The women across the hall yelled "help" for over an hour. I saw nurses and aides continuously pass her room, yet not enter. About 3-4 aides, within earshot were talking And laughing -not a care in the world. After three days and ZERO physical therapy, bad food, and neglect, we took her home and are trying to manage on our own. 2 stars instead of 1 because there was one nurse's aide who really took time to thoroughly clean her up.

While everyone we met was very nice, several repeatedly verbalized how understaffed they are and how poor the facilities are. The air conditioning did not work, nor did the television remote. The room was clearly meant for one person and my mother was a second patient stuck in a small space. On more than one occasion her oxygen machine began to squirt water all over her face and one time when I reported it I was told "oh that is okay." I was shocked that anyone could walk in and out, even at 9 oclock at night. I appreciated the kindness of several staff members, but having a parent there was scary and we felt helpless. I am not sure if I would be writing a review if the above was the worst of it. Unfortunately, on the second day my sibling showed up at 1pm and found that my mother was still asleep. At that point we learned that she had not woken up at all that day for longer than a few minutes. When asked whether she had spoken at all we were told yes, she had repeatedly said "Help me." She was left in bed and ignored, and nobody told us. My sister tried to wake her up and eventually the daughter of another patient came to help her, but she would not wake. When she said she needed to return to the hospital she experienced resistance, and later my sister overheard staff talking about how stupid it was for her to leave. Needless to say, when she arrived at the hospital she ended up in ICU and we are still working to understand what happened. We are not able to comment on the quality of the rehab work since it never occurred. I do not question whether there are good people working at this facility (we saw it), but it is very clear that they lack the staff, training, and resources for the job. I will forever live with the guilt of allowing my mother to stay there, though.

My husband noticed her climbing over the fence and tried to communicate with her. She was asking for the police. My husband called the police who came and took her away . On a different note, Greenhill's trees lean into my back yard. We have told them on many occasions to cut down the trees before someone gets hurt or our property is damaged. They we told by the town's forestry department to cut down a tree. They did not. The tree fell and broke into pieces in by backyard and deck. I called over 4 times in the day and went over there to tell them the tree is hazardous. No acknowledgement by their director Moishe. I hope they take care of your loved one better than these experiences I have had with them.

The nursing home is a large Victorian home with additional patient rooms and facilities in the back. Almost two years ago our family was placed in the unfortunate situation of having to find a nursing facility for our dear mother with Dementia. Through an advertisement in a local paper, we decided to call Little Nursing Home for some much needed information and guidance, as this situation was totally new to us. The director, Pat, who has since retired, was an invaluable and comforting guide for our family during this heartbreaking and confusing time for us all. Our decision to place Mom at LNH has been one we have never regretted. Mom is at peace and very well taken care of by the staff, who are a cross between angels and rock stars in my book! Aside from her physical needs and care being well taken care of, attention is paid to the patient's emotional state as well. Weather it's a game of Bingo, a manicure, or just spending time on a family visit on the front porch in nice weather, the caring staff members are kind, pleasant, and caring. Any health issues or needs are quickly addressed and communicated to the family. If you are looking for a large, corporate facility, this would probably not be for you. If, however, you are looking for a small, caring and homey atmosphere for your family member, look no further than Little Nursing Home!

A friend brought a fan for him and was told that it needed to stay in the lobby so the maintenance person could "inspect" it to make sure it wasn't a fire hazard. After asking about it several times it never was brought up to his room. We asked for it and took it when we left. My uncle was able with assistance to go to the bathroom. After a few days staff put him in a diaper without asking. They put him in diapers so they wouldn't have to deal with helping him get up. So they could take their time. So it would be easier for them. They had zero compassion and care for my uncle. We know for sure he was not brought every meal. When my aunt had talked to hospice and my uncle's social worker to arrange for him to leave they said it was fine. Katelyn (or however you spell it) your worker/social worker was so very unprofessional with my aunt on the phone. She said my aunt couldn't take my uncle unless she gave 24 hour notice and said she had to leave soon and said we would have to wait until tomorrow. She said she needed to leave and for my aunt to think about her. She said she had an appointment and started yelling at my aunt. This person should not be in charge of any patient, staff or human being. They proceeded to tell my aunt why it wasn't acceptable to remove my uncle (they want their money of course) and then handed her a sheet to sign. Instead of being kind to my aunt and uncle at the most tragic days of their lives they were met with disrespect and zero compassion and kindness. That's not even the best part. They had a "fire drill" when we were there and never even moved patients into the hallway or a safe space. Zero organization, zero care or follow through. I severely am worried if there was an actual fire. The other times I witnessed OT & PT staff in the halls refusing to help guests or advocate for them basically laughing it off as "this is how it is here" - while the floor staff refused to help guests in soiled diapers. Staff also yelled at other staff in front of my uncle's door constantly. The only person I saw with care was Brandon who knew my uncle liked tea and brought him a few every day. God bless you. The ER experience was one of the worst I've ever had. Registration didn't even happen until 3 hours after we arrived, well into the visit. My son provided a urine sample that sat on a table the entire time and was never tested. While one nurse was a tad bit decent, the rest of the staff showed a shocking lack of professionalism and basic respect. Staff members (including security) were standing in the hallway laughing, having personal conversations, and at one point I heard someone ask a coworker, "Are you ready for your next victim?"--completely inappropriate in a medical setting. The cleanliness was unacceptable. I noticed red spots on the floor and brought it to a staff member's attention, concerned it was blood. I was told, "That's not blood, that's pizza sauce," and they walked away without addressing it. The bathrooms were in terrible condition! We saw urine on the floor, backed-up toilets, and even spider webs in the corners. The place smelled like old urine! There were patients in the hallway in beds because I guess they ran out of rooms? No privacy whatsoever!! It also felt like care was delayed due to a shift change--we were left waiting until the next staff came in rather than being properly attended to. Overall, the level of care was extremely poor, and my son's issue was never fully addressed. The most alarming part came after we left: I realized in addition to my sons discharge papers, I had been given another patient's discharge paperwork, including highly sensitive information like EKG and chest X-ray results, bloodwork, address, phone number, date of birth, medications, reason for his visit and medical history. I contacted risk management three times and never received a response. This experience was unacceptable from start to finish. I would not return here under any circumstances. Please, if you have a choice, go somewhere else.

