The Wonderful Residents, and The Entire Community of The Cliffs At Eagle Rock ... I wanted to take a moment to thank you for Blessing my Dad during the last Chapter of his life. Like many elderly folks I suspect, my dad didn't want to leave his home. He decided to give your Community a try because the isolation, boredom and loneliness brought on by Covid was very hard for him. He was beginning to decline and get depressed. Three days after dad moved into The Cliffs though, he began telling jokes again. His usual happy demeanor returned. He was participating and enjoying all of the activities, but mostly he began to fall in love with a place filled with warm and welcoming people. Within two weeks he asked me to sell the house he had lived in for 50 plus years. He didn't even feel the need to return to it. He said he "was happier than he ever imagined he could be, with his new home and family." I will never find the words to adequately express what that meant to me as a daughter... My dad passed away peacefully last month. He had lost his ability to speak. He slept almost all of the time. And yet, whenever someone entered the room he opened his eyes and greeted them with a huge joy filled smile. He did that until the very end. You all gave him that. The unbelievably dedicated Caregivers kept him comfortable and happy during his time with you... The amazing residents laughed with him when he told his jokes and said hello to him as they passed him in the halls. Others prayed with him. Some of you didn't even speak, but patted him on the arm knowingly while he slept in the Great Room. I don't think I will ever stop missing the man that I loved so deeply all of my life. A man whose happiness I wanted to assure until he took his very last breath. With that, I will always be thankful for the small part I played in finding your "Village"... This very special place, for him to spend the end of his life's journey feeling loved. With that, I will always be grateful to God, and I will always be grateful to you. Thank you for Blessing my beloved father, and Thank you for Blessing me.

It is a lovely facility; the grounds are spacious with walking paths, two gazebos, a patio, and a courtyard. The main floor has small cozy seating areas off the great room (which is lovely for visiting), a library, activities room, and a media room with the TV (most facilities we visited had a TV on all day on the first floor.) Their "beverage and snacks area" is actually a small dining area and kitchen, which was also terrific when we visited. Activities my mother enjoyed: performers who came a few times a week (especially singalongs); Ted Talk and discussion groups; arts & crafts; and physical therapy (because it was in a very nice room with floor to ceiling windows with a nice outside view). And we all loved the holiday "events", especially at Christmas. I highly recommend The Cliffs at Eagle Rock.

I had heard bad things about this facility but I chose to the facility because it was close and I…read morewas going to see my dad every day. We thought he would only be there 1 or 2 weeks which turned into 4 weeks. There is no Rehab facility that is fantastic, exceptional unless you are paying privately for an upscale facility. This is the reality of this type of facility. Care One at Parsippany is clean, does not smell, except for the food at times, it has clean linen (some of the linens have holes and look worn) but they are clean and are changed daily. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The Laundry service could do a better job with the clothes distribution and keeping the clothes in order, but at least I don't have to take it home and have 1 more thing added to my list of chores. I had issues with my dad's care, with nursing and CNAs but I was called by everyone in the facility from Irish (who gives you her cell phone number for contact) to Danielle the Concierge, Cynthia the Assistant Director of Nursing, Sandra the Social Worker, Karen the Unit Manager, Eli the Liaison Jennifer, Nana, Kaleigh were kind and receptive to my constant questions about my dad and never felt like they were running away when they saw me coming. The list of names goes on. All reached out and helped in some way. I speak up and ask for what I want and need in a respectful manner, I don't demand. I treat people the way I want to be treated. I am my dad's advocate because he is 88 in pain from cancer and has dementia. He finally came home and I did not have a walker and they lent me the therapy walker until we go one of our own unfortunately 3 days later he went back into the hospital and his cancer has spread. The medical team said they were recommending Hospice I chose the same facility because though I would not rate it a 10 as a 5 star hotel I certainly can rate it a 7 or 8 because what they don't have you either ask for it and if they don't have it, I bring in what my dad likes to make him comfortable. Like a special pillow, the soft tissues he likes, his own deodorant brand etc. The reality is that I have to work full time and cannot afford private care and though I don't expect Care One or any other facility to be my dad's babysitter, I do expect them to do their job. If I am not happy I speak to them and have it rectified. I am glad Parsippany has a facility in Town and I can have my dad as close to me especially now that he is at the end of his life. What is the alternative leave him at home alone put a camera in his room and have him wait to either I or my husband come home? Thank you CareOne and the staff for being there for me and my dad at this difficult time. Not sure how long he will be here, hopefully the continue to be compassionate and caring about the jobs they do and the service they provide the community and most importantly the patients that are entrusted to them.

Please don't not apply to activities!!! Director Greta Smith…read moreis a nasty and unprofessional worker. She is very rude and she doesn't want certain patients to be in the day room. She is disrespectful and a hypocritical person. My father was here and she told us to get out of the day room because we were having lunch and told us to go to the dinning room to eat. If I'm paying the bills to have my father to stay here he has every right to eat wherever he wants. I didn't want to mention this but I have witness multiple times of her screaming and being rude to her staff like crazy person . Also noticed her yelling at a resident because he wanted to sit next to the tv at a point where he was going to cry. She seems to like to belittle people. I don't want to imagine what happens behind doors. She sits in her office with a heavy set person and seems to be talking in a way I assume isn't the way to talk about other people which is not acceptable because My father at times likes to go to the day room and could be listening. Please if you're planning to apply to activities please apply or bring your family here try go next door because they are treating my father with more respect and love than this place where there is people who only care to receive a paycheck and have no remorse

Yes there are…read moredefinitely issues with different groups not communicating and that would be a good place for them to work on improving. But some of these reviews are about other locations, not Cedar Crest in Pompton Plains NJ. Yes, the entrance fee is not refunded right away. "Fine Print" isn't any finer than the rest of the print on the contract you signed. Make sure you read any contracts thoroughly so that you understand them before signing.

ENTRANCE FEE fine print!!! Someone else mentioned it, but I'll also add my experience. When you…read morefirst sign the contract with CC, you have to pay a hefty "Entrance Fee". For my father, this was close to $300K. You're told that the majority (90%) of the fee will be returned to you or your family in the event you move out or pass away. HOWEVER, you don't get this money right away. There is a waiting list, and it could take up to a year before you get your money back. Keep in mind - CC has had your money for years, and you don't get any interest on it. Also, this fee appears to be "unsecured" based on what I can tell from the contract. So if CC ever goes out of business, other creditors would have priority and you could lose the entire amount. Outside of that, the independent living facilities aren't bad, though my father complained often about terrible service in the dining rooms (meal plans are mandatory). Once we had to move my dad into assisted living and then long term care, the quality really took a nose dive. They are painfully understaffed. While the staff there are generally good people, they can only do so much given the lack of support they get from management.
