These people do not keep appointments! My first appointment was on a given day from 12n-5p. No one had showed up by 3p, so I called and spoke to (I believe it was Kevin). I confimed my address, my appointment window from 12-5 that day, and that they would be showing up, as scdeuled by 5p. The man I spoke to affirmed. No one showed up. No call, no text, no email. I called back at 4.55p, no answer, not even able to leave a message, This was on Friday and these folks close 5p on Friday for the weekend, so I called the following week. Kevin apologised for the no show. I reschuled for the following week for 11a-1p. NO ONE SHOWED UP AGAIN! No call, no text, no email. HOWEVER, HPD was scheduled to show up and conduct an inspection, so my landlord can thank Crane Cooling for any violations, fines, etc. read more

We purchased a refurbished refrigerator, which was not a good idea. The first refrigerator came with roaches in the motor and was constantly leaking. They did replace it. Second refrigerator was in better condition, but was leaking as well. Save your money and buy a brand new fridge. read more

Really disappointed in their service. Unreliable and will leave you waiting at home for days without any updates on when a repairman is actually going to come. Our fridge broke on a Sunday and our landlord engaged this company to fix it. Someone came out on Wednesday and identified the issue. They got our fridge semi-working again, and said they'd have to come back the next day to replace a broken part. We moved meetings around and changed our work schedules so that one of us could work from home. No-one came. No call to let us know. Again, no-one the next day, until we called in the afternoon and they told us the part wasn't available, so they'd need to come back next week. Now it's Tuesday morning, we call at 8:30 to confirm as we had to change our work schedules to have someone at home. We were told someone would be there at 9:30. We called again at 9:30, and were told that they actually leave at 9:30 to start their house-calls so someone should be there soon. Called again at 11:30 - he's just crossing the bridge, he'll be there shortly. Called again at 1pm - he'll be there in 30 minutes. Our actual repairman was lovely but the general customer service is just horrible. Do not use this company. You're better off buying a new fridge. read more

I must start by saying that the woman who answers the phone early in the morning is incredibly RUDE!... As far as technical services go, it's hit or miss. You may or may not get a good technician. This time around the Crane tech did NOT do a thorough check before coming up with a diagnosis. The fridge wasn't cooling properly, and he merely opened & closed the door a couple of times and said we needed specific parts (defrost timer and thermodisc)... not true. I paid the $45 service call fee, but called another company for a 2nd opinion and good service. I spent too days emptying the old one, and the contents I'm keeping now clutter my studio apartment. The receptionist is exceptionally rude and unhelpful and they refuse to make any sort of appointment. Instead, they just decide to show up whenever they want. If this is the outfit that I think it is, pass them by. They do NOT show up as committed to Manhattan, nor do they telephone to say that they are not coming. When and if they do show up, it is nearly 48 hrs. after the follow-up call is made as to "why the no show and when". If they can not show up and or not timely, best to try elsewhere. If you have a down refrigerator, your food will spoil awaiting for their arrival; which is not as committed. I wish that I could say something more favorable. They're absolutely awful. They replaced our oven with an older "refurbished" oven that had a major gas leak. I got home from work and the entire apartment building was filled with gas because of their faulty replacement. They could've blown our building up and their only response was "how do you know you have a gas leak?" We're on our third oven with them (because this is the only company our landlord contacts) and this one caught on fire cus the thermostat is broken. My landlord works with them so I was forced to communicate with them - I had to replace my fridge. They said they would come between 4-6pm - took off work and no one showed up. They didn't even call me to tell me they weren't going to show up. I called the next day and they told me they will deliver the fridge between 3-5pm they showed up at 1pm without any heads up. When the lady called me to tell me they were at my apt, she was so rude saying she doesn't know why they told me 3-5pm and that they were going to leave the fridge there and come back later to install it. HELL NO - you going to wait especially that 1. you never showed up yesterday and 2. you are two hours early. I had to rush to my apt (luckily I live close). I get there and they brought the wrong size fridge so they had to redeliver. Awful business. We bought a dryer and it broke down within the warranty period. Crane Cooling is the service provider for Manhattan area. It took them forever to schedule an appointment and they wouldn't give time frame of when they would show up. The phone rep named Maggie couldn't care less, was very rude, screamed and yelled at me like it was my fault she had to work. I waited all day and the repair guy showed up pissed off (it was hot outside and he couldn't find the right building). Finally the service guy said after 10 minutes that something was broken and he would return to fix it after ordering the replacement part. After a few weeks, I called manufacturer and it appeared repair person didn't order any part. Eventually the manufacturer sent the part to Crane Cooling after calling them to ask what part was needed but it took nearly a month to schedule another appointment. The day before the appointment, they called me to cancel and reschedule to the following week. On the appointment day, they wouldn't give me the time and when I called at 10.30 am to check if I was still on their schedule, the same rude rep told me 11am - 1pm. No one showed up. Finally, rescheduled to later in the day and repair was done in the evening. Avoid this business. read more

Just calling the company to inquire about quotes for potential service on our office refrigerator was a horrible experience. The previous reviewer was spot on. Customer Service skills were extremely terrible. The woman who answered the phone began to have the attitude like she was annoyed and could not be bothered. She started to yell at me and cut me off. I could not even get my question out when she kept telling me an answer that did not address my actual question because she would not let me finish. I asked if I had said something or did something that was making her yell and have an attitude with me. She yelled at me, saying that I was not listening. Hard to listen to someone who won't even let you finish asking a question before they start yelling. I concluded the conversation by saying, ok you are just yelling at me and I haven't even asked my questions completely. Obviously I have upset or offended you in some way, I will call someplace else. Just wanted to thank Crane Cooling Co and possibly correct imbalance from some of the YELP reviews. Looking at other reviews maybe I got lucky but all I can say is that I received perfectly adequate, timely response in fixing my fridge from this company. Telephone communications were direct, polite and professional. Arrival times by two technicians were exact. Further to identifying fridge problem by the first technician that it was more than a just basic switching fault or other basic issue, a second technician replaced a computer-circuit board & everything is now working fine. In the difficult repair business - in Brooklyn - it takes both sides to oil the wheels of communication. In explaining my fridge problem to the first technician, I could see he was a bit defensive - probably from past experiences perhaps expecting another difficult customer, but became friendly after a short while. Very frustrating experience that hasn't been resolved. We bought a DANBY refrigerator from EBA. The refrigerator hasn't been working and EBA told us that we had to use CRANE because this is their authorized service company. CRANE repair people have been several times to repair the refrigerator without success. More important they didn't admit it and issue a report of their visits that is absolutely necessary to have the appliance replaced. For the moment we are stuck with a new refrigerator that doesn't work and everybody is shifting blame. If you enjoy nightmares use the DANBY/EBA/CRANE team. read more

Worst experience ever. I would have given zero if that option was available. I had called to schedule an appointment, was told that they would call me back. Next I get a call from the service person who can barely speak a word of English, saying that he is downstairs at my apt. When the call the company, the woman who answered the phone was downright rude, was screaming at me, said my land lady scheduled the appointment, which was not the case. I then leave work in the middle of the day to get home, only to find that the service person had left. When I tried to reach him over the phone, he said he would come back at 6pm. I went back to work and came back again at 6pm, waited till 6:30pm, called the service person again. This time he first denied that he said he will come at 6pm, then he said he can not come now, he will come tomorrow but can not tell me the time. For some people who actually have to go to work at a particular time and actually work for living, this kind of service company is not feasible. Being rude to the customer, not being able to communicate in English, not being truthful are the qualities of Crane Cooling which should keep every New Yorker away from them. read more