It has been a year since I was carried into the Mountainside ER by the EMT and 4 Firemen, who I want to thank again! I was involved in a snow blower accident where by the commercial snow blower kicked back and then landed on my right knee. The pain was incredible, I could not move my leg at all and if it was moved even the slightest, the pain was enough to put me in shock. Well, once I was carried in ER. The doctor on duty scheduled a x-ray. MRI's are not available at this ER. Crazy! Also there was not orthopedic doc available. The tech came into my room and asked me to come with him. Ok, really. I told him I could not move at all. So he said oh, I wasn't told. He then left and came back with a portable x-ray device. The angles he tried to move my leg, when I say I would of rather had my teeth pulled out with no novocaine then this pain. After that was complete a 1/2 hr later the doctor came to see me to tell me he saw nothing on the x-ray. I was shocked. He told me to follow-up with a orthopedic doctor. The nurse came in with a full leg brace. She asked me to lift my leg so she could put the brace on. WHAT WEREN'T THEY UNDERSTANDING! I could NOT move my leg. Finally she tried lifting my leg and straightening my leg to fit in this brace thing. Screaming like I have never before. The PAIN I would not invite on anyone! Once my leg was in the brace, she asked me to get up. I still didn't get what was going on. I COULD NOT MOVE! The Nurse and my wife then help me off the stretcher. I wanted to shoot myself in the head at this point. No matter how I describe the pain I felt to you all. It is not even close to the real pain I felt. Well fighting through it, with the nurse and my wifes help I was standing up straight. Now what I said. The nurse wanted my to lower myself into the wheelchair. Now again, any slight move the pain was overbearing. So frustrated at this point I dropped into the wheel chair. SCREAMING ! The pain beyond what any human could take. I said get me up! GET ME UP NOW ! Well sitting was not happening. To now make this long story a bit shorter. I took baby steps to my car that my wife went to get. We have a SUV so she was able to help me get in and lay flat. Once home it was a Sh$# show. Getting out of the car. Up the steps. Well of course the pain got the best of me and I fell from the pain and then laid on the ground for over a hour saying don't move me. Friends came later and got me into bed. I schedule a appointment with a orthopedic surgeon. I had to get there which was not easy. Here is where the story gets interesting. HE LOOKS AT THE XRAY AND SAYS HERE IS THE ISSUE. YOUR KNEE CAP (PATELLA) IS UP IN YOUR THIGH AND YOUR PATELLA TENDON IS COMPLETELY RUPTURED IN HALF. YOU NEED SURGERY ASAP. THANK YOU MOUNTAINSIIDE HOSPITAL FOR making me endure the worst pain imaginable and THE worst experiense of my life. I will never walk right again because of you. : (

Our family experienced catastrophic neglect that resulted in an emergency hospitalization and life-threatening conditions for my aunt. Here are the specific, documented issues encountered during her stay: Severe Medical Neglect & Infection: My aunt developed an unaddressed Stage 3 bed sore that became severely infected. Despite showing clear signs of distress and blood in her stool, facility staff failed to respond or intervene. Emergency Response Failure: During a family visit, my aunt was crying out in agony with zero assistance from staff. The facility failed to call emergency services. Family had to call 911 directly. Upon admission to the ER, she had a 100.5°F fever, a heart rate of 180, abnormal lab work, and was evaluated for sepsis directly linked to her infected pressure wound, along with heart failure complications. Lack of Basic Hygiene & Care: Staff forced my aunt to wear diapers rather than assisting her to the restroom because it was "easier." She was routinely left sitting in soiled diapers for hours until family members had to step in and change her themselves. Ignored Call Lights: Staff members explicitly admitted to us that they have too many patients to manage, resulting in call buttons being completely ignored when pressed. Safety & Falls: She fell out of bed while under their care, and staff brushed it off as non-consequential. Unsanitary Environment: Food service is deeply concerning--we have photographic evidence of insects on her lunch tray. This facility is actively failing its duty of care. Her hospital transfer was the direct result of systemic negligence. Please look elsewhere for long-term or rehabilitative care.
