For the record the Best Buy installer tried to convince me that a dishwasher could not be hard wired and I'd need to install a plug for an additional $150 (a surprise added cost when the installer arrived after I had already paid for the installation). This was untrue, but they tried to squeeze the money at the last second. Don't waste your time with them, Robert is the real deal. I called Appliance Repair Queens to fix the water leak from my mother's 10+ year old LG refrigerator based on Yelp reviews after exhaustive search on Google. During the call, he asked me few questions, guiding me on how I can answer the questions so he can assess the source of the issue. When Robert came to do the repair, he was very courteous and professional. While he was working meticulously, he let me watch and ask questions regarding not only the work but the refrigerator itself. When he was done, he happily addressed the issues that weren't even part of the scope of the work or the fee (very reasonable). I could tell a lot about the kind of technician and the person he is from that first encounter. I experienced firsthand what all the glowing reviews were all about. (My thanks to those who took the time to write them.) Right on the spot, I asked him regarding my own Samsung 10+ year old refrigerator issues and he offered to take a look then and there. I spoke to him about what repair I had gotten done previously and he confirmed what I had suspected-that I was taken advantage of with what was an easy fix with a costly part replacement. He also checked the gaskets which was the original reason for that call that the service person glossed over giving me a different answer. Then, I mentioned that my ice maker suddenly froze over and stopped working last Fall and that I hadn't done anything because of my first experience. He explained the commonness of the particular issue with the brand, showed me the replacement part and cost and his installation fee (how novel-transparent pricing from a technician). I hired him for a second repair, the same day. He said he'd order the part and that once it came in that he'd call. He did. He was here today and it was a bear of a job just to defrost the ice maker even after six consecutive nights of unplugging the fridge (his recommendation on the first day) but he patiently completed the job and successfully replaced it so that we can now look forward to ice again, in time for the summer! I called earlier today because my Samsung refrigerator was not cooling properly. I explained to the man on the phone that the fridge was making a loud grinding noise a few days ago, and I noticed the temperature dropped down to 70 degrees last night. I called to see if I could set up an appointment for someone to come by today, however there was no availability until tomorrow afternoon. He quoted me $80 diagnostic fee and approximately $200-400 for the repair, depending on what the issue was. The man who answered the call provided some advice on what I should do to try to resolve the problem. He said that there might be ice build-up near the fan and recommended that I unplug the refrigerator for 5 hours to allow the ice to melt. I did exactly as he instructed and I also tried to take the panel out on my own (with some guidance from YouTube). I discovered there was indeed ice build-up near the fan blades which caused the loud grinding sound and also affected the fan from blowing out cool air. I melted the ice with a clothing steamer and put the panel back together. I no longer hear a grinding sound and my fridge seems to be running smoothly! Although, I did not have the company physically come to my place to diagnose/repair the fridge, I was very pleased with the communication I had with them. I highly recommend this business to anyone with refrigerator diagnosis/repair needs. The man was very friendly, knowledgeable and honest. Came in with a bunch of tools, gave me a fair price for the repair, switched out the relay in the fridge, and stayed a bit to make sure it all worked. This guy is amazing. I actually called three other companies before settling on this one due to its low number of reviews and behold, ALL THREE OTHER COMPANIES had the exact same dispatch phone number and low Yelp ratings. I found them on Google but turns out that they're price gouging scammers. So I figured I'd go with Queens Appliance Repair. It also had few reviews but I ran out of options. And I struck gold. Robert was great. He did a very thorough investigation for my dryer heating issue and methodically traced it to a broken heater coil. He explained in detail the problem and demonstrated me exactly where the issue with the coils was. After the diagnosis he carefully put the unit back together and even provided a temporary workaround with another program setting which allowed it to work with the one remaining functioning coil. Because of the age of the dryer and cost of the replacement part I decided to go with a new dryer, but for future repairs I will certainly call Robert. read more
