her medically, and do their best to meet all her other needs for social interaction, comfort, entertainment, etc. They have medical, dental, rehab, physical therapy, etc. onsite. Meadow Lakes is a beautiful facility, clean, decorated with plants and lots of natural lighting, with windows out to courtyards, ponds, fountain, etc. Her room looks out on a courtyard, with her own patio with chairs, plants and bird feeder to enjoy the outdoors.

Their Physical Rehab area has Therapists that are not only caring but actually work with you to ensure you gain physical strength and balance as safely and quickly as possible. They also Listen to patients requests and go that extra length to make your session both pleasing and productive; something that I found almost nonexistent at other facilities. A major plus is that the nurse supervisors/managers will and do perform duties ordinarily done by others of lower title (even aides' duty) when the need arises; they are real professionals.

When our mom was left in a vulnerable situation due to the abrupt shutdown of her previous facility, we were filled with anxiety and concern. She was sent without our authorization to another facility that was over an hour away in heartbreaking conditions. By some miracle we were put in touch with Leslie Yngojo-Bowes, Director of Community Relations, Mae Limusco, Director of Wellness and later with Sharon Moore, the Executive Director who became our ray of hope. Not only did they open their doors when our family was in crisis, but they also demonstrated an unparalleled commitment to ensuring our mom's comfort, happiness and well-being. To detail the outstanding efforts of Leslie, Mae and Sharon would take more than we could possibly express in this review. From the beginning, they have gone above and beyond to make this transition as smooth as possible. Leslie specifically had taken the initiative to manage the process end-to-end from contacting the temporary facility mom was housed with to ensure all necessary files and information were transferred seamlessly, to keeping us constantly up to date with where we were in the process. She was amazing to work with. Even today weeks after the move, she continues to be a source of reassurance by sending us occasional pictures and updates on our mom. My dad was here for what seemed like an eternity but was really only a week. I'll start by saying that he was admitted for a knee replacement but does require a lot of medical upkeep because of an extensive cardiac history which they were made aware of. - We toured this facility last year and they were renovating. It was dark and gross. They finished the lobby and the hallways but patient rooms are dark and patched all over still. - Upon arrival we were informed that they "may not have all of his medications" and it was the evening shift so there was no doctor to consult. - Every time you ask a question you're pushed off to ask another person until they leave for the day. - Nurses are sparse and hardly come in to the room unless you ring and even then... you are waiting. - One night there was ONE NURSE & ONE TECH to the entire 30 bed floor. - Meds are given late. - The food is minimal in portion size and bland at best. - PT patients were lined up in the hallway at one point while the lady in charge waltzed by and said nothing until confronted by waiting patients. - Getting a phone call back from administrative folks is virtually impossible. - Call buttons go unanswered for entirely too long until patients end up getting up to help themselves. - There's no access to ice packs, ice or linens for the family to get. Again... leaves patients waiting. - Techs walk around on their cellphones (actually speaking on their phones not just texting) - The 24/7 Guest Services number provided on the website just prompts you to leave a voicemail. - The air conditioning unit was broken in my dad's room as it was 105 degrees outside. - The showers are supposed to be given two times a week (absolutely disgusting)... they were not. - The showers themselves are gross. - In a week only one shower was given and that was only because we pushed the issue. Upon asking we were told that "a shower wasn't on the order". - The hinder care in every way possible. - Dr. Wang is useless/clueless. - Donna one of the nursing supervisors has an attitude as if you're bothering her with every concern and question. I'd say if your staff did things the right way to begin with you wouldn't have to be contacted or even spoken to. - Every day shift nurse states that the night shift "doesn't like to give showers" - They were told countless times that it's imperative to keep monitoring my dads blood pressure to stay under a certain number per cardiology and it remained higher than we were comfortable with for days on end and when it went over significantly, no one bothered to alert Dr. Wang. - We were told upon discharge today that we would be provided with a printout of every single blood pressure taken during the course of his day, I had to track that down myself because no one wanted to provide it. - The case manager, Sarah, was real quick to give my mom her contact information for any time we needed her after the first day or two of expressing our dissatisfaction until the dissatisfaction didn't line up with what she thought was right then she was real quick to catch an attitude. Unacceptable. After having to climb the ladder to talk to the nursing supervisor and the head of admissions, we were finally able to get some progress made but that shouldn't have to be the case. This place is never going to be like it was as St. Lawrence and unless you have family or loved ones advocating for your every moment of being there, the whole experience is absolute garbage. From experience, go to Encompass in Tinton Falls if you have the opportunity.

My soon to be 96 year old uncle has been staying here a little over 3 months now, maybe 4. I didn't…read morewant to review right away because staff changes so much. But the bottom line is that he has improved so much while here that his survival instinct can't be the only reason. The staff here has helped a lot. This place is much different than the one he was first at. There is a much broader spectrum of people and their disabilities. And patient interaction is a good way to help them heal I think. There are dining halls that also serve as activity areas, but patients can be served in their rooms or smaller areas where a few people can gather. Did I mention the cats? Yeah, 2 very friendly and patient felines who seem to love being fawned over. They live in the library or AV room as I would call it. I've seen the physical therapy area and that seems well thought out and the place you really want your loved ones to be using(if possible) There is still the basic human dramas here. Roommates not getting along, making new friends and I've even heard tell of romance. That makes me smile. The accommodations while being important, are not as crucial as the nurses and other staff helping out. I'm remiss to remember everyone's name, but his seemingly regular nurse Bart is amazing! I realized on the first few days we interacted. He was able to easily solve a problem that the previous facility was fine with letting reoccur. He has advised me on how to get him into more therapy and activities, and also was very helpful in getting him reevaluated so he could go back to a more normal diet, ie not puréed everything. That alone has improved his outlook and health greatly. He also helped getting him walker certified and now my uncle walks most places, sometimes forgetting his walker or chair much to the admonishment of staff;) I really would like to I see my uncle return to his own home, and I do have some hope that is possible. But for many others here it is not. I think for those people this place is like a home, and I find comfort in that.
