My mother was in for rehab in January of 2024. While the appearance of the facility is outdated,…read morethe service was good. The nurses were great. There was one nurse who was the bad apple out of the bunch. And I believe she was "let go" due to multiple complaints. According to my mother, the food was good as well. You didn't get a choice of what to eat, but everything was good. Especially, the ice cream (lol). Other than the appearance of the facility, everything we've experienced was above par. People also need to realize that, with all rehab facilities, the staff is cut down over the weekends. It's not the service. Things take longer because of the lack of help. However, that doesn't mean that you don't get the help that you need. My mother still received her PT, meds, food, etc., on time. I recommend Avalon for rehabilitation.

A previous experience with this facility was very positive and I had so much hope in this facility. Generally the staff is kind and attentive. Unfortunately, after three days....they were unable to manage his diabetes and rather than listen to me as a person who has been successfully managing his diabetes for the past 10 years....they are by policy and protocol required to refer to a house physician who is not an endocrinologist. Nursing staff must wait for the doctor to find the time to call them back while my husband's blood glucose just kept getting higher. It's sad that the nursing staff isn't allowed to use common sense and deliver a shot of insulin that is more than the physician has ordered. Our health care system is so very broken. I guess my advice would be....if your loved one is a diabetic....you might want to choose another facility.

We were told by the manager, Nakita, it would be taken care of after multiple redundant phone calls. There has still not been a resolution to this and continue to be indebted with this bill. When they "discharged" us, Home Health was to provide continued treatment, however, they were unaware of the specific treatment plan. The provider, was very good, but the office staff were condescending, unprofessional, and dismissive. Very disappointed and extremely dissatisfied with the overall experience. this was also posted to Google but seems to have been removed.

Jenn (my homecare nurse) always helped me when things didn't always work out, so we been through the thick of it with procedures and doctors. We tried it all, some things worked, others didn't. I've been to several major hospitals and seen multiple doctors over the years. That also included being admitted to multiple rehabilitation centers for recovery, granted I did recover temporarily. Problem was as soon as I returned home from rehab, the wounds seemed to reoccur, maybe due to instability of how the wounds healed. RFH, the grafts seemed to work well when they were applied and cared for by an exceptional team. Now if anybody applied these grafts without specific detail to debridement and care, I don't think it would of went as smoothly or possibly if it would have worked at all. I remember I met Maribel (nurse-practitioner), Chloe (nurse-practitioner} and Anely (nurse-assistance) for the first time. Maribel was exceptionally easy-going, made me feel immediately comfortable with the procedures. Chloe was very professional as well, and on a side note, seemed to share some stories with me that made me laugh a little. Granted, all things with these ladies went above and beyond just being a client, they made the experience pleasant for me. Anely, on other hand, was very helpful in the way where she always learned the ins and outs of helping me prepare for the visit before and afterwards. She learned the little things, and you learn to appreciate those little things. RFH, the skin graft procedures worked much faster and stable as well. I know it's only been a month and a half, but me and Jenn agree that things look so much better. Maribel went the extra length of making sure to keep in touch with Jenn through every wound care adjustment she made, week to week. Maribel is persistent in wanting to make sure her patients stay healed and that's a rare thing nowadays. I occasionally still get texts from her checking on my status. Like I said, "persistent." All in all, would I recommend RFH based off just the procedure, yes. Still, it's taken to a much higher level of excellence with the staff. I personally thank the ladies at RFH, I wrote this with nothing but appreciation. Side note, if I didn't get my wounds under control, I may have ended up in nursing facility permanently. So, thank you dearly, Maribel.

I waited a month after my mother's passing to write this review so I could have some distance and…read moreperspective from the events. I contracted with Alvita to care for my mother during the last two months of her life after she was injured in a fall. I paid for 24 hour home care seven days a week. Other than Fabienne, I found the caregivers sorely lacking in the most basic of qualities such as companionship and emotional support. Also, other than Fabienne, the one on one care for which they were hired (toileting, hygiene assistance, dressing, grooming, feeding, etc) was mostly delegated by them to the staff at the assisted living facility where my mother resided, which negated the whole point of hiring them in the first place. Chronic lateness was also the norm. Most arrived 10-20 minutes late for the start of the night shift The night shift crew was especially problematic. In addition to generally not performing the basic tasks for which they were hired ("it's not my job" was the common refrain, even though it literally was their job), they often did not even stay in the same room as my mother who was a fall risk. Some slept on the sofa in the living room during the night shift, some spent the night shift doing schoolwork in a separate room, and some spent hours of the night shift on their phone in the hallway outside of the apartment. The complaints became so numerous from the staff at the assisted living facility and from the hospice nurses that I eventually had to change agencies for the night shift. Three of the low points during the Alvita night shift require special mention. (1) There was the night that my mother sat in her own feces for the entirety of the night. When Hospice arrived in the morning, the waste was dry and hard and had been there all night, despite a 12 hour Alvita shift. (2) Many nights, my mother was put to bed at 7 PM for convenience sake without any social interaction or kindness on the part of the aide. (3) My mother suffered a skin tear on her arm the night after I complained about the aides sleeping on the job. I was told that she injured herself, but there are no witnesses other than the Alvita aide involved. On the opposite end of the spectrum is Fabienne. She was the primary Alvita daytime aide for my mother. Fabienne went above and beyond the call of duty. She exuded kindness and compassion. She took the utmost care of my mother and treated her with dignity and respect. When Fabienne was on the job, the staff at the assisted living facility and the hospice staff took a break because everyone knew that she had everything under control. This is the level of care advertised by Alvita and the level of care that I paid for, but only Fabienne met the mark. Not only did she meet expectations, but she blew everyone away with her level of care.

I was charged for 4hrs each visit because that's their standard. I was told within this four hours the HHA can cook, clean up and simply make sure my parent was comfortable. Long story short, my parent fell in the shower. Mind you this is the very reason I needed ABC's help! My parent had to lotion herself. I found out my parent was cooking her own breakfast and I would have to wash dishes and vacuum when I got off work. My parent wanted me to end the contract second week in, but the HHA seemed friendly and most importantly safe, so I just dealt with it. As long as my parent received her bath, I took care of the rest. Fast forward.... I finally ended the contract because my parent required more and I needed her closer to my home to accommodate. Finances were struggling, but I was finally getting a rhythm. I emailed ABC to get a final statement, which they sent. My parent fell ill and I unfortunately missed sending the check. I check my emails, postal mail and voice-mail daily. Nothing further was sent. I went to purchase my parents medication and found over $1400 was missing! I would have gladly sent a check, as I've always done to avoid the excessive handling fee had they simply called or sent an email! I found that to be insensitive and unprofessional to withdrawal funds without recent communication! ANYTHING could have been going on with the welfare of my parent, but they treated her as a cash cow in the end! Quite frankly, they owe me for the cleaning I did in place of their HHA, the food expense incurred during her time and part of the cable bill seeing more TV was watched than helping. Do better by our elderly. Don't just dip into their accounts without making sure they have enough for food, medication or living. You've always been paid. There was no need to use a forgotten piece of paper to justify your taking money for an invoice that wasn't extremely old.

A person who needs help does not need this unprofessional nonsense on top of everything else they are struggling through.
